This was a really fun, fast-paced with such an interesting premise. I laughed, I teared up a bit at parts, and the banter and romance between was top notch. I read this one pretty quickly, which, for someone in the deepest pits of a terrible reading slump, was impressive. I loved watching the character development of both the FMC and her "despicable" neighbor, even if, like with most romantic fiction, some suspension of belief is required. But I don't care, because this was just the bit of nice, fluffy (but emotional) content I needed to put that reading slump on pause, and for that, I applaud it.
3.5 rounded up.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

I’m not saying this book brought me back to life, but I’m also not not saying that.
The Love of My Afterlife was such a cozy, weirdly comforting, laugh-then-cry-then-laugh-again kind of read. It gave me that same magical, melancholic My Dead Romantics feeling, like someone cracked open my chest and whispered, “Hey, it’s okay to want more from this life, even after it ends.”
Delphie was instantly endearing in that “I didn’t realize how lonely I was until I started letting people in” kind of way. Her voice felt so real, quirky and funny without trying too hard, and the way she built a little afterlife family out of chaos and second chances? Ugh, straight to the heart. I’m a sucker for found family, and this one delivered.
Also: Mr. Yoon. That’s it. That’s the sentence.
There was something so uniquely British and shenanigan-filled about the tone (very rom-com meets existential crisis), but underneath all the jokes and hijinks was this really gentle exploration of what it means to live, to love, to choose joy, to leave behind regret. Yes, I laughed out loud. Yes, I teared up (happy tears, mostly). And yes, I finished it and immediately wanted to reread.
If you love a little magic with your romance, big emotions in quirky packaging, and characters that feel like people you desperately want to root for, this one’s worth your time. It’s one of those stories that makes the end feel like a beginning.

Wow. This was actually one of the cutest rom-coms I've ever read. I wish Merritt could wipe MY memory so I could reread it. I honestly don't understand some of the reviews about not liking it, but to each their own I guess. if you're a fan of all the cliched romance tropes, I 10/10 recommend.

I am bummed because I felt so much embarrassment reading this one and the plot just felt very predictable, but not in a fun way that something in this genre could appreciate.

A warm-and-fuzzy found family novel about true love and living life to the fullest. It's also hilarious!

I was skeptical (and initially found Delphie annoyingly obtuse), but I was pleasantly surprised by the engaging plotline and the adorable and heartwarming set of relationships that end up developing. (I'm a sucker for a found family.)

Delphie is a bit disenchanted with life, a lone wolf who has very few friends. Everything is turned upside down when she chokes on a microwave burger and dies. She reawakens in a place called Evermore and starts on a trial to understand what happened and how to get home with the help of her "afterlife therapist" Merrit. While there she happens upon her soulmate, Jonah, only to realize he was there by accident and sent back to the living. Merrit makes her a deal if Delphie can find him and kiss him, she can stay alive. Too bad Jonah has no memory of their meeting.
Delphie goes on this journey to put the pieces together to find this man one more time and get the kiss she needs to stay alive, coping with the fact that if she fails she is facing imminent death. This was such a fun rollercoaster of adventure and a cute fluffy read. The side characters made this one feel alive! Everything about this was so funny!

Thank you so much to NetGalley & Berkley for an eArc of The Love of My Afterlife for an honest review.

I absolutely adored the male protagonist here, but found the woman totally insufferable. The little mermaid esque antics of "you only have so much time to make him fall in love with you!" were over the top, but the twist kept me interested to the end.

I absolutely loved it!!! Some of it was sad. But so hopeful. And fun. Merritt is a character that needs a series!

The Love of My Afterlife was a cute romantic read. I thought it might be a little sad and there definitley are some sad parts involving family loss, but done quite lightheartedly. I loved the main character Delphie, she was so relatable. Most characters in the book were adorable. How can I not love Mr. Yoon? Cooper, swoon. This was my first book by Kristy Greenwood and I look forward to reading more.

Thank you to Netgalley and the Publishing Company for this Advanced Readers Copy of The Love of My Afterlife by Kirsty Greenwood!

This was so cute and such a surprising read! I was intrigued by the synopsis and was taken on such a whirlwind with this plot. I couldn’t totally predict how everything was going to play out and that kept me hooked! I also enjoyed the found family vibes and watching Delphie grow her community and grow her confidence was so sweet.

I'm gonna be honest, I LOVE this book. I don't know if it found me at the right time, but I thought it was super funny and super cute. I will caution, you have to be okay with some big secondhand embarrassment at times!
I actually did most on audio and I think the narrator was amazing. I'm really hard to actually make laugh out loud. Like, I have anxiety of ever sitting close at a comedy show and being called out for not laughing. But, I heard the poetry at dinner scene in my car, and it had me cracking up.
While, I personally have not made a deal to come back from the dead, I think dealing with all my health stuff last year, and the idea of what would you do if you knew you had finite time left, warmed part of me. The power of books, you know?

This book is a charming blend of humor, romance, and whimsy. Delphie’s awkward yet heartfelt journey from an embarrassing death to a second chance at love is both funny and touching. The unique afterlife premise and her connection with the mysterious stranger make for a delightful, page-turning romance. Though the plot is a bit predictable at times, the humor and emotional depth shine through. Perfect for fans of feel-good rom-coms with a magical twist!

What a fun read! It definitely didn't go in the direction I thought it was going in which was a great surprise. It's so difficult to find books that aren't predictable. The characters were funny, and the twist as the end was great.

I loved the synopsis and the book absolutely delivered! Such a fun book and so enjoyable to read. Definitely will be reading future books from this author.

Holy cow this was amazing! The concept immediately drew me into wanting to try this one and it did NOT disappoint! A favorite of the year for me! I am so glad freaking cooper was the love interest because he was who I was rooting for! So so good!

Loved the premise and this book delivered. Frothy and fun, I had so much fun reading this! I can't wait to see what Greenwood comes up with next.

Yeah I am obsessed with this book. It was funny from page one and yeah, I could kind of tell from the introduction of a certain side character where this story was going, the ride getting there was FANTASTIC.
The twist at the end was very unexpected for sure so I loved that even though I sort of saw the ending coming, there was still an aspect that kept me surprised. I really loved these characters and I love that Delphie also made friends along the way, with people she's known for years and new people she met on her wacky adventures. Highly recommended by me!

If you are craving a funny, uplifting romance this month, I can't recommend this adorable novel enough, especially for fans of The Dead Romantics.
Delphie's fate takes a surprising twist when she chokes on a mediocre microwave burger at the story's start. Consequently, she is swiftly sent to Evermore, where she encounters Merritt, a romance-obsessed Afterlife Therapist, and Jonah, a man accidentally transported to Evermore due to an unusual system glitch—all in one fell swoop.
After Merritt plays her film montage of Delphie's depressing highlight reel from her childhood bullies to being abandoned by her parents, the bored Afterlife therapist wants to see if Delphie's luck can change. Delphie and Jonah instantly hit it off and have undeniable meet-cute chemistry- could a return to earth offer Delphie the happily-ever-after she's always wanted? Will it be just like her Josie Sliver romance?
Merritt enacts something called the Franklin Bellamy Clause (a clause weirdly linked to IBS) to help her reconnect with her soulmate, a gift she can only initiate once. The clause states that a Dead can be sent back to earth within three hours of arrival as long as they're not known to be deceased, so she offers Delphie the opportunity to do just that, issuing a ten-day ultimatum for her to find Jonah back in the real world and convince him to kiss her of his own free will.
He won't remember meeting her, but their chemistry should be instantaneous if he is her true soulmate. It will be just like Merritt's favorite romance books, and she'll monitor Delphie's progress every step.
With her ten-day mission in place, Delphie activates an unlikely group of allies that include her elderly nonverbal neighbor, an incredibly well-connected librarian who is skilled at gathering intel, and her brooding Timothée Chalamet neighbor who has unexpected literary layers.
As the twenty-seven-year-old virgin sets off on her mission to woo Jonah, the novel builds in hilarious scenes that made me belly-laugh. From wardrobe mishaps that yield a special cream from the pharmacy due to her pants being a tad too tight and alarming the general public to adorkable conversations that are anything but sexy, you'll be rooting for this character as she finds herself embroiled in a love triangle with some surprising twists that I never saw coming.
I especially loved her friendship with her neighbor, which will satisfy readers who love an intergenerational friendship story.
If you miss The Good Place, Merritt offers some Janet moments that build in thoughtful moments, from reckoning with your childhood bullies to the importance of the local community to finding love in unlikely places. Greenwood hit it out of the park with this quirky, magical realism romance novel!
