The disappearance of 3 year old Lily Masterton from her lavish, if not altogether happy home in Scotland, leads to a nationwide hunt for the missing child. But 3 years pass without any sign of Lily, and there are fears that she has been lost to the waters of the loch near her home.
Lily's father Tony is known to be a gangster of sorts, but there seems to be no doubt that he is devastated by the loss of his daughter. He hires the best private investigator operating as a child finder to search for her after the police investigation proves fruitless.
But Teàrlach Paterson has a tough job on his hands. For a start, Lily's nanny who was fired cannot be located. And then there are the secrets that lie beneath the surface of their family life. So Tony Masterton may find that the PI he's hired comes up with more than he expected - or wanted.
Because after a set of tiny remains are found in the loch, a deeper mystery begins to emerge from Paterson's investigations...
This is an excellent crime novel which oozes mystery, and where twists and red herrings proliferate. Paterson is a great character, and the supporting cast, especially Dee, is good too. Recommended for those who like their crime novels atmospheric, believable and cleverly plotted.
The Girl in The Loch, the first book in the Private Investigator Teàrlach Paterson series, is a fantastically plotted, clever, and gripping novel. For three long years, young Lily Masterson has been missing. Did she fall into the Loch, has she been abducted. Tony Masterson, Lily’s father, may be a dangerous man, but he is also grief-stricken, needing to find his daughter. To do so, he will hire the best, PI Paterson! What he will uncover will keep you on the edge of your seat. This captivating, fast-paced, page turner is quite emotional, quite disturbing, and quite believable. It is a well-written novel with wonderfully vivid descriptions. A must read. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The debut of Scottish PI Teàrlach Paterson does not disappoint. Andrew James Grieg adds to the growing number of enthralling thrillers from Storm Publishing. Grieg populates his tale with a powerful protagonist and a superb supporting cast. The fog of mystery emanating from the loch envelopes all of the characters--good and bad. The case of a missing child leads Paterson down a road full of many other mysteries. It's a path which leads to a terrific twist at the end. The Girl in the Loch is both an entertaining and fast read. Thank you to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for the advance reading copy in exchange for my honest opinion. #TheGirlintheLoch #NetGalley.
Teàrlach Paterson is a Private investigator employed by gangster Tony Masterton to find out what actually happened to his daughter who vanished three years ago.
Teàrlach is assisted by Dee who also works for Tony, albeit unwillingly.
A body of a three year old is found in the Loch, but is it Tony's daughter?
Very good story, although I can't say I am a fan of the style of writing. There are more rabbit holes than there are in Alice of Wonderland in this book.
Twists and secrets that will make your toes curl.
Thanks to Netgalley and Storm Publishing for the opportunity to read this book.

PI Teàrlach Paterson #1
(Pronounced Charr Loch, you can imagine which fictional detective provides an appropriate nickname!)
What happens to Lilybet Masterton who disappears from her isolated lochside home three years ago? Her father Tony, whose reputation precedes him, hires Teàrlach to find out from which point on things become increasingly deadly as it provokes a chain reaction.
I’ve not read this author before but I’m a sucker for anything set in Scotland so swooped to try this and I’m so glad I do so as it’s a really good, immersive and gripping page turner. It hooks me in from the start as it positively oozes atmosphere principally from the setting with the drama of the modern lochside glass house centre stage, looking spectacular (although not in the opinion of some locals) but it’s definitely not a happy place. To add further atmosphere the changeable weather reflects the darkening mood and the local legends inject further ambience and undertones from the mysterious sea Loch waters.
The storytelling becomes increasingly gritty and murky, there’s menace and malevolence emanating from somewhere, deepening the puzzle of what has happened to Lilybet. There are some bizarre twists and many turns as the suspect pool broadens with my suspicion antenna twitching furiously. The danger intensifies, the tension multiplies, it’s exciting in places as the inquiry heads down blind alleys with false leads and misdirection. For a long while the seasonal mists shrouding Teàrlach’s investigation don’t lift, in fact, it becomes more foggy by the day. It’s builds at a really good pace to a good ending which is dramatic and fitting.
So, what of the characters? I really like Teàrlach, he’s easy to like, he’s intelligent and dogged and holds his own very well against Tony Masterton from whom danger emanates from his pores. Tony employs Dee Fairlie who is an unconventional, motor bike riding, one off who I also like very much. All of the characters have interesting pasts and none of them are run of the mill. I can’t wait till see what they get up to next!
Overall, I enjoy this very much and it’s one I can happily recommend to fans of the mystery/thriller genre.
With thanks to NetGalley and especially to Storm Publishing for the much appreciated arc in return for an honest review.
The Girl in the Loch is a physiological thriller novel by Andrew James Greig.
This is the first novel that I have read by the author and it definitely won't be the last.
The novel was an absolute page turner and I kept reading until the end as I wanted to know what happened. It had a brilliant story with a great cast of characters. I highly recommend it.
❤️ Thank you to netgalley, storm Publishing and the author for my arc ebook copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
First read of this author and I have to say that I loved the plot and the twists. It was quite a ride.
The writing style was not my favorite, but still an enjoyable read. So many secrets discovered while trying to reveal to uncover the mystery of the missing lilibeth.
Thanks to Netgalley and Storm publishing for access to this arc in exchange for my honest review.

Three years after his child vanished Tony Masterton comes to the office of Private Investigator Teàrlach Paterson to hire him to investigate what happened then and since. The path of the investigation is as convoluted as the many plot twists and diversions. A very good read.
I requested and received an EARC from Storm Publishitng via NetGalley. Thank you
PI Teàrlach Paterson is a man with a difficult, somewhat secretive past. Well regarded in his new career, he is more than a little dubious when approached by infamous Glaswegian gangster, Tony Masterton, quested to find out what happened to his daughter three years ago. With the police having drawn a blank, Teàrlach knows he has his work cut out, especially as he doesn’t want to fall foul of Masterton.
With shades of Cormoran Strike, this was a story that jumped into action and kept going. Twists and turns, with the odd red herring, this plot had it all. Atmospheric, dark and thrilling, it was a gem.
A really good, exciting read, written by an intelligent, accomplished author. I look forward to reading more from Paterson Associates now that there is a new PI outfit on the block.
A definite recommendation.
Thank you NetGalley and Storm.

Teàrlach Paterson is a PI in Glasgow. Tony Masterson hires him to discover the mystery surrounding his daughter's disappearance 3 years ago. Tony and his wife Samantha live on the banks of a loch in the Highlands in a secluded area, and Teàrlach starts asking questions and trying to find witnesses to determine how, why, who, what and where Lilybet has vanished to! Before long, Teàrlach, Dee (who works for Tony asa pc person) and Chloe (from the Detective agency) manage to solve the mystery after a few twists and turns. I highly recommend this book. I hope there is a book 2.

This was a clever who dun it. Lilibet has been missing for three years. When Tearlach, a private investigator, is hired by Tony Masterton ( Lilibets father) things start to happen. There are red herring galore, people lying, people murdering, and lot s of people keeping secrets. We are introduced to Dee, a hacker, who works for Tony, and who has some unconventional skills. This appears to be the start of a series, and I would like to read more about Tearlach, Dee and Chloe. The atmosphere, set in Scotland was terrific, and also creepy. This was an interesting story that came at things in a different way , and had some nice humour in it too. Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for an ARC to review, my views are entirely my own.
