I liked this more than the first, maybe because I liked the characters a little more.
Roderick "Rick" Cosworth, the Duke of Stonerick has debilitating fevers and is afraid he may die young. His cousin and heir has a new baby, so the Dowager Duchess is insisting he marry. Rick says fine, show me your list and I will pick a bride. Edwina Fine is the pick. So he writes a letter, Dear Miss Fine, will you marry me, Sincerely, the Duke.
The following week, letter in hand, Edwina comes to London and shows up at his door. There is a very funny scene where the butler tries to push her out the door along with her twittering aunt, and finally, the Duke comes out to see what the kerfuffle is.
It is indeed the letter, which he thought he threw in the fire, but apparently he threw the list instead, and his mother's secretary mailed it.
Edwin has a condition for the marriage. She promised her dying father she would see her 2 sisters wed also.
What no one knows are the sisters are infamous triplets, unheard of at the time. After her mother died in childbirth, the father took the babies to York, where they have lived for 20 years. She does not tell him she is a triplet and he does not tell her about the fevers.
Ironically, when the sisters finally come to town, no one comments, they just think they look a lot alike, especially since they have red hair and green eyes, which sets hi mother all a tizzy, because they could be evil witches.
However, Rick can easily tell them a part, so it seems like true love to me.
Ironically, the sisters don't want to marry. One wants to become an astronomer and keeps trying to meet the Heschels, famous brother and sister astronomers. (Coincidentally, I just finished the Diamond of London by Penrose about Lady Hestor Stanhope and the Heschels show up in that book as well. Regency London society was relatively small).
The love that grows between the characters is slow and steady, and I look forward to seeing them again in the next book, which will be about Hurst, the 3rd Duke. I also hope to find out what happens to the sisters.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the EARC. Amelia Grey is one of my favorites and I was thrilled to give my honest review.

As a disabled person, I loved seeing a Duke with a chronic illness! Talk about being #seen. Grey writes a stirring and compelling romance - what a treat.

Thank you so much to NetGalley for this ARC! The premise is very interesting – a Duke proposing to a random girl of the ton due to a fever – but I wish I knew more about the main female character in the first half of the book. She becomes much more fleshed out in the second half once her sisters are more involved in the story, but I do wish that we had known a little more about her at the very beginning. The first half of the book starts fairly slow but the second half really moves quite quickly. I really enjoyed the plot of this book but the two main characters had so many secrets they were keeping from each other it took me a long while to warm up to them.

I enjoyed this book for the most part. At times it went slow and never really sped up. The characters both had trust issues, especially Rick, and each kept a big secret from one another until it had to be revealed.
Edwina's focus was to get herself and her sisters married because she swore to her father she would. Even though he never once attempted it because of the superstitions of triplets.
Rick was focused on getting married so he would have an heir if his mysterious illness returned and was the death of him. His personality was not the best at times.
Overall a decent book with likable characters. I am now curious about Hurst's book.

*Regency romance
*marriage of convenience (or is it?)
*immediate attraction

After reading (and not loving) the first title in this series, I was a little wary about picking this one up but I wanted to try the author’s work again, so when I saw this one available on NetGalley I decided that there was no time like the present to read another novel by the author, and I’m really glad that I did 🙂

I adored this and look forward to reading more by the author.

Thank you to St. Martin’s Paperbacks and NetGalley for the DRC

This was a fast-paced, swoon-worthy read, that I found I did not want to put down! The story was fresh, original and exciting with characters that are realistic and likable. Great read!

*I received a complimentary ARC of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.

I requested to read and review this book for free from St. Martin Publishing Company. This book has drama, romance, and mystery. Edwina made a promise to her father and she plans on keeping that promise no matter what. Rick is set in his ways and doesn't think anyone or anything can tie him down. Can two people from different social status find love with each other or are they too different to work. Will their secrets hurt themselves each other and the people around them. This book can be read anywhere but by a mature reader.

Sincerely, The Duke was a very sweet romance. What I enjoyed the most was how certain Rock was that Edwina was one for him, even if he didn’t recognize his feelings as love until much later. It was also fun to see the main characters overcome various obstacles spread throughout the book, right up to the final secrets being revealed at the end. This helped keep the story moving along.

The side characters were also delightful, from Rick’s mother to Edwina’s sisters and aunt. Each interaction between the main characters and their families endeared me even more to the two of them and showed their strong personalities and values.

I will say there were sections where the action was slowed down by lots of internal dialogue mixed into the conversation. I like to know what a character is thinking, but not when it takes me away from what they are actually saying and doing with each other.

That being said, this book was interesting for the unique superstitions that impacted the main characters, and it was satisfying to see how Rick and Edwina came together in the end. I’ll look forward to seeing if Eileen is next to share her adventures!

Interesting superstition on triplets born in the regency era and how undiscovered diseases were treated. I felt the first encounter between Edwina and the Duke ran a bit too long with multiple chapters taking place at his home office. After that the pacing picked up and the slow burn started to sizzle. Really enjoyed reading the Duke’s attempts at not falling for his wife.

This book was a sweet and simple marriage of convenience regency romance! If you liked the first book in this series, you will most likely enjoy this book! It is very similar to the plot and characters of the first book. It focused a little less on miscommunications, instead, the main conflict came from both of the main characters keeping secrets from each other, which I enjoyed more. It was a simple read but enjoyable!

Thank you to NetGalley and St Martin’s Press for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

"Sincerely, The Duke" by Amelia Grey, the second novel in the Say I Do trilogy, is a historical romance that beautifully captures the reader's attention from the very first page. The story revolves around Miss Edwina Fine, a woman with one chance to find a husband before the ton discovers her secret, and Rick, Duke of Stonerick, content with his life until the realization of his lack of an heir prompts him to propose to a woman he barely knows.

Grey's masterful storytelling introduces well-crafted characters in Rick and Edwina, both possessing strong wills and moral compasses that drive the narrative. The conflict in the story, a unique and convincing twist, adds depth to the romance beyond the typical societal rules found in historical romances.

The marriage of convenience trope is expertly executed, with Rick and Edwina navigating the complexities of their relationship while hiding their own secrets. Grey's writing is dynamic, propelling the plot forward with action rather than relying on internal monologues.

The exploration of the growing connection between Rick and Edwina, as they open up to each other and confront the spark between them, is a delightful journey towards a satisfying happily ever after. "Sincerely, The Duke" is a testament to Amelia Grey's talent in crafting engaging historical romances with compelling characters and unique conflicts that keep readers captivated until the end.

Sincerely, The Duke is book 2 in the Say I Do trilogy by Amelia Grey.
I found this story to be charming and entertaining.
The characters are quite likable and the love story was so sweet and charming.
I am positively charmed by this delightful romance. I thought it was well-written and nicely paced, with wonderful characters.
A fun historical romance that kept me turning the pages.

I really enjoyed Amelia Grey's, Sincerely, The Duke! This book has witty characters, an interesting storyline and a sexy hero. What more could you want? A marriage proposal by mail no less! This is a great read for a lazy night in or just any time. My only complaint with the book is some background history on the Duke's mysterious illness would have been great. Instead the author explained it in the ending comments.

I would like to thank Netgalley and St. Martin's Paperbacks for allowing me to read the advanced reader copy. I was in no way influenced to give a positive review.

3.5⭐️

I love historical romance.
I like the idea of how Rick chose Edwina from a list of name and made her his wife.

But I struggled with the pacing and character likability of Rick.

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

SINCERELY, THE DUKE captured me from the first page. Both Rick, Duke of Stonerick, and Edwina Fine were beautifully crafted characters. Both are strong-willed when following their own moral compass.

Many historical romances find the conflict that will keep our hero and heroine apart to be some kind of rule of society — class differences are typical. Our author, Amelia Grey, selected a very convincing conflict that I’ve never seen before. I won’t spoil it by even mentioning it.

This story features a marriage of convenience between two strangers that is complicated by each of them hiding their own secret. Grey is a talented writer whose plot moves forward with action rather than monologues of thought. I delighted in watching Rick and Edwina open up to each other and explore the spark between them on their way to happily ever after.

I was extremely fortunate to receive an ARC of Sincerely, The Duke written by the amazing Amelia Grey via Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This is the second book in the Say I Do series and can be read as a stand alone. Roderick Cosworth, the Duke of Stonerick, has determined to marry by running his finger along a list of potential brides given to him by his mother. He has a fear of not begetting an heir fast enough before his dilapidating fevers consume him
Edwina Fine is in shock when she receives a proposal by mail from a Duke. She decides to follow through so she can also fulfill her father's dying wish. The story develops beautifully as both Rick and Edwina start of their marriage as an act of convenience but with some magnetic attraction. They learn about each other's likes and good qualities, but keep some secrets hidden that become an obstacle to their romance. Another great story!

Another great book by Amelia Grey! Second book in the series is as good as the first one. I thought Rick and Edwina worked as a couple and the story that also included triplets. I highly recommend reading this book

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Oh boy Oh boy, this was such great book! Can’t say enough about it!!
Miss Edwina Fine has one shot at finding a husband before the ton learns her secret. With red hair, green eyes and being one of triplets, she knows the superstitions and rumors about women like her. So when a marriage proposal from the Duke of Stonerick arrives by mail, Edwina jumps at the chance to solve her problems. But nothing could prepare her for the attraction that sparks between them when they finally meet. It will take more than Edwina’s wit to navigate her past, reservations about marriage and the passion that ignites within her for the irresistible duke.

Rick, Duke of Stonerick, enjoys his life exactly as it is: honing his expert marksmanship, playing cards and fencing with his friends. He even enjoys exchanging affectionate humor with his mother about his lack of matrimonial engagement. But when a recurring illness reminds Rick he has no heir, he picks a name from the list of prospects his mother presents and writes a simple marriage proposal. Then he forgets about it—until that very lady with an iron will and breathtaking bravery shows up at his doorstep, ready to accept. Edwina tempts him like no other and suddenly, marriage

This story didn’t really keep my interest and I just pushed through to get to the end. The superstitions and the fanatical way Edwina wanted to follow her father got so annoying. I never really felt like she and Rick were that connected either, just was told they were.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Roderick “Rick” Cosworth, the Duke of Stonerick, co-runs a sporting club that donates its proceeds to charitable organizations. A re-occurring fever reminds him of his mortality and his obligations to his dukedom. Rick randomly chooses a bride from a list of candidates his mother drafted. He promises to help Edwina find suitable husbands for her sisters in exchange for an heir. Rick suspects she is withholding something from him. Will Rick learn Edwina’s secrets? And can he trust her with the truth about his health?

Miss Edwina Fine promises her late father she will find husbands for herself and her sisters. Fate answers her prayers. She receives a marriage proposal from a wealthy duke through the mail. Rick is nothing than what Edwina expected. She hopes he nor the Ton learn about her being a triplet. Can Edwina trust Rick with the secret of her birth? Or will she learn that all her fears and reservations are groundless? And can Edwina keep her deathbed promise to her father?

Rick is a man after my own heart. There are times, and moments, when I too have trouble tolerating people. Plus, I am not a fan of large crowds (just ask my husband during holiday shopping). So, I related with him on that score. What I adore the most about Rick is how he does not put stock in superstitions. He finds most of them laughable or foolish.

Edwina took me a while to warm up too. I can understand her trepidation about being a triplet. She grew up in a time when multiple births (more than two) were rare. They did happen but scarcely did the babes survive. Edwina was taught from a young age to fear people learning about her birth. What I like the most about Edwina is her devotion to completing her father’s deathbed wish. Some people would humor the dead. She took it seriously, to the point she disregarded her sisters’ desires.

SINCERELY, THE DUKE is the second book in Amelia Grey’s historical romance series, SAY I DO. The story can easily stand alone. However, the first book (YOURS TRULY, THE DUKE) explains the reasons behind the sports club Rick and his two ducal friends co-founded. Wyatt and Fredericka, the couple from the prior story, do make a small appearance. I like how the author does not boggle the story or its pacing down with unnecessary sex scenes. The only such scene is not steamy, spicy nor long. Sometimes I feel authors go over-the-top with such scenes.

I cannot wait for Hurst’s book! I wonder how the author plans to continue the letter complimentary closing theme with his book title. Also, I wonder if Eileen will get a book. I sense a story brewing there; one I would be interested in reading.
