I was intrigued; I was interested. I didn’t feel the need to rush this book. It made me think. It made me question. It made me read.

What a heartbreaking book! I absolutely loved every second of it! It's such a nice quick read to get off a slump. The writing was super easy to follow along even though it jumped back and forth. I loved each character and loved the twist even more. Thank you, Netgallery, for sending me an ARC 🌟

While the story itself is engaging, the final revelation may leave some scratching their heads. It doesn’t quite have the impact one might expect, and it feels like a bit of a stretch, which detracts from the emotional payoff of the mystery. Without giving anything away, it’s safe to say that the twist may not land as smoothly as hoped for some, and the resolution feels somewhat underdeveloped.

This book is seriously underrated and deserves more recognition. It has one of the most unique and unexpected endings in YA thrillers.
The characters were well-developed, and while the fast pace kept things engaging, there were moments that felt a bit drawn out. The dual POV and the shifting between past and present added depth and made the story even more compelling.

Megan Davidhizar‘s suspense novel, Silent Sister, takes the reader on a wild journey, filled with tension, doubts, and big reveals. During a class trip, two sisters, Grace and Maddy, go missing. Only one is found. The mystery of how she and her sister went missing, and how eventually she was found- with Maddy‘s blood on her clothes- takes the reader through twists and turns that are unexpected. Davidhizar spins a tale of two sisters who could not be more different. Grace- popular, outgoing, athletic; Maddy- shy, private, inexperienced. And as we get to know what happened, and Grace slowly comes to term with her past, the truth slowly reveals itself, drip by drip. While the writing was clean and tight, the ending was not as satisfying as it could have been. The ‚twist‘ was not as shocking as I think Davidhizar aimed for. That said, the novel was still a fun read and gave enough suspense to keep the reader interested.

Thank you for NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
Two sisters go missing from a school sponsored get-away. One sister is found battered and remembering nothing of what happened. Now the reader finds themselves alternating between the mind of a damaged girl trying to piece together what happened that night, and memories of the missing sister during the days leading up to the disappearance.
Silent Sister is a dark study in guilt, both the fresh guilt from recent events and guilt that has been allowed to fester for years. If you like stories with unreliable narrators, you'll enjoy this one. Our main narrator, Grace, even questions her own role in her sister's disappearance.. Those rumors that she did something to her sister can't be true... can they? Why is everyone being so secretive around her? Why is her best friend avoiding her?
It's not what you could call an action packed book. It's more a slow-burn, psychological study. But the plot twist at the end had me tempted to immediately re-read the book to see if I could spot the clues now that I knew the secret.

Loved this YA book. I liked the way it was past/present set up for the story. It was very engaging the whole way through.

Wow! A fast paced story that will keep you guessing.
A sad tale of two sisters and the relationship they each think they have with each other. How in the end one of them finally understands and finally looks deep to really see who SHE is. She learns how to accept the lessons life throws at you.
This author is definitely going on my fave shelf. I didn’t want to put this book down.

I needed to start the year with some lighter, not so serious reads. And it’s been refreshing. This was no exception. I will be recommending this to my YA students. My discrepancy with stars really is because it was predictable. I figured out the twists early on. Still very well written and I enjoyed the story.
Grace and her twin sister Maddie go on the senior retreat at the same time even though they have very different friends. But only one of them comes back. That’s where the story starts and everyone is trying to figure out exactly what happened and where things went so wrong.
Thank you @netgalley and @delacortepress for the advance digital copy. All opinions are mine.

This story was an interesting story from an author I don’t know or haven’t read before! Will look at finding other things by this author. I am grateful for the early access, thank you to those that allowed it!

Thank you to Random House Children's for this eARC!
I think this is a great mystery/thriller for young adults. Loved reading Grace & Maddy's story and hope to introduce this to my students one day.

Grace and Maddy, sisters, go missing on a class trip. Grace is found injured with no recollection of what happened or where Maddy is. Everyone thinks she's lying and Grace sets out to prove her innocence. The story was well told and the different perspective of the sisters was engaging.

Be ready to think, analyze, cry, and try to understand. This is a twisty story of teen angst and drama and how utterly confusing being a teenage girl truly is at times

Silent Sister opens up with one sister in the hospital, lacking most of her memories from the last week or so but knowing that her sister is missing. Then we start going back and forth between when the mysterious event happened and the sister trying to piece together exactly what the series of events was.
I thought that the book was pretty fast passed and the plot was interesting. I was not entirely surprised by one of the twists but I still enjoyed it overall and thought it was an interesting read that many teens will enjoy. I also appreciated that it was nice and suspenseful without there being a lot of content that could possibly be problematic or difficult for younger teens.

I received a free copy from NetGalley. Two sisters go out, only one sister comes back and she doesn't remember what happened. Told from both sisters' points of view with one in the past and one in the future the ending gets interesting. Occasionally had to check which sister/timeline I was in while reading.

This is a YA book with unreliable Narrator. I really like these kinds of plot. This revolves around Maddy and Grace, sisters. One sister suddenly disappears during their senior camp/retreat. One got home safely but with a huge gap in her memory. Now I think this book has multiple layers. There's the mystery on what actually happened to the missing sister, who did what and why. There's also another part where the characters are learning about and making peace with themselves during this sabbatical. Those were actually pretty profound and I thought that was a nice touch. The family and high-school drama were good. But I just thought that there were some things in the plot that felt unstable, not plausible or just not hitting hard. The main twist in this story was actually good but I called it early on. I didn't think that there were a lot of obvious indicators right away but there were a few that made me suspect it quickly.
Overall, I thought this was a decent read. I enjoyed it but nothing nailbiting. The book kept me interested enough to be curious about what actually happened.
Thank you Random House Delacorte Press for a gifted e-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Silent Sister by Davidhizar was an interesting read on how school trips can go sideways and how trauma can effect an entire family and one's mental state.

The "missing person plus a person found covered in blood with amnesia" is actually a big trope in YA. Surprising but true.
During a class trip, two sisters go missing. Grace is found, but her sister Maddy is still missing. What happened?
Grace, who is suffering from amnesia, wonders if she could somehow be responsible for what happened to Maddy.. Grace is a popular student athlete. Maddy is more sensitive and artistic.
Of course, both sisters have secrets. While this book takes some time to get going, it actually gets really good by the end!

Can I send my therapy bill to this author? WHY DID I CRY SO HARD 😭😭😭 will be recommending this books as a heart wrenching, stare at the wall after finishing type read.

Silent Sister absolutely lived up to the hype! Megan Davidhizar has crafted a gripping, edge-of-your-seat thriller that dives deep into family drama, secrets, and betrayal. The story revolves around the mysterious disappearance of two sisters—Grace, the popular athlete, and Maddy, the quiet, introverted girl with secrets tucked away in her journal.
The plot pulled me in immediately. When Grace returned from the trip, or rather was found, injured and unable to remember what happened to her sister, suspicion falls heavily on her, especially when Maddy’s blood is found on her clothes. Davidhizar does an excellent job of building tension and creating an atmosphere where everyone seems to have something to hide.
What made this book truly unforgettable was the twist at the end—I didn’t see it coming at all! But once I figured it out, it was like everything fell into place; the clues had been there all along, woven so perfectly into the story. It made for a satisfying and perfectly crafted conclusion that left me reeling.
Highly recommend Silent Sister. It’s the perfect YA Mystery Thriller novel!
