I'm sorry, but I'm so bored. Natalie and Finn do outdoorsy-ish things and have personal drama. I cannot be bothered. I guess I just didn't really like them and didn't care. I tried though. I really tried. Finn was entirely too grumpy/too much of an a**hole for me to ever get 100% behind him. And Natalie was kind of a mess. I know she was supposed to be. But it was a lot. This was a little too heavy on the personal issues to really be a romcom. But Finn and Natalie lacked the depth for me to really root for them. I wanted to, but everything felt too flat and two-dimensional. Overall, this definitely wasn't the book for me. The cover is super cute though.

This was such a cute and lighthearted romance between two teens on a reality adventure show and I really enjoyed the outdoorsy theme!

While the grumpy in the grumpy/sunshine almost turned around overnight, I did appreciate that there wasn’t instant love and that the relationship between the two characters had to develop. I liked the anxiety representation we got with Natalie and how attuned to it Finn becomes. They might be polar opposites, but they ended up working so well with each other through the challenges and I loved Natalie’s determination to embrace being the pretty girl while also putting in the work that she feels most people don’t give her credit for. Her unconventional approaches to wilderness challenges proved useful. Watching her overcome her inner turmoil to find value in herself when her family doesn’t was heartbreaking yet inspiring. The battle with grief that both Natalie and Finn shared also helped them grow closer and gave them a shared vulnerability.

Kaitlyn’s books are always fun and I love how relatable her characters are. I enjoy how the characters across books are interconnected and how close their friend group is. As wild as the adventure reality show, Natalie’s journey with Finn will leave you satisfied and itching to hit up your nearest trail for your own adventure.

I was already a fan after Not Here to Stay Friends, but Wild About You is Kaitlyn Hill's best book so far.

🏕Grumpy x Sunshine
🏕Forced Proximity/Partners
🏕Only One Tent
🏕Backpack Adjusting - in which MMC adjusts FMC's backpack. (Possibly one of my new fave micro tropes)

The relationship was so cute and REAL. Natalie and Finn had a rough journey, literally and figuratively, but they faced their challenges and learned a lot about each other. With all the swoony and sweet moments along the trail!

There were heavier tones of anxiety and grief, both of which were represented well, but it was still a light-hearted read. It was a perfect balance with the romance and humor. I laughed a lot and cried only a little.

Like Natalie, I am an uncooked s'more. Read this book to find out if you are too. It has all the camping vibes and belongs on everyone's summer TBR this year.

This book is cute for what it was. A reality TV show romance between two college students.

My main issue is that I kept forgetting the characters weren’t in high school. They were so immature and whiny that I thought they were much younger than they actually were.

Other than that I had a few minor issues with the mmc being as interesting as stale bread and the inconsistent pacing of the story.

This book is no literary masterpiece, but it is fun, entertaining, and a cute summer read.

Lovely YA rom-com with heavy subjects as well. My high school students will like this one! Forced proximity, enemies to lovers, one tent, etc. Not spicy. 😀

This was a fun new adult romance that thoughtfully tackled the topics of grief and anxiety. I loved the hiking-meets-reality-TV angle. Natalie as a character felt unique to me and I loved her dynamic with Finn. A great read!

Many thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I'm in the middle on this one. It was kinda cute, kinda slow. It's an easy YA read and you'll enjoy it if you like reality tv premises and grumpy sunshine/enemies to lovers/forced proximity tropes.

Wild About You follows Natalie who decides to go on a reality show called Wild Adventures. Which is a show about hiking the Appalachian Trail while competing and challenges. If she wins she will get money to help her pay for college. She gets partnered up with Finn who does not want to work with her. Finn wants nothing to do with Natalie but they have to work together in order to win. The more time Finn and Natalie spend together they start to like each other. Are they meant to be together or is it all for show?

I thought this book was really cute. I really liked how this book focused on some heavier topics like anxiety to balance out the more lighthearted parts. I liked the enemies to lovers. I also overall really enjoyed the plot. I do feel like it was a bit repetitive at times. But overall a cute YA book.

This was a very cute book and a fun, easy read! As a reality tv fan, I always love picking up romances that take place on set of reality shows, and this one did not disappoint. The main characters are on a Survivor-type reality show where college students are paired up with strangers and sent to complete challenges and reside in the outdoors. Natalie was fun and outgoing, while Finn was more quiet and serious. Their dynamic as a team, especially starting out not getting along very well, made this is a very exciting read. I’d definitely read more books by the author in the future!

Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this ARC!

thank you so much to netgalley and delacorte romance for the arc! this book was lovely! i felt like this was such a unique premise and storyline, i truly enjoyed it every step of the way! hill’’s previous books have all had some kind of tv or reality tv aspect but i enjoyed the twist of a nature show- especially as someone who is not outdoorsy this was so fun to read! i give our MCs so many props for camping in the woods! especially with natalie managing to keep up her skin care and makeup routine! this book did a wonderful job addressing the topics of grief and anxiety, i really enjoyed how our characters learned to better cope with and understand their feelings throughout the book. we love seeing people learn to prioritise their mental health! our two main characters natalie and finn were such a delight together! i truly am a sucker for a good grumpy/sunshine trope and wild adventures delivered!! the way the relationship developed between the two of them was special- i loved seeing when they realised there was so much more to one another and they had a lot of common ground. i adored the banter and cheesiness that the two shared! hill has never disappointed me with one of her books! she is one of the few YA authors i continue to enjoy reading as i get older! this book was a heartwarming tale about falling in love with someone else but also yourself!

THE GIST:
Natalie, a college student with a fresh anxiety diagnosis, just lost her merit scholarship. She's up to her ears in student loans and her unsupportive parents are zero help. So, in a last-ditch effort to get the money she needs, she signs up for the Wild Adventures reality show for a chance to win a $100,000 scholarship.

Sure, some might call her indoorsy and has a 12-step skincare regimen she refuses to skip on, but she's read a ton of rugged romance novels and has a pair for brand new hiking boots ready to go!

How hard could it be?

THOUGHTS AND THINGS:
A bunch of college kids out in the woods surviving and completing challenges? Sign me up!

I loved this sweet and adventurous YA rom-com!

The Appalachian Trail setting set the mood for a beautiful and scenic story. Both of the main characters were likeable and their relationship was believable. The grief and family drama gave it a heartfelt and emotional element that I appreciated.

But mostly, the challenges and reality show aspect was super fun! I really enjoyed watching them grow as a team and seeing what crazy things they'd have to do next.

Overall it was really cute YA rom-com.

If you loved The old school MTV shows Real World or Road Rules this one's for you! Or if you're not an '80s baby like me but love Survivor and The Amazing Race, pick this one up!

Upon beginning this book, I was unaware of its connection to the author's preceding works, yet it stands on its own merit. The narrative intertwines with the author's first two books, although it can be enjoyed independently, featuring Natalie, who shares a close bond with the protagonists of the preceding novels.

The storyline revolves around Natalie, a college freshman, and Finn, participants in a reality TV show centered on hiking a segment of the Appalachian Trail, catering to an upper Young Adult audience. The dynamic between Finn and Natalie is a standout element, showcasing significant character development as they transition from initial discord to mutual understanding. While the pacing may have lagged slightly in the middle sections, I still wholeheartedly endorse this book. It is a delightful contemporary read, with many laughs and lots of fun complemented by a beautiful cover that adds to its charm.

Unexpectedly, the book delves into the portrayal of anxiety, a theme that is prominently highlighted throughout the narrative and one that was so very relatable and much appreciated.

4.5/5 ⭐️
If you’re like me and always wondered what it would be like to experience The Hunger Games in real life, but obviously without all the trying to kill one another, well this book is that. But you also have mixed in the reality game show element of Survivor. Not only did the FMC remind me of Peeta and the Love Interest reminded of Katniss, but a lot of their beats throughout this story was reminiscent to theirs in book one.
I absolutely enjoyed this book. I binged read it in one day. At first the main character, Natalie kind of reminded me of the ditzy girl in the movie Zombieland. She’s the make up obsessed, theater major angle to the reality show. To me, she was instantly love able. She was funny without feeling forced. Mostly I found myself laughing out loud at all her self-deprecating jokes. And I think I appreciated Natalie more for being quirky yet relatable without feeling forced and eye rolling after reading another book that just didn’t capture the same magical spark I need to be invested in the rest of the story.
Overall, this was super cute. I definitely could relate to Natalie’s anxiety. It was very similar to how mine likes to manifest. And I loved how much it reminded me of the Hunger Games, capturing the same conflict and tension and relationships that I think other stories struggle to capture when they try writing stories like that series. I highly recommend everyone check this book out.

A cute enemies to lovers story that takes place in a reality survival tv show setting. I love watching the tv shows like Wild Adventurers and this paired with romance made for a perfect story!

I keep going back and forth between three and four stars for this one. I immediately fell in love with Natalie. Her banter for the camera was quirky and hilarious. And Finn was a perfect setup as the grumpy unlikeable partner. Of course we knew they would eventually fall in love – this is a YA romance after all, but the change came about too quickly – about halfway through the novel. I wanted a bit more conflict. Yes, there was still conflict surrounding Natalie’s anxiety disorder and misinterpretation of Finn’s intentions, but I wanted more trials and tribulations before the romance began. For this reason, although I did finish and enjoyed the story I have settled on 3.5 stars. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
