It was a cute beach read but not my favorite. It was okay enough that I’m not mad I pushed through but I don’t think I would read it again. I do think others who like contemporary romance would like this book

Three girls with different reasons for taking a vacation converge on a beach resort to find themselves again. What they find is friendship, many problem situations, and in the end they find out about themselves and what they want out of life. This was a cute, easy beach read that wasn't too deep. I really enjoyed this book, I feel it is more of an adult book than a young adult. The friendships that were made and the situations that the girls were in were funny and kept me interested and reading. It was a light read, where things did not get too serious. The cover and title are very very very catchy! This book I will not use with my students. But will suggest for others to read. It was the most perfect read to start out the summer!

I really enjoyed this frothy summer novel! Luna, Rory, and Jodie are strangers who have all signed up for the same digital-detox week at a resort in Majorca, Spain. They're all trying to avoid something, whether it's a breakup or an uncomfortable conversation about what they want to do with the rest of their lives. Their paths cross in the airport, and by the time they get checked into the resort, they've banded together as friends for the week.

And it's a good thing they did, as there are plenty of misadventures ahead! But of course, they come to find a deep friendship that helps them navigate the challenges they were trying to escape from when they signed up for the trip.

I thought the novel was a lot of fun, but it's probably best marketed for new adult, rather than young adult, audiences. Drinking plays a heavy role in the novel, and while it's legal given the European setting, it's not something I would feel comfortable recommending to students (or to my audience, which is primarily teachers looking for books to recommend to students).

good mystery and i loved the friends too. I really enjoyed the romance and how it solved . I also loved reading this author. Really enjoyed her friends. Great book.

As someone whose youth was centered around going to the local library to get the newest Kissing Booth book, I was eager and excited to see a new book from the same author! However, I felt like this one really missed the mark. The characters were all irredeemably annoying and I never felt like this book went anywhere. Maybe that's because I'm an adult reading a young adult novel, but even regularly reading YA works from other authors, I feel like this one just doesn't stack up.

There was no plot, it felt like a book full of exposition (and a tad too long, if you ask me). Will I read a sequel to see how the friendship of the girls holds up? Most likely. But will I recommend anyone start this series if they want to feel satisfied? Not a chance.

Beach Cute follows the journeys of Rory, Luna, and Jodie, who converge at a Spanish resort seeking escape. Aspiring artist Rory grapples with the expectations of her family and feeling pressured to go to law school. Luna reels from heartbreak. And Jodie needs a break from juggling college and work.
Their vacation takes a tumultuous turn when they discover electronics are banned on this retreat, even kindles. The vacation is not as relaxing as expected what with a dictatorial manager, hotel leaks, and a whirlwind of misfortune. Despite a slow start, I couldn't put it down. I absolutely loved all the little mishaps occurring at the resort, it made the story comical.

I would have loved to see better character growth with Rory and Jodie as I feel like their growth happened by luck, Rory falling into the pool, becoming a viral sensation, and Jodie finding relaxation just because she found a guy. As annoying as Luna was throughout the story, I felt as though she was the only one who really made progress as she eventually got over her ex with the help of her new friends.

Overall, Beach Cute is a fun and quick summer read that I would most definitely recommend.

Beach Cute by Beth Reekles is a new young adult contemporary romance read. The story in Beach Cute is one that is told by changing the point of view between the three main characters letting readers get to know each of them.

Luna, Rory and Jodie have never met but each have their own reasons for needing to get away for a vacation and are hoping the week away will do them some good. Luna had just broken up with her boyfriend, Rory has been struggling with what she wants to do in life and Jodie has just been feeling lost.

Whatever the reasons bringing them there all Luna, Rory and Jodie end up at the same resort to find things are not what they expected. Relaxation doesn’t come easy in a place where all electronics are prohibited and mandatory classes are enforced. Soon comes a friendship formed in the shared ordeal that they find will last a lifetime.

It’s no secret that I love a good beach setting in my books no matter the genre and while I may be older than the target audience for Beach Cute by Beth Reekles I just couldn’t resist. This was a fun story of three teens coming together at a time when they were trying to figure out who they were and bonding during what turned into an eventful vacay. Overall a great quick and fun read just in time for summer.

I *love* a good YA novel. But y'all, this was not it. The premise sounded so cute, three gals, probably in their early uni years, connect on a slightly out of the box vacation in Spain. I was initially excited about having three narrators so the reader could get everyone's POV but all three had way too similar woe is me mindsets that I truly couldn't recall who was speaking for each chapter. The plot was messy, the place they're staying sounds like a disaster, and there was no resolution at the end, yes the girls were the best of friends, but it felt like none of the issues that cause them to go on this vacation were resolved, and the issues that popped up while they were at the resort were left unresolved as well.

The writing in this book was very contemporary-feeling, with lots of references to TikTok. I think this will be appealing to the teen audience for which it is intended, but it was just a bit too much for this 40-something reader. I didn't finish the book, but the problem was with me and my own interests, not the story itself. The cover is absolutely adorable and made me long for summer to get here!

This book was a struggle to get through. I really wanted to DNF it, but kept pushing on in hopes it would get just a little bit better but it didn’t.

This book was marketed as a YA romance, which the “romance” aspect of the story wasn’t until much later on. Not to mention the book is called “Beach Cute” but they don’t even spend anytime at the beach.. and there was nothing cute about this story.

I also couldn’t help but feeling for most of the beginning of the story, that it was being set up as a thriller. There was this ominous tone the way the resort was being written about that made the vibe for a fun beach read feel off.

Also the characters… all three girls were so hard to like. They were downright immature, addicted to technology, not very good friends, and super whiny. The story was also told from multiple POV and hopped around so much it was hard for me to keep each girl and their backstory straight.

Overall, I think this book had potential to be a fun summer read, but this was just a disaster of a read.

This book hooked me in from the first chapter. I loved the character development and how the story progressed.

This book follows three college students (so this is upper YA) who take a device free vacation to a Spanish resort. Each girl is dealing with a different issue: burnout (Jodie), a bad breakup (Luna), and the struggle between following her own passion and disappointing her parents (Rory).

I didn’t know much about this before I started reading. I love cute summery contemporaries and between the premise and the cute cover which just screams summer to me. All that to say that I thought this was about three friends who go on vacation together. Nope! They’re three random strangers who happen to be vacationing in the same spot, so this is very much a story about the evolution of a friendship. I really liked that! Too often romance overshadows the friendships that characters have, but that didn’t happen here. It was nice to see the friendship between the girls grow and change.

This is very much a character driven story, with plenty of humor and heart. I really enjoyed this book and I’d definitely recommend it to those who enjoy summery reads and/or character driven stories.

I liked the idea of three people forming a friendship over a vacation. I was excited for the read but it was kind of hard to keep the characters straight. Two of them were very similar so I had to keep going back to check the names. While it had some interesting parts I would say it was okay read. More on the light side, which is nice but the characters aren’t memorable. There wasn’t anything that stayed with you. If you want a quick read that’s a light escape this book is a great option.
