An excellent collection of short stories by a new-to-me Canadian author! Originally published in 2014, this new edition includes three additional stories. Each story is a little gem, a careful observation of humour behaviour. Indeed, in many of of the stories, characters are observing each other and figuring out hteir own reliance on/ distance from/ connection to other people. And there was just enough whimsy or weirdness to keep them surprising.

I don’t really read short story collections but was intrigued by the blurb on this one. There were stories which I felt took me out of my comfort zone and that is never a bad thing! Definitely one that I came back to between longer fiction reads

unfortunately this one wasn't for me. I think the writing was great, but it felt out of my realm. there were a few stories I enjoyed, but a few were quote confusing for me. I think this was a me problem + not an issue with the book.

This collection of short stories by Cayley is truly exceptional, captivating my interest and leaving me impressed, despite veering from my typical reading preferences. Cayley skillfully strikes a delicate balance between realism and absurdity in each tale, ensuring that they are well-paced and of optimal length – neither rushed nor dragging. Reading through this anthology felt akin to indulging in a box of exquisite chocolates, each story offering a unique and delightful experience.

Easy-to-read and quirky these stories were a pleasant change of pace for me. I liked they left me thinking about what I just learned from each character. Solid writing and very creative. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
