This was such a cute book. This book is great for drinkers and no drinkers alike. It has amazing recipes and alcohol suggestions if that’s what your into. But the best part is all the little antidotes. Such a fun read for a recipe book. Highly recommend.
I’m sure this is a wonderful drink book but when every page is watermarked (and not a faded watermark) for review only, it’s impossible to accurately or easily read to review. I’ve tried multiple times only to get eye strain which lead to a headache.
A great book that is geared towards the moms-to-be crowd by offering them refreshing non-alcoholic beverages that are sophisticated and refreshing, but guess what this book isn't just for moms-to-be! This book could be bought by or given to anyone who likes a refreshing drink sans alcohol! The recipes really cater to those of us who really like fresh ingredients. Lots of fresh fruit, berries, herbs, vegetables and more are recommended in this book. The drinks are fun, classy looking and extremely tasty. For those who are ready to add in alcohol, then you are in luck as all the recipes could be served with alcohol added, but honestly, I'm not sure you would want to bother. There are even recipes for some appetizers to pair with your drinks as well as suggestions for holidays. I know I got plenty of ideas for several events that I have upcoming that I can't wait to try out and see if everyone loves them as much as I did! Easy to follow recipes including pictures of what the drinks should look like, fresh ingredients that are fairly easy to source and you end up with a tasty beverage. I think this is a win, win, win!!
Honestly this is a perfect book for anyone, pregnant or not, who wants an amazing-tasting martini without the alcohol! I made some of these at book club and they were a hit!
I found this book to be really inspiring, especially since you can find tasty recipes that don't require hard to find ingredients.
I love mocktails, but I am happy that some recipes tell you what you can add to transform it into a cocktail for your friends if you want.
The way the book is organized is very nice, starting with the utensils and glasses you need, as well as how to make your own syrups and then each chapter is dedicated to a pregnancy phase.
The recipes are quite straight forward, so you can make yourself some delicious mocktails in no time

Preggatinis - Mixology for the Mom-to-Be
by Natalie Bovis
What a fun and creative book! As a new mom this one really grabbed my attention. Even now with nursing my little one I still refrain from alcohol and this book was such a fun find for me. The recipes for each drink are so clear and easy to follow. There were some classic ideas and some really great new drinks to try. The recipe uses fresh produce and juices, great for new moms. There are also guides to what to pair with the mocktails such as yummy appetizers. Perfect for a baby shower or gender reveal party. We had so much fun trying these delicious treats. My favorites were the White Hot Mama, Call Me Princess Preggatini, and of course the Milfshake. There was also a wonderful Peanut Mole with Roasted Chicken Thighs and Acorn Squash. These recipes work for the mommy to be and include ingredients that are helpful to a mommy diet and even some that help with morning sickness. It is full of advice, tastiness and fun. You're going to love this book. The photography by Claire Barrett shows the creativity of the drinks. I highly recommend this to all future mommys or those who are looking for a tasty mocktail. It makes a great gift as well. Enjoy!
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC! Super fun book that explains all the steps and details of making cocktails and "mocktails". Fun recipe ideas
This is an adorable book meant for pregnant women with drinks that can help through all the stages of pregnancy. But pregnant women won't be the only one who gets value from this: I am trying to cut down on my alcohol intake because I had a kidney transplant. So I love the drinks and having more options without a buzz. I love the party ideas built around the drinks and give options for those boozy friends. With gorgeous pictures and easy-to-follow instructions, I'll be keeping this book on hand.
I requested a copy of this book due to interest in mocktail recipes. The focus on pregnancy wasn't relevant to me. The recipes are organized by stages of pregnancy and other special categories like holidays. It might be a bit of a stretch to categorize them that way, but that's fine. The recipes also include suggestions for making the drinks alcoholic and which type of glass to serve them in. All in all, it's a fine book of recipes without anything to make it a standout.

Some of the recipes sound nice but they are not basic and require an actual drink mixing set. I generally didn't like the ton and voice of this book.
3.5 stars
Mocktail recipes for expectant moms, or really anyone who doesn’t drink.
The layout of the book starts with an introduction, then "pre-pregnancy," “first trimester," “second trimester," and “third trimester." Plus, there is a postpartum/breastfeeding section that includes recipes with alcohol that can easily be substituted out.
The recipes are targeted at what most people experience during each trimester. For example, nausea during the first trimester includes drinks that help remedy that.
The book features cocktails that use some traditional, non-alcoholic ingredients, such as bitters and syrups. As well as the methods to make the traditional cocktail. Some also use non-alcoholic liquor.
This is definitely a great idea for moms, especially those who enjoy cocktails. The only thing is that this definitely seems to be targeted at those with a fully stocked home bar. A lot of the recipes have ingredients that you don’t typically have. With this, you still need to buy non-alcoholic liquor, syrups, etc. At that point, I would just find premade mocktails.
I wouldn’t recommend this for anyone who just occasionally enjoys cocktails, but if you are someone who drinks them often and makes them often, this is for you!
This is a great reference for anyone wanting non-alcoholic cocktails, pregnant or not. The author also gives some great tips on how to "spice up" the cocktails if you want to add alcohol. They are easy to follow recipes and seem like they would all taste good.
I requested a digital review copy of Preggatinis in preparation for the holidays with family, including one couple expecting a child. This book is, however, so much more than just mocktail recipes, and will be a frequent reference for not only the delicious celebratory mocktails, but also the snacks and sips for any occasion.
I would recommend this book for anyone who is trying to get sober, playing with a dry January, or stop drinking altogether, even if a pregnancy is not a factor. For pregnant women, the book is divided into sections for each trimester, and includes pre-pregnancy and after the birth drinks, as well. Themed party ideas that include food/snacks along with mocktails for serving a group would be perfect for a baby shower, and scalable for a large group. For those that are trying to reduce or eliminate alcohol consumption, Preggatinis has tons of recipes for fancy and simple mocktails, and for those that are still drinking alcohol, most of the recipes have directions for adding an 'extra kick' with spirits.
The recipes that I tried are delicious, and I am looking forward to trying many more. Thank you to Netgalley and Globe Pequot for the digital ARC of Preggatinis: Mixology for the Mom-to-Be by Natalie Bovis. The opinions in this review are my own.
This recipe book wasn't my favorite and isn't one I'd recommend. This recipe book was divided into the following categories: pre-pregnancy, first trimester, second trimester, third trimester, the preggatini party, holidays, and breastfeeding and beyond. I didn't find the ordering of the categories to make sense and some seemed irrelevant to the main idea of this recipe book. Going off of my previous experience with cookbooks and drink recipe books, I was surprised and disappointed to see how many of these mocktails contained non-alcoholic spirits, rather than just omitting that extra ingredient altogether. Along with the non-alcoholic spirits, many of the ingredients included in the recipes aren't commonly found in a household. Due to this, I picked only one recipe to try that consisted mostly of ingredients I enjoy and use on a regular basis. Unfortunately, I wasn't a fan of the drink.I also found the addition of appetizers randomly throughout the book to be confusing and unnecessary. The description mentions "a guide to pairing delectable appetizers with themed mocktails", but this didn't deliver that. I'm a big fan of cookbooks and drink recipe books, however I was pretty disappointed with this one.
