Was so happy to get this ARC, it is a great guide on euro nymphing. Can’t wait to get this for my fly fisherman husband!
I've been fly fishing for trout for over 50 years now. As a boy in Wisconsin, during my career in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and now as a retiree in the PNW. I spend a lot of time on the water, tie my own flies, and belong to a serious fly fishing club. But I'm aware that I am only scratching the surface on what I know.
For example, a lot of the current talk in the sport is about "Euro Nymphing". I knew the basics, and could do it somewhat well. Then I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley. Wow! What an eye opener. I could imitate Sgt Schultz from Hogan's Heroes, and honestly say, "I know nothing! NOTHING!"
This book is a master class in Euro Nymphing. As well as great information about trout fishing in general. The author has done his research, and then some. He interviews many other great fishermen/women, combines their knowledge with his own, and puts it down here in an easily understood, well photographed, scholarly manual. No fooling, if you read this and absorb it well, you will find yourself a much much better fisherperson!
Myself, I can't wait for a little warmer weather so I can get back up in the mountains and start fishing with a new bag of tricks and confidence. Look out, fishies!
