I enjoyed this book really well.
From the beginning when the death takes place and then alternative chapters from two characters telling one story from past and one from future.
Only that past story seemed a bit more than required when I was reading but maybe it would have been a clue to the final reveal.
Though I understood the final reveal when the first suspense was revealed maybe author wanted it to be revealed who knows.
But still liked this book
It kept me on toes.
It's a good book.
Many creative ideas in story.
Would definitely love to read more from the author.

Thanks to Netgally and Bookouture publishing, I was given the opportunity to read this book before it was released to the public. This one absolutely kept me on the edge of my seat and I was in a constant battle trying to figure out who was writing the story. I love books like this that keep me guessing and pull me in from the start. The characters were suspicious and charming so my mind was in a continuous battle with which team I was rooting for. This was the first book I’ve read by this author and it won’t be the last.

I absolutely loved this book. I choose many mystery books via Netgalley that has many starting or new authors and it is rare when you come across a book that gets you so involved.

Great writing, great twists. If you love mysteries and who has done it, this is an excellent choice. The author knows how to build the suspense every single chapter and it is such a great built up. I didn't see the twist although I read a lot of mystery books and often can see through the story, but not this one. So I was very pleasantly surprised that the author managed to fool me.

Thank you Netgalley for introducing me to this author and for a free copy in exchange of an honesty review. I cannot wait to discover what else this author has written. Thank you!

Great suspense book. The writing kept me engaged. I feel that there was a little too much Gwyn when ultimately she didn’t matter to the end of the story. I was surprised my most of the twists.

Wow! Never Trust The Husband is a thoroughly entertaining and compelling read. The writing is stellar, the pacing is perfect, and the characters are interesting, whether they're likeable or not. I became totally invested in the protagonist's quest to find Madeline's killer and enact revenge. This strong and determined woman isn't squeamish in her quest for vigilante justice and doesn't back down. I liked that she has guts and unshakable determination and I rooted for her in every scene.

I love reading about strong women, even when I need to suspend my disbelief and put my personal moral code on pause for a story. After all, this novel is written for entertainment. And entertaining, it is! No spoilers here, so you'll have to read the book to discover the twists, turns, red herrings and mystery solution. Never Trust The Husband is well crafted and would make a great movie. Don't miss this one!

A quick and enjoyable read full of twists that’s hard to put down. The book is written in the perspectives of two characters - Madeline (4 years ago) who was murdered days after her wedding day and Rebecca (now) who desperately is trying to figure out who the killer was. Her main suspects - Benjamin, Madeline’s husband and Gwen her best friend who are now engaged to each other.
I thought I had figured out a few twists early on however I’ll happily admit I didn’t have it all figured out.
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a psychological thriller and I look forward to reading more from the author.

This was a good book- very addictive and easy to get swept up in. I absolutely loved the short chapters and alternating timelines. It was a bit of of slow burn until about 60%, and then it took off but in a great way. My only issue was that I was able to predict the first twist at the 60% mark- and then the twist after that at about 85/90%.
Still, it was quite fun and kept me entertained.
Many thanks to the publisher and to NetGalley for the ARC.

Wealthy social media influencer Madeline Hughes was pushed off a cliff just days after her marriage to the handsome and seemingly perfect winery owner Benjamin. But looks can be deceiving, and maybe Benji isn’t as on the up-and-up as he looked, considering he’s now engaged to Madeline’s former bestie Gwyn. Although no one was ever arrested for what happened to Madeline, a mysterious woman named Rebecca is convinced that Benjamin or Gwyn had something to do with it, and she’s keeping them under very close surveillance. After all, you know what they say when a woman meets up with foul play, right? It’s always the husband.

The talented Jessica Payne takes the revenge thriller and turns it on its head! Who is Rebecca and what does she want? What secrets was Benji hiding? Who might have wanted Madeline dead? This twisty tale is fast paced and chock full of red herrings and misdirection to keep you guessing. The secret to Rebecca’s identity is a stunner, but Payne doesn’t stop there – she keeps bringing the action with even more twists to keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end!

Perfect for fans of The Drowning Woman by Robyn Harding and If You See Me by Audra McElyea! Many thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Thriller Book Lovers Promotions for providing me an advance copy of this book.

This was my first read by this author and I loved it! So many twists and turns, characters you just couldn’t trust, I just loved it!! The big twist wasn’t a total surprise but this didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the novel!

When a wife goes missing or is found murdered, everyone turns to the husband. When Madeline disappears on a camping trip it seems like maybe her new husband, Benji (Benjamin) is the culprit. I've read one other book by this author so far and I really enjoyed it, and I couldn't wait to dive into this one when I saw it. Another 5 star read for me. While I did predict the big twist, I still enjoyed the story and the characters. It wasn't completely obvious, so there was always a doubt in the back of my mind if I was right or not. Turns out I was, but I really enjoyed reading the story unfold. And of course, there were a few twists that I did not predict. A very enjoyable thriller!

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for a digital copy in exchange for my honest review.

Where do I even begin? This was my first book by Jessica and let me to you it was not a disappointment!!! I immediately went and added her other books.

This was one heck of a ride. It starts out with a bang and ends with you gasping. The dual timeline was very well written. You are instantly sucked into this story and are invested. One minute you love the characters and the next you are cursing at them in your head. I thought for sure I knew who it was but was I wrong. Then another plot twist and I’m left with my head spinning. You need to add this book to your list NOW!!!

Jessica Payne is a master storyteller and she has a unique ability to lead her readers astray in the absolute best of ways. Never Trust the Husband is a fun read about revenge, friendships, relationships, and justice. With dual narrators and dual timelines, I had myself convinced that I had this book all figured out until BAM! Payne pulled the rug out from under me and I was giggling with delight at being totally duped.

Payne took your basic revenge and quest for truth plot and turned it upside down, making it wholly unique and utterly thrilling. I had no idea who I could trust, who the real Rebecca was, or how all the pieces fit together. Was Benji a cheat and liar? Was Gwyn sabotaging Maddy behind her back and stealing her husband? Was Maddy murdered or the victim of a terrible accident?

This was a fun one and totally binge-worthy. The alternating timelines and mystery surrounding Rebecca kept me flipping pages and wanting more.

After absolutely loving The Good Doctor, Payne has quickly made herself an auto-read author for me and I can't wait to see what she comes out with next!

WOWOWOOWOWOWOWOWW.

Did I stay up until 2am in order to finish this? YES
Did I try to even go to sleep? YES
Did this keep me awake? YES

What a thrilling tale of intrigue and mystery that literally left me needing to finish just one more chapter until the end. I could not put this down and trust me, I tried. I just couldn't stop trying to figure out who was responsible for Maddy's demise only to get twisted around like a washing machine. Read this and get as twisted as I did, it's one hundred percent worth it!!

I am always on the edge of my seat with a Jessica Payne novel.

Three years ago famous influencer Madeleine Hughes fell over a cliff on her honeymoon. Now Rebecca wants to find out if Maddie’s Husband is the one who killed her.

This book had me on the edge of my seat. It is a medium paced thriller with so much going on. You never know who are you going to believe.

We get a dual POV with Rebecca and Maddie and their different experiences. It’s always a good book when I don’t expect the twist and I did guess this one.

Hold onto your champagne glasses, folks! Jessica Payne's "Never Trust the Husband" is the rollercoaster of a thriller you never knew you needed. This book isn’t just a story; it’s a wild ride through Suspenseville with a pit stop at Drama Junction!

Set in a swanky glass house in Seattle (because, let's face it, nothing says ‘I’ve got secrets’ like a house everyone can see into), we follow a story that’s more twisted than a pretzel. Our narrator is the kind of sneaky, shadow-lurking character you can’t help but love. She’s watching the new golden couple, Benjamin and Gwyn, and oh boy, the tea she’s spilling is hotter than your morning latte!

Payne’s writing is like that friend who always has the best gossip – you know you shouldn’t listen, but you can't help yourself. She’s got a knack for making you flip the pages faster than pancakes on a Sunday morning. The way she weaves suspense with just a sprinkle of dark humor is chef’s kiss.

What’s really fun about this book is playing detective alongside our protagonist. It’s like Clue, but with more champagne and fabulous Seattle real estate. And let’s talk about the themes – jealousy, betrayal, and the kind of juicy secrets that make you say, “No way!” out loud.

In short, "Never Trust the Husband" is the book equivalent of binge-watching a thriller series. It’s a deliciously scandalous tale that serves suspense and shocks in equal measure. So, grab your coziest blanket, a big bowl of popcorn, and prepare to be entertained. And remember, in the world of Jessica Payne, happily ever after is just another plot twist away!

Thank you @jessicapayne.writer @thrillerbookloverspromotions @bookouture for the #gifted copy of this e-arc!

Buckle up buttercup this was a wild and twisted ride. I promise you, you will not be able to figure out the ending or who is who or who did what. Just when I thought I had it, another bomb was dropped which kept me guessing until the end. 🤯

We follow Rebecca who is trying to get even and find justice for the murder of Madeline. Madeline’s husband Benjamin seems quite suspicious as less than 3 years later he’s already married and settled in with Madeline’s best friend Gwyn. Who marries their best friends husband after her mysterious death? People who are sus. That’s who! So many things happen to make you question these characters, Ben’s business is not financially stable, Gwyn never seemed to be truly happy for Madeline and certainly they have questionable behaviors since the death. In the end you will find out just who really gets the feel good ending and it won’t be who you think!

Loved the unreliable narrator in the one and the ending and backstory was nice to get the full picture. I thought this was such a fun thriller that easily can be read in one sitting because man oh man it was addicting! I found myself reading just one more chapter because I NEEDED to know why all of these characters didn’t trust each other and what they were up to! Sign me up for the next Jessica Payne book! I can’t wait!
