When Peterson and Woodhouse team up, you know you're in for a treat. They not only bring gorgeous settings and loveable characters, but relatable faith walks as well. Such is the case when we read about Ellie and Carter. In truth, I could relate to both of their faith walks at one point in my life or another, one a bit more recent than the other. But it was such a wonderful reminder of how important our faith is. Our reliance on God to work out all the details that we can't (and shouldn't!). I needed to hear (read) that right now.
As important as the Gospel is to this story (and its' reader), I cannot forget to comment on the chemistry between Ellie and Carter. It was perfect. The arguing - I use that term kinda loosely - to the romance and everything in between. I honestly don't know which journey enjoyed better - them together, or each as individuals. They were that good.
All in all, With Each Tomorrow is a welcome addition to the Jewels of Kalispell series. I was delighted to return to such a fantastic place. I'm also anxious for the next book in the series, and will be counting down the days until it's in my hands!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse bring us back to Kalispell, Montana during a time of turmoil for the town. The railroad that caused the area to flourish may be pulling up stakes and moving to a new location. This has railroad employees and townsfolk up in arms. At the same time a conservationist team is exploring the area with the intent of forming Glacier National Park. Eleanor Briggs comes to town with her father for this purpose and immediately meets and acts rudely toward Carter Brunswick, the town flour mill owner.
I received a copy of the book from the publisher through NetGalley. This is my opinion of the book. Carter is a Christian who tries to be a kind and levelheaded man during the conflict in the community.
Eleanor is opinionated and quite sheltered in ways since the death of her mother. She has spent much of her life immersed in her father's pursuits. Ellie struggles with bitterness due to that loss and her rejection of her mother's faith.
Our magnetic matron from the series, Marvella, is in fine form in this story. Her character makes it so delightful to read especially when she has "an out of turn incident." It gave me a great laugh, the description so easy to allow me to visualize the scene. She is also in matchmaker mode.
One small portion of the story bothered me because a character changed drastically, too quickly in my opinion. No spoilers here.
I liked that I could not tell that the two writers had created this story. It moved seamlessly as if in one voice. It was very interesting to experience in the plot just how devastating the move of a railway station and service had been. The plotting out and work that was needed to form a national park was something I'd never really thought about either. This can be a stand-alone book, but I recommend reading book one because it is a good series. I give it a solid 4. I liked it. I want to read more from the series.
This is book 2 in The Jewels of Kalispell series. I have NOT read book 1 yet!! I don’t usually do that, but I had With Each Tomorrow and I just wanted to read it. So I did. I did not feel like I was missing information as I started reading this book, so I would say you could read as a standalone. I was able to just read and enjoy this book without feeling lost or confused.
I did not like Eleanor Briggs and felt bad for all who had to deal with her. Eleanor is struggling with who she is and what she wants out of life. Her father is behaving oddly and seems to be excluding her. But even with those reasons, I felt annoyed at her behavior. Carter enjoys getting a rise out of her and I enjoyed when he did !!
Carter is also dealing with some problems mainly due to the railroad changing the routes and putting his business at risk. As the story progressed Eleanor had some character growth and discovered some things about herself and her father. I don’t want to spoil the ending of the mystery so I won’t say any more about it.
I received a copy from the publisher. All opinions and ratings are my own.
The reason I like historical fiction is that I always learn something. This time it was the early foundation of Kalispel, Montana and how the railroad helped the town expand and threatened its future when it left. I also learned about the clashes of the conservationists and landowners during the quest to set aside lands for a National Park.
The characters brought the scenes to life, from the not so cute meet of Ellie and Carter to the nefarious plotting of the villains who took matters into their own hands.
The sweet romance moved slowly because Ellie and Carter were struggling personally. Carter was a strong Christian who was attracted to Ellie but was not willing to compromise his beliefs. Ellie wanted to please her father but learned to think for herself and to build on her spiritual heritage to make her faith personal.
I appreciate the clear gospel message that these authors include in their books. The historical information and suspense elements made it that much more enjoyable.

As I have lived east of the Mississippi my entire life, there’s a lot I don’t know about Montana history. So I’ve really enjoyed learning more about it while reading the first two books in The Jewels of Kalispell series, and I look forward to doing so in the third as well. With Each Tomorrow shines a spotlight on the uproar caused when the railroad – thought to be so vital to Kalispell’s economy – decided to relocate to Whitefish instead. With my husband unexpectedly out of work, I really identified with our hero Carter and the other townspeople who faced a great deal of uncertainty over their livelihoods, their homes, their families. There were so many times while reading this last night that I was echoing Carter’s prayers and claiming them as my own. Those reminders to trust God even when you have no idea what to do were exactly what I needed, and when it comes in the form of a story with characters you care about, it’s just that much more meaningful.
Newcomer to Kalispell, Eleanor Briggs is also facing some unexpected upheaval as her relationship with her father – and the work they’ve done together ever since her mother died – begins to change. She’s not on speaking terms with God, though, and watching her spiritual journey on these pages was very touching. Not only did it help me appreciate Ellie’s character growth even more, it also allowed the authors to work in very natural but clear Gospel conversations just as they did in The Heart’s Choice. There’s a bit of stopping the story for a sermon but I honestly didn’t mind because of how invested I was in Ellie and her guarded heart. Ellie is a compelling mix of tough and tender… and she is completely unprepared for the whirlwind that is Marvella Ashbury, the goodnaturedly-meddlesome-and-a-little-intense wife of the town judge. Marvella has four great loves in her life – Jesus, her husband, her dog, and matchmaking – and she keeps the story lively, fun, and full of heart.
Bottom Line: With Each Tomorrow is another example of how well Tracie Peterson & Kimberley Woodhouse write together. Montana serves as a gorgeous supporting character, one that is easy to fall in love with, and I find myself wanting even more to visit those mountains. I liked Carter and Ellie’s respective personalities (though I wanted to shake them both at varying points haha), and I could easily picture Ellie pedaling around town on her bicycle and Carter dodging the melee (however unsuccessfully) the day Ellie arrives in Kalispell. These two may be at different places in their Jesus stories but they both are wrestling with very real questions of faith that are relatable to nearly everyone in some form or fashion, and this is where the novel truly shines. A dash of suspense and the planning stages of the Glacier National Park round out this story even further, ensuring that readers have lots to love about With Each Tomorrow!
(I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book)
This book had me giggling from the beginning. It had me talking out loud to the characters. I gasped. I was basically enthralled the entire time I was reading and highly recommend this light but powerful read to all fans of historical fiction.
With Each Tomorrow, by Tracie Peterson and Kimberly Woodhouse, is the second book in The Jewels of Kalispell series. This is a Christian historical fiction story that tales place in Montana in 1904. This is such a good story to read. It is well written and easy to read with wonderful characters. I enjoyed the father/daughter relationship and how Eleanor and her father look out for each other. I enjoyed the suspense behind the changing of the railway, how it affected the community and how they reacted to the possible change. It is interesting to see how the railroad was so important at that time in history. I appreciate the faith the characters have and how they are there to help and support each other.
I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book, this is my honest review.
I just didn't enjoy this book. Overall I found the writing to be subpar, for example:
"Carter fasted and prayed for three days and knew without a doubt that he was supposed to purchase the mill and run it.
But in the back of his mind, doubts niggled at him. Was he old enough?...."
Without a doubt...except for all of the ones that were then listed. I understand all Christians have doubts sometimes and I enjoy reading about people overcoming them, but if you plan for Carter to have doubts and overcome them through faith, don't write a sentence saying that he has no doubts as it makes the writing inconsistent.
The narrator's language was to me, at times, too modern for an early 1900s setting, and the romance plot itself was not original. The idea of having Glacier National Park be a plot point was one of the things that originally interested me in this book (I've been there and love national parks in general), but that point had a minor role in the story overall.
I loved With Each Tomorrow! Glacier National Park is one of the most beautiful National Parks and a definite favorite. It was so fun to step back in time to 1904 and learn a bit of the history surrounding how this magnificent place became a National Park through this reverse grumpy/sunshine, opposites attract historical romance! I adored the first book in the Jewels of Kalispell series and couldn’t wait to reconnect with the delightfully nosey matchmaker Marvella, Sir Theophilus, the judge, and the other endearing residents of Kalispell.
Eleanor Briggs and her conservationist father have just arrived in Kalispell, Montana to work towards the formation of Glacier National Park. The spunky, spitfire Eleanor is in no mood for the laidback ways of Kalispell and immediately raises the ire of Carter Brunswick at the train station. From that moment on, Carter takes it upon himself to tease the grumpy “Ellie” especially when he finds her opinions so at odds with his own.
Carter’s a successful wheat farmer who suddenly finds his livelihood in jeopardy when the Great Northern Railway threatens to leave Kalispell for Whitefish, Montana. Depending on the railroad to transport his wheat, he and his family rely on their ingenuity and faith to find a solution to their growing problem. But some residents of Kalispell aren’t willing to work to find solutions and begin plotting against those who would ruin their futures. When Ellie & Carter find themselves in the middle of the dispute, they must work together to find common ground and stop those who would inflict harm.
I thoroughly enjoyed Eleanor “Ellie” and Carter! Eleanor is the grump in this romance, but understandably so. She lost her mother at a young age and has never forgiven God for not saving her. She also has very strong opinions on public land use. It was so fun to watch her and Carter match wits. I loved seeing Eleanor’s opinions change as she understood more of the farmers’ and ranchers’ perspectives. Then there’s Marvella who delights in playing matchmaker. She’s an absolute hoot!
The faith elements in this story were so well done. I think one of the most powerful parts is when Ellie reads several accounts of the Savior in the Bible. It was very touching. I also appreciated how the authors depicted faith as a realistic struggle for Ellie. Carter’s the opposite of Ellie in that his faith never wavers. Though presented with potentially disastrous circumstances, he’s willing to turn it all over to God. It was enjoyable seeing how these two with such diametrically opposed views could come together and find mutual understanding & love.
Highly recommend this beautiful, fun, faith-filled, romantic story with a hint of suspense and gorgeous descriptions of Glacier National Park. It really made me want to return for a visit. While it can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading The Heart’s Choice first. Looking forward to the next book in the series! I received an advanced complimentary copy from the authors and publisher. All opinions are my own and voluntarily provided. 4 1/2 to 5 stars!
I couldn't put this book down. I'm usually such a restless reader, but I had no trouble focusing only on this one. From the first line to the last, I was committed.
And oh, Marvella. I want to be her when I grow up!
~I was given a complimentary copy of this book. No positive review was required, and all opinions are my own.~
Eleanor is a 24-year-old who has been accompanying her father as he advocates for conserving public lands. She and her father arrive in Kalispell, Montana to secure property for Glacier National Park.
During the visit, they encounter farmers and train employees who object to the changes ahead. Carter is a young business owner who can see a failed future and others are threatened by the departure of the Great Northern Railroad. Eleanor and Carter are on opposite sides of opinion but form a friendship despite not seeing eye to eye.
This Christian historical fiction book has humor, mystery, and romance. It is also full of the Gospel as characters speak about their faith and pray for God's wisdom and help. I truly enjoyed reading this book where history and God's message are so alive. I went back and read book #1 in this series and enjoyed it as well.
I got a copy of this book from NetGalley to review in advance of publication.
The duo author team, Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse, has given readers another great historical read. With Each Tomorrow find Eleanor Briggs and her father in Kalispell, Montana to see about the formation of Glacier National Park. The research of conservationists and the Great Northern Railway changing location in Montana during 1904 brought history to life. I felt like I was living in that era while reading.
The characters are well developed with their own personalities, strengths, flaws and an array of faith. Ellie and Carter’s story had ups and downs from their first encounter. Ranching was an eye opener for Ellie about land owners but her shattered heart and lack of faith caused more turmoil. I appreciate the Judge and his wife Marvella as they were steadfast and strong in their faith for the community and new arrivals. Who will help Ellie break the wall around her heart and come back to faith her mother taught her?
The story is filled with twists and turns, adventures, a thread of suspense, forgiveness, understanding, hope, faith and romance.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bethany House and an ARC from NetGalley without any obligation to write a positive review. I have shared my own opinion.
With Each Tomorrow by Tracie Peterson and Kimberly Woodhouse ⭐⭐⭐⭐
With Each Tomorrow" is a Christian romance set in 1904 in Montana. This is the second book in the series but can be read as a standalone.
Ellie travels to Montana where she runs into Carter. But they get off on the wrong foot.
She's constantly having mishaps that require Carter to come to her rescue.
Carter helps Ellie find her way back to God. A great freindship is formed.
Its a great sweet historical romance sure to lighten your heart. Again its book 2 in the series you will not feel lost. Hope you pre-order you copy today and settle in for a weekend of reading. You will be happy you did.
I was given a copy of With Each Tomorrow in advance to give an honest review.
With Each Tomorrow is the second book in the The Jewels of Kalispell series written by Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse .
With Each Tomorrow is set in Kalispell Montana in 1904, with two main characters Eleanor Briggs and Carter Brunswick.
This book shows the trials and changes that comes to communities when the Great Northern Railway decides to depart and when conservationists want lands to be set aside for National Parks.
I did not realize the hardship that was put on the communities when these two types of changes would come. A Railway departing a community could be so catastrophic that the town could end up being abandoned. I did not consider that people actually thought that lands that have belonged to families for generations should be broken up and set aside for public use.
I really enjoy reading when a community comes together determined to not lose their community. It is encouraging to read how ones eyes can be opened to see things are not exactly how we thought they were, and hearts and minds can be changed when we open ourselves to God.
It is fun to imagine Kalispell in the late 1890's to the early 1900's. I do not believe I will look at Kalispell the same again.
I highly recommend this uplifting, encouraging, and heart warming book. I also recommend reading the first book in the series The Heart's Choice before you start reading the second book.
Enjoy!
These novels are so fascinating and I learn so many things about history that I had no idea happened. Eleanor and her father head west to Montana, to advocate saving land for national parks and to respect and keep the beauty that has quickly dwindled in the east part of the United States. It seems as though many are against her thoughts on land preservation and want her to see why it needs to be used instead. But why does a single person need to own thousands of acres? Why can it not be a community land and all share in the bounty and beauty? But as the threat of the railroad also looms for the town of Kalispell, Eleanor is starting to understand more about the workings of farming, cropping, land management and the influence of the railroads in these areas. I really enjoyed the characters in this novel as well as the scenery and laid out storyline of all sides of these issues. I am looking forward to the next one in the Kalipsell series! Thank you to the authors for the complementary novel and for being a part of the launch team. This review is of my own opinion and accord.
Readers who like Christian historical fiction will enjoy this book. Set in 1904 in Montana, the story focuses on Ellie and her views of God concerning her mother's death. Ellie comes across naive and opinionated. Her lack understanding of farming for food sources was frustrating. With all the traveling she had apparently done, her eyes still need to be opened to reality. I felt for Carter as his father's land was threaten. I would have like more about the Glacier National Park. This is the second of the Jewels of Kalispell series but can be a standalone.
With Each Tomorrow is the second book in the Jewels of Kalispell series. I truly enjoyed the first book of the series and I generally love books by these authors, but this one was a miss for me. Tracie Peterson has been writing since the dawn of time, almost, and I have loved everything I've read by Kimberley Woodhouse.
For the most part, I couldn't get past Eleanor's behavior and entitlement. She bullied her way around situations that would have been better handled with a touch of kindness instead. She held onto her attitude throughout most of the book. That the authors would write in a character who was drawn to her baffles me. Carter Brunswick seems to gather great pleasure in poking the bear known as Eleanor, to the point that he tells her he'd never marry her, and she wasn't good enough for him.
This is one of the hardest novels I've read and tried to get through. I couldn't appreciate the plot and most of the characters, but the one saving grace was the setting. I've been through Glacier National Park and it is breath-takingly beautiful. I wish that the setting had played a bigger role in the plot. I've read other books based around national parks that are far more enjoyable. I count this as only one miss in a history of hits. It happens. But this is my opinion, someone else may truly enjoy the book and all that it offers.
Three Stars.
Bethany House Publishers provided the copy I read for this review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.
This story is honestly such a work of art. I really appreciated the Christian messages and themes, as I took them to heart personally. 🙌🏼💜 I also really appreciated the beauty of the surroundings and setting! The testimonies we see through each character - Eleanor learning to follow God again, Marvella fulfilling her Godly calling, and Carter following God’s plan - was just beautiful. This truly is a well-written, riveting story!
1904 Montana
It's easy to think of US National Parks always being around, but that's not the case. They are such gems today and hearing about the turmoil that was generated with the creation of Glacier National Park is fascinating. Should a National Park have lodging and other amenities? This was just one of the questions facing planners. Alongside this was the movement of a rail line which meant the loss of many jobs in Kalispell.
After losing her mom, Eleanor no longer believes in God and finds her value in assisting her conservationist father. Business owner Carter owns a great deal of land to support his flour business. The two are immediately at odds and watching their sparring turn to adoration was a fun journey.
The cover is beautiful!
Tracie Peterson and Kimberly Woodhouse have become a great writing team. This historical fiction offer is well researched and the characters are identifiable and easy to relate to. With Each Tomorrow is the second entry into the Jewels of Kallispell series. Each time I read one of their series, I learn a little more about a period of time. I love the National Parks and this series lets the reader understand the history and challenges that came with setting up National Parks. The sweet romance between Carter and Eleanor was an added bonus to the story. Highly recommended to any historical fiction fans. Fans of this duo writing team will not be disappointed.
I received an ARC ebook from NetGalley and the publisher, Bethany House, in exchange for an honest review.
