I breezed through this book in almost no time. Nice and quick read. Not boring but nothing to keep in the memory bank for re-reading.

I have a bit hard time reading along the story. The first half is slow, but something gets interesting in the second half. There are parts that are spicy that I don’t expect to see that coming (not my cup of tea), but that doesn’t go too far (like not too spicy). The only thing I like is the setting, Hawaii and other place (it’s a secret, don’t want to spoil). Overall, the book was decent and a bit slow. I assume for the trope is enemies to lovers with surprise pregnancy. If you like those tropes and sexy stuff, then this story is for you.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. All of the opinions are my own. Thank you Harlequin Presents and NetGalley!

The first half of the book is fairly slow, showing the lead up to the FMC getting pregnant. I found it rather redundant.

The FMC is your typical Harelquin heroine, the MMC is a bully prone to tantrums.

A very common plot, with slow pacing and characters that could have been fleshed out a bit more.

A quick and easy read, finished in under an hour. I enjoyed the Hawaiian setting.

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this ARC in return for my honest review.

This one didn't gel for me - the couple never felt organic in their development. Nicolas came off as a bully and the utter lack of respect and even of consent in the earlier pages of the book just did not endear me to him at all. Anika gave as much as she got, but I felt sorry for her for being lumped with such a jerk of a man who only thought of himself all the time. I can get behind an Alpha male, but this one just, no... He didn't even show an ounce of care for Anika as a person to begin with. Nothing felt organic or even natural in the development of this romance between the protagonists.

Anika is great, Nicholas is awful.

Anika is in Hawaii on Kauai for a conference, when Nicholas Lassard shows up. He's been trying to buy her aging inn on a lake in Bled for the past eighteen months. The only one doing any bending is Anika in this relationship. Nicholas wants his vision for his next door luxury hotel, it really feels like he's a bully. Yes, he's got some twenty year old trauma, but get over it and move on. Yet, he wants everything his way and only his way for too long in this book. ANika makes everything easy for him, too easy.

What I did like was the setting in Hawaii and on the lake in Bled.

Emmy Grayson brings us the second book in the Hot Winter Escapes book series. We meet Anika at a conference in Hawaii only to have her peace and quiet interrupted by Nicholas Lassard. He is everything she does not want, yet there is a definite attraction between them. Close proximity leads to passion and she finds out that there are consequences to their time together. Meanwhile, Nicholas is trying to buy her family hotel to add to his luxury line of hotels with no success. Will the result of their passion be enough to keep them together, or will business ultimately get in their way? Will they let the past dictate their future, or can they overcome their obstacles to find a path to a new future together?

Emmy Grayson brings us a story of enemies in the world of the hotel business and what can happen when that attraction ignites. We get to follow along with Anika and Nicholas as they battle with each other both professionally and personally as they each have to get past all the things that hold them back from each other. If they can find a way to confront their past and feelings, will it be too late or can they salvage what they started? I look forward to reading more from this series.

I received and read an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I would like to thank NetGalley and Harlequin Presents for this privilege.

The Inn that Anika has inherited has been in her family for three generations and she isn’t about to sell it to Nicholas even if his offers keep increasing financially. When she finds herself attending a conference in Hawaii that he is speaking at the sparks fly but a misunderstanding keeps them apart until she realizes she is pregnant.

Nicholas is a man with a tragic past who is focused on his family’s hotel business and the location of Anika’s Inn is perfect in every way. The opportunity to spend time with her in Hawaii only increases how intriguing he finds her but finding out she is expecting his baby will not only rock his present but force him to face his past as well.

This is a heartwarming and romantic story about love, family and healing from the past as even though they had some obstacles to overcome they realized that what they shared was worth fighting for.

Easy sweet enemies to lovers . Enjoyed the background locations, and the banter. Is a easy read , a bit predictable but enjoyable.

I love a good surprise pregnancy. That is my favourite trope and will always be my favourite. Despite this book being right up my alley - I didn't love it mainly because the first half was the lead-up to getting pregnant, but I feel like the book should have started there, and so on. At the beginning of the book, when Anika gets pregnant, the development of love there, along with some flashbacks, leaves things more exciting.

The classic situation exists in this book - a broken man who swore off kids and a woman who is fragile due to some trauma and who gets pregnant - the man changes his mind about kids and comforts his past and women and mad get-together.

I wish there were more surprises, considering that Anika spoke her mind and wasn't falling all over Nicholas; I was expecting more banter and fun moments.

Anyway, a class harlequin book, I wish there was a little more different structuring.

An Heir Made in Hawaii is the 2nd book in the multi-author Hot Winter Escapes, a complete stand-alone set partly in beautiful Hawaii and an equally beautiful but definitely colder location in Slovenia. It's a heartwarming enemies-to-lovers romance with some very heartbreaking moments, witty banter, an attraction that won't be denied and a wonderfully sweet HEA.

Quick Summary: A love takeover romance

My Review: An Heir Made in Hawaii by Emmy Grayson is a Harlequin Presents romance novel. It is book two in the Hot Winter Escapes series.

About the Book: Anika Pierce and Nicholas Lassard are business rivals. He wants to purchase her family's hotel, but she refuses him at every turn. While attending a business conference, the two friendly enemies temporarily set aside their differences and share a very passionate moment. Not only are they left with memories, they are also left with a surprise pregnancy.

Question to Consider: Is it possible for love to takeover a heart that has been broken from past events and a heart that is desperate to hold on to a past gone by?

My Final Say: This was a beautiful story of love. It spoke of family, legacy, healing, and true happiness. I appreciated how it told how this couple chose to face forgiveness and reconciliation. I also loved how it defined home from one season of life to the next.

Other: Readers who are looking for a romance with substance, spice, and character growth will find it in this book.
