Throne of Air and Darkness pick up right where the first book left us. Not only have Veyka and Arran been crowned Queen and King, but a mating bond has been revealed between them. While Veyka struggles with whether or not to accept the bond, the Knights of the Round Table are pitched headfirst into a new and deepening mystery.

I love how this book expanded the world outside of the fae realms. I really enjoyed the look at the human worlds and ate up the intrigue and tension. Best of all, I didn't come across any of the lagging feeling that plagued parts of the first book. This installment was perfectly paced. And the complex characters are to die for. I'm eagerly awaiting book three!

I totally dug the first part of this series, but the second part left me with mixed feelings.

Let's chat about the world-building. Just like before, the author crafted this rad and mesmerizing setting with magical creatures and a bunch of new stuff to explore. Big shoutout for that! And of course, the dark vibes were on point, which I totally loved.

But, gotta be real, at some point, the story got kinda stuck in a loop, especially with the main characters' dialogues. And for a good chunk of the book (like 30-50%), it felt like nothing much was happening, except Veyka and Arran being all hot for each other. Honestly, that part got a bit boring. It's not that I didn't enjoy them together, but I was hoping for something new in this book.

Now, onto the characters. I was all in for Arran, but Veyka? Not so much. She spent half the book denying what we all knew, and it just slowed things down. But hey, finally, both of them opened up to each other, and it was fierce and beautiful.

Oh, and big props to the author for throwing in more points of view – that was a cool move. And finally, we get some action! The last chapters were a wild ride of emotions!

In a nutshell, I was hoping for more from this novel, but I'm still super stoked to dive into the last part of the series

Thank to netgally and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Absolutely loved this book. Getting more details about the characters wad exactly what I was hoping for. There is still enough mystery to keep readers hooked for the 3rd which is perfect!

I enjoyed the pace of this book, it wasn't slow but it didn't feel rushed. We just skipped the monotonous traveling and got to read the highlights. Parys being his own pov chapters really helped keep us in the loop for their realm. I do wish we'd gotten some more from Gwen though. I'm positive she's the queen from the Ethereal Prophecy and am excited to see her come into her own once they realize it.
Absolutely fantastic writing for all the villains, I honestly feel hate toward them.
The ending left me reeling as well! I'm so impatient for the 3rd book!

I had a difficult time getting into this book more then the first one, although I enjoyed the fantasy plot line and the inclusion of a plus sized main character, I struggled getting on with the possessive romance that overwhelmed the plot. I think I've realised that this type of dynamic just isn't for me.

I did enjoy the development of the world building in this book and specifically Pary's and Gwen's' storyline, I wish that would have been explored more because I preferred their dynamin over the MCS.

Continuing on from book 1,book 2 is filled with even more smut and a fully developed and well thought out world once again.
The characters are well developed and the plot is great! The smut not taking away from the actual plot line which would have infuriated me if it did.
Cannot wait for book 3!

The second in the trilogy, and just as good as the first. The Arthurian tale continues to be unravelled. With a lot more heat! Plenty of plotting and twists. Lots to figure out. Just got to keep reading. I need the last book!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this eARC of 'Throne of Air and Darkness' by Emberly Ash.

The second in the trilogy, 'Throne of Air and Darkness' is basically what Sarah J Maas wished ACOTAR was. Smutty filled with a bit of plot. I do think there was more smut in this one than the first one so the smut lovers will adore this. Other than that, the continuation of the story was great but I still find I preferred book one more.

A fantastic sequel to Crown of Earth and Sky. I loved where the storyline went and how the characters developed throughout Throne of Air and Darkness. There was so much that was unpacked and the world-building that continued from Crown of Earth and Sky was a chef's kiss.

Really enjoyed this one! I’ve been going back and forth between 3.5-4 stars, so settling on a 3.75.

It was an easy read in terms of world development, and Veyka is a badass warrior woman who I was rooting for the whole way through! I’m normally not a fan of the fated mates trope, but I actually enjoyed it in this and it worked well within the story and loved the romance/spice.

I’m curious to how many books this series is slated for. I think a trilogy would be perfect to tie everything up, I don’t know that I’d be invested enough to read past that, but I will definitely pick up the third once released!

5/5 Stars
3/5 Spice

Well Emberly, you did it again!

This is one of those moments when Book 1 was good, but Book 2 was GREAT!
Book 1 ended on a cliffhanger and book 2 took off right where we left.
It was a fast, bingeable book - once you start, you won't stop as there is a lot of adventure, and chaos, and stress, but you need to know.

Spice? Yes, absolutely. More than book 1.
Answers? Yes.
Adventure? Intensely so.

I recommend this series for anyone who loves fantasy romance with spice & plot.
It has it all.

I am not okay right now. Since chapter 81 I have gasped screamed cried and been absolutely pissed… AND IT WAS AMAZING! I don’t know how I’m going to wait till April for book 3 but my gosh this was even better than book 1. Damn cliffhangers.

As the sequel to one of my favorite reads of 2023, I had V E R Y high hopes for this one & Emberly did NOT disappoint. The storyline, character development and twists and turns kept me itching to read more. In my opinion, all of the obstacles within the story that Veyka & Arran face were cohesive & made for an exciting plot line. Readers literally never know what to expect turning each page.

I love the banter between our MC’s & ALSO the enticing maybe-feelings that Parys & Guinevere had during their segments of the book. My SIL - @gigglinggarb & I read this & finished around the same time & loved talking about our theories and connections.

The ending had me reeling & messaging Emberly about it. I reported that I have been thinking about the ending & what happened probably every day since I finished & she responded with ‘That means I did my job’. That you did, that you did.

A couple things I had a harder time with was the frequency in talking about Arran & Veyka’s attraction. In some parts it was slightly too frequent.

That being said, I will continue to hype these two books to everyone who asks (or doesn’t 😂) because they deserve it!

I look forward to reading book 3 in the series & hopefully adding these beauties to my bookshelves as trophies because the covers are 🤤.

✨ PRINCEMAN REVIEW ✨

📝 'Throne of Air and Darkness' picks up right where Book 1 left off. One minute Veyka was at her joining to the most powerful terrestrial male in history. The next, she's being ripped through the void, seeing places she's never been. In order to get back, she must rely on the one person she never wanted to....Arran. Having this much power might be a relief, but in reality, it comes with a great cost. Her power might be the only thing able to save Annwyn from the darkness that is threatening to come. She must learn more about the legends created generations ago, and to do that, Veyka must head to the dangerous human realm to find Avalon.

What I 🤍:
2️⃣ Series Continuation
💕 Fated Mates
⚔️ Quest to Save the Realm
🦁 Alpha, Shifter Fae Male
💧 Romantic Grotto Scene
🌀 Mystery to Unpack
👟 Fast Chapters

🤯 Wow! This is a book I WILL NOT be able to stop thinking about. While I really enjoyed Book 1, I LOVED Book 2. Book 1 laid the foundation for the lands, people and romance between Veyka and Arran. 'Throne of Air and Darkness' was more focused on the journeys taking place: becoming a queen worthy of taking care of her people, Arran and Veyka's relationship as fated mates AND the journey to Avalon, in the human realm where the priestess made the fae prophecy.

Prince's Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Passion: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 (Several Open Door)
Read If ➡️: You love fantasy romance, strong-heroines
Read 📅: Anytime of Year
CW ⚠️: Sexual Assault, Child Abuse, Plot to Murder, Death

I loved the pacing of this book! It starts off in sprint trying to figure out what is happening to Veyka. Then, in the middle, it slows down a bit to uncover the mystery of the fae prophecies. Parys HAS MY HEART! 💕 As a reader, you are also trying to figure out what is happening at the same time the characters are. When the camaraderie reaches Avalon, you are at the edge of your seat, waiting to see what happens. I cannot wait for Book 3, but heartbroken I have to wait 4 months for it!

Also, the blue grotto scene will forever live rent free in my mind. 🥵 IYKYK!

Oh book two of these series, and I devoured every bit of it! Emberly did it again and made me feel everything with our main characters and their story as it picks up and progresses in book two!

Unpacking these characters in this book, you really get to delve deeper into them and understand who they are as characters and their stories. It impacts them now, but at the same time you see them grow and develop into characters who grew stronger through their trauma.

I loved this book so much and I could not put it down. It was honestly so much fun to read and be back in this world once more!

Thank you NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

After the first book in the series, the main criticism I had was about Veyka and how much I liked and connected with her. I definitely didn’t have the same issue with this book, I really enjoyed reading about her. I love a fantasy FMC who’s strong, sarcastic, runs rings around the guys and is powerful even with all her flaws.

Veyka and Arran were able to connect more and in the acknowledgment the author wrote about the book “Its about trusting another person with the ugliest, most broken parts of yourself and realising that even though it’s so fucking hard, it can be worth it with the right person.” I loved seeing them trust each other, share their pain and still love each other anyway.

It did leave me hanging off a bit of a bloody cliff, so now I’m just waiting for the next instalment.

This review contains some spoilers

I'm sorry, I did my best. I really tried to read it with an open mind after a disappointing read of the 1st book but I couldn't get pass 35%. I just skimmed through it after and completely lost interest. I also think I read the worst sex scene I've ever encountered in a book. I was physically cringing.
If I read one more time the word "mate" I'll put myself on fire, I swear.
After the ending of book 1, I had hope for Veyka but no, she's still the same brat. I just don't get it, is there no character development?
And Arran is now not only an annoying male/beast, he's now SO in love for some reason and can only say "mine".
I give 2 stars for the fact that the secondary characters are still around, that's solely it.
I'm happy for people who loved the book, but this serie is not for me at all.

ARC provided by Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op in exchange for an honest review, thank you!

I really like Emberly's writing style. It's easy reading while allowing you to delve deep into the story as it unfolds. I like the fact that this is a little off centre...dark and not quite romance! That style keeps my attention and I always love a strong female lead!
Overall, some may not love all the darkness (lots of hating going on) but it's a great read and I'm excited for the next book in the series!

On par with the first book I think, only easier to read since I was used to the writing at this point.

I'm loving that we're seeing more characters from the King Arthur legend! It's less of a retelling and more of a reimagining in my opinion but still fun to read either way. This book we get to spend some time in the human realm and have slowly been learning all kinds of secrets about the fae realm. I'm excited to see where things go from here.

Be prepared, there's another cliffhanger at the end of this book! Your hearts aren't ready!

This is the second book in the Secrets of the Faerie Crown series, and it was even better than the first one. I felt like we didn’t have such as intense world building, but the characters growth through the story compensated that, and I loved to see how they change through the story and the relationships develop between them.

The chemistry between Vekya and Arran was just as good as we saw in book one and I swear I could feel the electricity between them at some point. I felt like the ending was a bit rushed but there were so many twists that I didn’t even saw the villain arrive.

Overall, it was a great way to continue the story where we left on book one and I cannot wait to see what will happen next one since we got a bigger attention to the adventure and the fantasy perspective.

Thank you, NetGalley & the publisher, for approving me to read this arc and write this review.

The second book of the series is usually a bit slower so that was expected but when I got to the end I just wanted to get to book 3! The ending had me pondering for a while after!
