Lina and Jude’s story line was so sweet and cute to read about. They had the solid romance from the moment they met. I loved the book other than it seemed very Young Adult. Anytime there were perfect moments for spice there was none and it totally skipped it. Honestly if it had the spice probably could have been a 5 star read because of the light and breezy romance it was.
I recently read Resisting My Boss by Marion De Re, and it was a fun and engaging contemporary romance novel. The book follows the story of a young woman who meets her boss, Jude Reed, in a bar and ends up ditching him after they dance and kiss.
Unfortunately, her decision to leave him hanging causes tension when she finds out she will be working for him. Jude is a difficult boss to work for with his high expectations and cryptic explanations, but as she spends more time around him, she realizes that there's more to him than his tough exterior.
The story is well-written, and the characters are relatable, with their own quirks and flaws. I particularly enjoyed the witty banter between the two main characters and the development of their relationship. The author does an excellent job of building tension and chemistry between them, making it difficult to resist their attraction to each other.
The book touches on themes of love, forgiveness, and second chances, and the author handles these themes well. Although the book is categorized as a romance novel, there's also an element of self-discovery and personal growth that makes it more than just a typical romance.
Overall, I highly recommend Resisting My Boss to anyone who enjoys a good office romance with well-developed characters and an engaging storyline.
What a fun read!! I loved reading this book. It holds your attention from the first page until the last. It's a fun clean romance that you don't want to miss!

Book: Resisting My Boss
Author: Marion De Ré
Publication Date: January 12, 2024
My Star Rating: 4/5 ⭐
My Spice Rating: 1/5 🌶️
Favorite Character: Jude
Resisting My Boss is the second book in the For The Love of Rom-coms series written by Marion De Ré. This book is a funny, grump/sunshine rom-com workplace romance that will have you smiling from ear to ear.
The MFC, Lina, is an American who has recently moved to London for her dream job in the fashion industry. One night after work, Lina decides to join her co-worker at a nearby bar where she meets an attractive man. She enjoys his company but decides she’s not ready to let her guard down. Although she says she will leave with him, she stands him up and leaves the bar alone. The next morning, she finds out there is a new boss, who is none other than Jude Reed, the guy she met at the bar. The chemistry between the two is undeniable, which creates a tense work environment for them both. As Lina and Jude spend more time together, the feelings between them grow, however, circumstances prevent them from being together. The story follows Lina and Jude as they navigate their clear attraction for each other and the possible consequences of exploring what could be.
This is a fast-paced, light-hearted, happily-ever-after read. This was my first time reading a closed-door rom-com with fade-to-black scenes. This book is well-written and includes lots of witty banter. The lack of detailed spicy scenes did not leave me feeling as if something was missing. The characters, the main and supporting, are relatable. I loved the inclusion of dual POVs. Lina is happy-go-lucky and kind, while Jude is the grumpy workaholic who is also a protective, caring guy who has a sense of humor. I couldn’t help but fall in love with Jude! This was an enjoyable read with unpredictable twists and turns, and I look forward to reading more written by Marion De Ré.
If you’re in the mood for a fun rom-com with characters that give readers a little more than what meets the eye, be sure to check this out.

Thank you to NetGalley, Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op, and Marion De Ré for providing me with an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Marion deserves every single praise for this. Freaking PERFECTION. 10/10. This was just so so good. I couldn’t get enough of it and wanted a thousand more pages of this.
When Lina moves to London for her dream job, she never anticipated the guy she ghosted at the bar would be her new boss. While their chemistry is off the charts, they cannot do anything about it since they work together…or can they? I really enjoyed this angsty relationship and the way the author shared both points of view. I can’t wait for Marion’s next book!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and look forward to more from this author.
Lina moves to London for her dream job, and is in her element. But she falls foul on the apartment front with an unscrupulous landlord, and then her mentor boss is replaced by the man she ditched outside a bar. Ever the optimist she takes life as it comes.
Jude has a grumpy personna, as he is being taunted by his father who is looking for him to fail in running the company magazine, allowing him to grab Jude inheritance.. Jude and Lina end up working closer together to save the company whilst fighting their mutual attraction to each other. When Lina becomes ill due to her living conditions Jude steps in and moves her into his place, keeping their growing relationship under wraps, to prevent his dad hearing about them, and both losing their jobs.
I loved the banter between these two and how they both put each other first when trying to find a workable solution to keep their relationship with each other. Well written with fun throughout, I would recommend this book.
This was a fun cute book. Jude and Lina were interesting characters with an interesting storyline. There as no spice in this book at all and I would have liked at least a little. It was alluded to, but never played out. All-in-all a good book!
I love the tropes that were in this book! I especially loved how it was normally paced and not rushed. this book was very much an easy read and I would defintely reccommend this book to anyone that is starting to get into reading!
Mario De Ré has a gift for writing fun romance books, and this one is right up there. Resisting My Boss is a cute and easy read that will put you in a good mood.
Thank you NetGalley for Resisting My Boss by Marion De Ré. #ResistingMyBoss #NetGalley
Resisting the Boss is exactly what it is on the title.
Lina and Jude try their hardest to stay away but fate intervenes. They both love their job but they both like each other too. Which one wins!!
I enjoyed reading this book. The grey layout for me was annoying at first but got use to it. However the storyline took over and I soon forgot about it.
Thanks to NetGalley for the arc. Would definitely read this authors work again.
Resisting my boss - Marion de Ré
3/ 5 ⭐️
Netgalley approved my request to read this book by Marion de Ré, a French author 🇫🇷who writes cute rom-coms in English. She has a new book coming out that’s called “Resisting my boss”. 🧑🏻💻💗
The book talks about Lina, who is an American girl in Londen working at the fashion company of her dreams. Suddenly she get’s a new boss and it turns out to be the guy she almost hooked up with, but ditched at a bar. Are they both going to ignore each other or can’t they both stop thinking about each other all the time? Is Jude as grumpy and arrogant as he looks?
I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars. It is such a cute book if you are into cute romance stories. It was such a fast read, and I love that about a book.💞 I liked the “forbidden-romance” trope in this story. It always brings so much chemistry and tension between characters, and you know, that’s something I’m up for. I must admit that some events in the book happend a bit random and unexpected. The story felt a bit rushed. There were many time jumps and I would have loved to get a deeper look into some events. Sometimes I think that we got robbed of a beautiful storyline. Overall, this book was a pleasure to read and I would recommend this story if you want to read something light and just fun that will turn you in a positive mood! ✨💌
Special thanks to Netgalley for approving my ARC request and of course to Marion de Ré for giving us this opportunity!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The chemistry between Jude and Lina was steamy. I loved how Lina was independent and pursuing her dream. The story develops well and engages the reader into the world of a fashion magazine which was fun. Along with her connection with Jude which was even more fun to read!
Lina's background was surprising but really had me engrossed in her story and explained a lot about her character. What a really good, easy to read book.

Thanks to #netgalley and #mariondere for the #resistingmyboss book!
Resisting my Boss is about a girl, Lina, from Vermont who moves to London for her dream job. She meets a guy, Jude, in a bar one night out who eventually turns out not to be such a stranger after all!
I was lucky enough to snag an ARC of this book and I loved loved loved it!! I’m such a hopeless romantic and this book is probably one of my new favorite romance books. The amount of times I was smiling at my kindle or wanting to kick my feet in the air from the moments between the Lina & Jude were endless!! To me the books was giving off a lot of vibes from two of my fav shows - The Bold Type & Emily in Paris.
* Fashion industry
* Boss // assistant

* Dual POV

I definitely recommend this book! It is in a series but can be read as a stand-alone!
Set in London, get ready to follow Lina and Jude in their story of love, trust and wholesomeness. Lina works for a fashion company who’s boss is replaced with the person that turns out to be the guy she met in a bar the night before 😉 The author did an amazing job with these characters Lina is brilliant, never letting anything stop her from reaching her dreams ✨ Jude is just the softest 🥹 between the baking and the taking care of Lina whilst she’s sick, you’ll be jealous you’re not Lina.
It’s refreshing to find a book where every chapter is meaningful with no fillers. Fast-paced, rom-com at its finest! It is a closed door, fade to black romance and Marion writes it’s so well. The only reason why it got 3 stars for me was that it just felt like they were tiptoeing around getting together, I think I just wanted more to them as a couple really 😅
Would definitely recommend ⭐️
This was a fun, quick read! I loved how it had brief references to the characters from the first book, but really let Lina shine through on her own. I did have to suspend my belief that these characters could be real people because a lot of the interactions between the two main characters had me genuinely bewildered. I have never read a book from the perspective of characters who have such little self-preservation. Especially Lina's negative reaction when she finds out Jude is her boss, and how she immediately turns to essentially verbally assaulting him, no thoughts/head empty about the fact if it had been anyone else that would have costed her her job.
But it was a fun rom-com, kept me mildly entertained the entire way through, and the close-door aspects of the book were handled very tastefully! I could see myself rereading it again in the future.
✨ She's unique, like a rainbow.
Made of sparkling colors, so bright and vibrant.✨
There were two things that convinced me to read this book: London and the setting in the fashion world... and I must admit that this combination led this read to exceed my expectations!
🛍️ Lina has just moved from America to follow her dream: to work at one of London's leading Fashion magazines. Lina loves colors and knows what she wants out of life and although she is still haunted by a difficult pastshe certainly does not give up smiling, living her life to the fullest and fighting to get what she wants.
If lina lives a life in color Jude lives a black and white one since he devotes all his energies to work and little else thus turning he out to be serious and very demanding . Page after page, however, he turns out to be much more than he seems and well, I couldn't help but fall in love with him!
🛍️ Jude and Lina are the opposites of each other and because of that they complete each other. They have fantastic chemistry and it has been great to watch their friendship page after page grow in to something they are both trying to fight .
✨I loved getting a glimpse of what the exhausting and sparkling world of fashion is all about , and believe me when I say I came to feel the exhaustion and derivative satisfaction of the characters! In any case, it is a light, fast-paced read that I devoured in a day and absolutely recommend!
MARION DID NOT MISS WITH THIS BOOK. Resisting my boss is a terrific book with great character, commentary, writing, and sexy accents.. Some highlights of this book include, a sexy office romance, forced proximity, grumpy x sunshine vibes, and absolutely hilarious content.
Overall I'd definitely read this book again and I would recommend this book for fans of other romance books, espeically people who love office place romances. Such a good take on this office/work-place/boss romance trope. I have received this ARC for an honest review, all thoughts/ opinions above are my own.
rating: 2.5/5
First of all, I would love to thank Marion De Ré for sending me an ARC of her novel in return for an honest review of this book. I really appreciate this opportunity and I am glad I can share my take on this novel.
In this novel, Lina (FMC) packs up her life in the U.S. and moves to London in order to work at her dream Fashion company. While settling into her new life, she meets Roxy, her coworker and soon-to-be bestie who invites her to a night out at a club. At this club, Lina becomes charmed by a dashing young gentleman who has a "proper English accent that reminds me of Henry Cavill". Lina feels pretty enamored by this man but this reckless party girl who sleeps around is not who Lina truly is, so she does what any socially awkward person does and ditches her date at the club. Now comes Jude (MMC), a nepo baby (lol) and son of the big boss at Lina's company, who just so happens to be the guy Lina ghosted (shocker). In this novel, Lina and Jude navigate their complicated and awkward relationship questioning if they want to pursue their romance or if their jobs are more important to them.
One thing I do love about this book is that the author is an excellent writer. The language was easy to understand, readers could easily grasp and digest all of the ideas thrown at them. I also do like the touch that Jude fell hard and fast but it was kind of annoying because he wouldn't stop mentioning how he constantly f'd things up every time something happened. I think there are many redeeming qualities: Jude was described to be very charming with cutesy hobbies like baking, but in my opinion, this story is so predictable that it completely outweighs the positives.
So, I think it should be noted that I am particularly picky with romance stories because while I love touching moments, I can't stand clichés and often find them fairly cringe. Immediately, I was turned off by just how overexaggerated the author wrote out Lina's awkwardness to be. Like yes, we understand she doesn't like being mean, we read about this in practically 50% of the books being published nowadays. Jude on the other hand, is introduced as a really funny and charming guy which I liked because it's refreshing, but on the other hand, his background is so blah. Like the hot guy with the English accent has daddy issues and now he has to prove that he's capable of being responsible in order to earn his Grandfather's shares in the company. Essentially, picture a 2015 Wattpad fanfiction written by a 13-year-old who just discovered they could create a make-believe romance between them and Niall from 1D. (I'm so sorry but this is literally what reading this felt like). Furthermore, I didn't really like how fast the story progressed. Like okay, we're introduced to the idea that Jude is Lina's boss, then all of a sudden (literally a page after they meet), Jude is asking Lina to go to Fashion Week with him...? Where is the sexual tension between them after finding out their almost hookup is their new coworker?
The reason why I think it's a 2.5 is that I personally didn't enjoy the 'clichéness' of the story, but I will admit it's a relatively heartwarming story where true love does get put to the test.
