This is start of a new series for Willow Rose. It is an excellent book and I look forward to reading more of this series
Thank you to #NetGalley, #Bookouture and Willow Rose for the opportunity to read an advance copy of Don’t Let Her Go (Detective Billie Ann Wilde, Book 1), to be published 2 February 2024. 4/5 Stars for this suspenseful police procedural. The way the author weaved the past and present into the novel was interesting and required that you stayed focused to retain the story line. The detective was very unique, especially regarding her change in lifestyle after being married and having children. It helped to create more intrigue because of the circumstances surrounding that. Good read. Recommended especially for people who enjoy reading then and now style of novels. #NetGalley #Bookouture #WillowRose #Don’tLetHerGo
Not exactly the best book I've read. It was kind of confusing with the story lines and time lines. But in the end it all tied together nicely. I will await more books from this series.
This book is an excellent start to a new series. Full of suspense and action and very fast paced. I loved every moment of it, even if it broke my heart from time to time. Such an intense storyline and very believable characters. Billie Ann Wilde is a wonderful character and very relatable. I would recommend this book and author to anyone who likes a good story that will make you want to never stop reading.
Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for an advanced copy of this book.
Excellent read and would recommend
Great book! I couldn’t put it down and read every free second. Highly recommend. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I've read every book by this amazing author. Every time a new series comes out, I deem it my favorite, until a new series starts! This series with Detective Billi Anne Wilde is going to be great. It is about a little girl going missing & how Detective Billi Anne Wilde's past plays a part in the case. If you like suspense & mystery, this is the book for you! My favorite thing about Willow Rose's books is how she writes in a then vs now style of writing. The entire time you read, you are drawn in & cannot put it down, because you HAVE to read the next chapter to see the next part. It is so fun to try & figure out who the "now" is vs the "then", as it relates to the plot of the book. It is always captivating. I read a lot of books, and most authors struggle to do a good past vs present flow, often it is hard to follow what is going on. This book is another great example of Willow Rose's amazing talent of story telling. Another favorite for me, is how she always writes about explaining how she came up with the story (along with links to articles or help for people in horrible situations). I think it is wonderful to raise awareness to issues in this world & be a positive influence to her readers. I cannot wait for more in this series!
First off i love this cover! First time from this author.
One thing i didn't like about the book is it felt really chaotic and the dialogue throughout just felt really off. I really wanted to see how this story ended so that is what kept me from a DNF.
The content on some levels was great and the writing could have been improved. I will give the author another try because there is potential in the writing for sure.
Thanks NetGalley for letting me read and review.
TW:: Graphic child abuse, sexual abuse, rape.
The story started off really intriguing, but I found myself losing interest about half way through. I think the story has a lot of potential, but there are some areas that need to be worked on in my opinion. Some of the plot lines weren’t really tied up and some didn’t really seem to have anything to do with the story even from a B-story perspective. I would have like more fleshing out of the main plots and more insight into the motivations for what happened. The other thing that kept pulling me out of the story was that the language didn’t seem to match Billie Ann’s character. In one chapter, she would be talking normally, and then all of a sudden she was speaking overly proper. It was like two different people wrote for her character. I can also see the child abuse and sexual abuse being hard for certain readers. It was rough for me, and I don’t usually have issues with reading much of anything. With all of that being said, I do think the story has a lot of potential, it just needs more editing.
Huge thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for sending me this ARC for review! All of my reviews are given honestly!
This was a twisty murder mystery that had me turning the pages. I liked Billie Anne and was interested in watching her juggle her personal and professional life. What was particularly fascinating was the reactions from her family when Billie Anne came out because apparently this had similarities to the author’s personal life. I did find the multiple POV’s a little confusing at first mainly because I had to put the book down too many times to deal with Christmas shenanigans. I would have done better reading it through in a sitting. I didn’t guess at the villain until about ¾ of the way when I started paying attention to little flags. I am certainly looking forward to reading more of Billie Anne and her cases.
Willow Rose has done it again with her new series about Detective Billie Ann Wilde! She keeps you guessing at every turn. She is a master at weaving multiple stories and characters together, and having them meet at the end in such a brilliant way!
Intrigue and mystery. I could not get into this story. Confusing plot line… characters who were not totally realistic.
Billie Ann is called to the death of a child, which leads her to a cold case she worked on years ago where a young girl went missing and was never found. While I did think there were a few things included that were unnecessary to the overall story, and some plot points that either didn't go anywhere or weren't fully developed enough to be satisfying I did enjoy seeing Billie Ann work the cold case. She trusts her gut when others are telling her to drop it, and won't stop until she figures it all out. I also thought that Kitty's perspective added something extra to the story, and had me flipping the pages to see how it was all going to play out.
This case was full of twists and turns and had some especially dark moments that kept me guessing.
this was awful. the side plots were so unnecessary and quite frankly bad. and i saw the plot twists coming from a mile away.
thank you to netgalley and the publisher for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
Detective Billie Ann Wilde #1
When Billie Ann Wilde receives a desperate phone call that five-year-old Emma Wilson was missing, she rushes to the family home. But inside the picture=perfect house surrounded by Florida's marshlands, she finds no children's clothes or toys, no photos of the innocent child Emma's mother Marissa describes. Billie suspects Marissa Wilson is hiding from someone. It's a race against the clock to find Emma. But Marissa refuses to tell Emma anything about her past, and before long, she also disappears. And then Billie realises who Marissa is. She is the ten-year-old girl Billie failed to find in her first ever case fourteen years ago. The leads went cold as Billie made a fatal mistake.
Although I have several Willow Rose books on my Kindle, this is the first book by her that I've read.
Billie Ann Wilde has been recently promoted to Detective. A child has been reported missing by her mother. But when Billie visits Marissa at home, there were no clothes or toys anywhere to be seen, Then Marissa disappears. The story is told from several points of view. Billie has her own problems, and mistakes she has made have come back to haunt her. There were plenty of twists and red herrings, the characters were well=developed, the pace was fast.
I would like to thank #NetGalley #Bookouture and the author #WillowRolse for my ARC 0f #DolntLetHerGo in exchange for an honest review.
Complex thriller where the bodies start to pile up but the leads are non existent. Twists and turns before a surprising finale.
Willow Rose’s book, Don’t Let Her Go, is a thrilling story that keeps people wondering all the way through. The story is about Detective Billie Ann Wilde, who has to find a five-year-old little girl named Emma quickly. She’s gone missing. As the investigation continues, Billie finds out a surprising link to her history and understands she’s dealing with a scary serial murderer.
Willow does a great job of making the story exciting. The story is very carefully written, with surprises and changes that will surprise and make people want to discover what will happen next. The people in the story are excellent and easy to understand. Billie, a character, has her problems and old mistakes that make the story deeper.
The location of the swamps in Florida makes the story more scary and mysterious. It adds to the overall feeling of fear and risk. The speed of the story is good; it moves quickly and keeps readers interested in what happens.
Overall, Don’t Let Her Go is an exciting and well-written mystery that will be liked by people who enjoy suspense-filled and tricky thrillers. Willow Rose has given another exciting story that will keep readers wanting to read more. I recommend this book to anyone wanting an exciting and scary book.
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book.
Many thanks to NetGalley & Bookouture for the eARC to read and review.
I went into this one fully expecting to love it, but it didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The whole book felt chaotic or disjointed, and I struggled with the clunky dialogue throughout. I think the thing that kept me reading was Kitty’s POV and the need to see how her story ended.
I did guess the main plot fairly early on (not a deal breaker for me), but that may be due to my familiarity with the true story this was based on (according to the author’s note at the end).
While there’s definitely some disturbing content in this one, I will say, the author did a good job of implying vs fully depicting those scenes that are sure to make your tummy hurt. I also appreciated the 🏳️🌈 representation and the author’s personal story that inspired it.
This book didn't connect with me for a number of reasons, including that some plotlines felt unfinished. However, I'm sure I'm an outlier, and this book will find an audience.
This was an great read. It was good introduction to a new character. The illusion of "small town" living was captured where pretty much everybody knows everyone else. The pace of the book was great, with no lulls in action or unnecessary filler, and the main character was in the process of a difficult life transition.
I would have like more development of the supporting characters, and at times felt like the the "bad guy" was written in much too sympathetic terms. There was no real insight into motivation, and at the end it would have been nice to know what happened in the aftermath. Tying the current events into the past, was also well done, although a lot of it was unbelievable and unexplained. Without giving anything away, you are left wondering how certain things could have happened without anyone questioning it?
I am hoping that the next installment makes things more clear, and add to the story by developing the other characters in Billie Ann's orbit.
I was luckily provided an advance copy by Net Galley and the publisher in turn for my unbiased review.
While coping with a major change in her life, Billie Ann is also managing being a leader at work, children and her husband when she is thrust into a missing child case.
As the search mounts, Billie realizes all is not as it seems, and races to connect the dots before it is too late.
