4/5 stars: I have read all of the books in the Annalisa Vega series and while the first book will always be my favorite, this one did not disappoint! I loved the dynamic of her step daughter and with two storylines going on, there were plenty of twists and turns that kept you guessing until the end.

I went back and forth between the ebook and audiobook and thought the narrator did an amazing job! Thanks to Minotaur Books, NetGalley and author Joanna Schaffhausen for this digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Annalisa Vega, now remarried to Nick, has left the police and formed her own private investigation business. She has multiple investigations she’s working on in this book, the most challenging being asked to ascertain whether a particular person is a sociopath and if so, if he is a good one or a bad one. This person is suspected of having murdered a woman and Annalisa’s client has written a book about him saying he’s basically the good kind — and is in fact a super talented brain surgeon. So is he, or isn’t he. In addition, there are other cases she’s also got going including one that involves Nick’s daughter.

For some reason I didn’t like this book and its main plot as much as I have the other three. I thought Annalisa had some serious tunnel vision and also extraordinary access to help with her investigation that I doubt most PIs would have. She was so single minded in her pursuit and it just felt wrong to me how she seemed so self righteous. I didn’t like her character as much. I think it was a mistake for her to leave the police but I can see this is moving in a different direction. The twists and revelations seemed a bit too much after all. I will likely still check out the next installment in the series, but not quite as invested anymore.

I was able to listen to the audiobook while also following along in the ebook provided by the publisher. The narrator did a good job voicing the characters and added an appropriate dramatic flair when necessary. I find that a good production really enhances my enjoyment of a book and that was true in this case.

A big thank you to NetGalley for giving me early access to this book. I love me a good thriller, and this one was interesting and kept me on my toes. I have not seen a lot about this book, but I am glad that I read it.

I thought this was a good book and had an interesting premise. It was a thriller for sure and something I would recommend to anyone who likes thriller or mysteries.

This is the fourth book in the series about Detective Vega, and you don't need to read all to follow what's going on. A great story about sociopaths, and whether or not they can be considered good. Highly recommend the entire series!

I have loved her past books from this series and just couldn't wait to dive into this one.
Just as good as the rest, if not better!

This book pulled me in and kept going!! The story is enticing and there are some nice twists in the story. I will be looking for other books in this series!

The cat-and-mouse dynamic between Annalisa and Canning is electrifying, as Annalisa becomes more obsessed with proving his guilt. Her personal stakes grow as she realizes just how dangerous it can be to engage with someone who plays by a different set of moral rules. The stakes escalate in a way that keeps the reader hooked until the final pages.

All the Way Gone is a tightly written, darkly fascinating thriller that explores morality, obsession, and the cost of seeking justice. Schaffhausen’s portrayal of Canning is chillingly compelling, and the intense, layered mystery will keep readers guessing until the shocking conclusion. Fans of the series and lovers of psychological crime thrillers will find this one impossible to put down.

All the Way Gone is a tense, well-paced thriller that pulls you into a twisted mystery. Schaffhausen’s writing keeps you hooked as the secrets unfold layer by layer.

I really enjoyed this one! I thought the concept was intriguing and had a lot of potential! I enjoyed the characters and how the story wrapped up! I did have trouble becoming invested in the story and there were some parts that just didn’t hit the mark for me. Overall an enjoyable mystery that I definitely recommend trying out!

Everything Joanna Schaffhausen writes is gold. I'm in love with this series and will read every book that comes out in the Annalisa Vega world. While book 2 fell a little flat for me, this one reeled me in from the beginning. I love our flawed main character and watching her relationships. And the sociopath plot never fails to get me hyped for a book!

When I signed up for this I didn’t realize it was a fourth installment. So I was a little lost but it didn’t stop me from going along for a wild ride. It was refreshing finally reading a story/book that kept me guessing and making my jaw drop by the end. Now, I need to go back and read the first three because I’ve been missing out

Annalise Vega is at it again, except she is a private investigator now. As a PI, Annalise can take on cases that should couldn't as a detective, but she seems to take that too far and turns to involving herself in current police investigations. This got annoying, as it felt like she would rather be a detective than a PI. Even with all this, I am looking forward to book 5.

The fourth installment of the Detective Vega series, however, Annalisa Vega is now a private investigator!

While it is a series, this easily could be a standalone. When details of the previous installments are mentioned, there’s enough supporting dialogue that allows you to make inferences and connections without being at a loss.

First case as a PI is figuring out of her client’s subject is in fact a “good sociopath” and inquire if he was involved with a recent fatal accident. There are twists, white rabbits, yet satisfying predictions!

Overall good pace; ending leaves some strings!! Looking forward to #5

Another Annalisa Vega book? Yes please! I was so excited to find out that her story didn't end with the last book. Unfortunately, this one fell a bit flat for me. I enjoyed it, but I think I liked when she was a detective more than her current PI profession. I got a little annoyed at her meddling without being an official part of the investigation, and the twists were a bit predictable.

I'll still read the next one though!

Another great entry in the Annalisa Vega series. I'm such a fan of her as a character and this book was wonderfully twisty, but still played very fair. I picked up on a few clues but couldn't connect the dots to solve the mystery, and to me that's the most fun. I know the answers are there but needed Annalisa's expertise!

Series are great because you really get to know the characters so well, but I believe this is a book that could easily be jumped into even without reading the previous books.

I love a book with a complicated, flawed main character. I've now read six books by Schaffhausen and really enjoy her writing, style and storytelling. I'll be picking up the next book in this series when it comes out in 2025.

Detective Vega’s personal struggles add depth to the story, making her a relatable and compelling protagonist. The book tackles themes of trauma, justice, and the impact of the past on the present. All the Way Gone is book 4 in the Detective Annalisa Vega series. I have read Gone for Good (book 1) and Dead and Gone (book 3) in the series, but you don't have to have read the previous books to enjoy this one. But they are good so if you haven't started the series, you may want to plan a binge weekend over the holidays.

It is a quick read. I got sucked into the story and raced through it. Before I knew it, the story was over and I was a little sad because I was enjoying the ride so much.

The plot features a sociopath, which I think is one of my favorite thriller tropes. You just don't know who to believe. We know upfront that one of the characters, a renowned neurosurgeon who has saved hundreds of lives, is a sociopath. He is the focus of a psychology professor's new book - The Good Sociopath. The psychologist fears he may not be as "good" as she has presented in her book and hires Annalisa.

There are a lot of twists and turns and everyone involved becomes a target. I love psychological thrillers and I loved every minute of this book. If you enjoy Lisa Gardner's novels then you definitely want to pick Joanna Schaffhausen's books.

Of what benefit to society do psychopaths or sociopaths serve? Well, Mara Delaney has authored a book titled The Good Sociopath. Mara hires private investigation Annalisa Vega, and from the start, their relationship has a disconnect, because Annalisa believes that Mara’s theories are unfounded.

To begin with, Mara is not there to convince Annalisa of her theories. Instead, she wants Annalisa to investigate a neurosurgeon named Craig Canning. Dr. Canning may be a successful neurosurgeon, but completely lacks empathy for his patients. Now, a young woman that lived in his apartment building is dead, and her body was found by a neighbor named Ruth. Mara suspects Dr. Canning was responsible, and that is the reason for her hiring Annalisa.

There’s a twis! Maybe Dr. Canning wanted the young woman dead, but then, as Annalisa soon finds out, there were others who might have wanted it as well. Honestly, while reading this book, I felt like Annalisa’s reticence and unease were right there on the page. As a big fan of this series, I was right there with Annalisa as she faced huge challenges while trying to get justice, all while showing off her amazing skills. I can’t wait for the fifth book in the series, Gone for the Night, which comes out next August!
