At first, I found this a bit hard to follow as it seemed like it assumed some knowledge on the part of the reader. I am not sure if this is because there are other related books I should have read first, but it didn’t matter after only a short while. This is a terrific story spanning two time lines and is as disturbing as you would expect a book about rape, murder and forced adoption to be. The author has created some pretty special characters and this is especially apparent when you read the interplay between the various members of the police force working on the case. I loved seeing these relationships develop and feel the author did so in a very credible way, with no false sentimentality.
What a fantastic ending to a great series! I'm always excited by any Paul J. Teague book and I recommend his books to everyone
3rd and last book of this trilogy - should be read in order ! The saying save the best for last comes to mind for this serie. I was on edge and those twists had my mind going all over the place ! I was sad for some characters, and I hope I'll get to read even more of the detective Hollie Turner !
Thanks to Netgalley and Storm Publishing for access to this arc in exchange for my honest review.
Book 3 in the Detective Hollie Turner series as we saw with book 2, picks up the story exactly where book 2 left off. Hollie and Jenni have just been involved in a hit and run. Jenni is seriously injured and this makes Hollie even more determined to find their killer. Book 3 is just as captivating as books 1 and 2 and shares Sister Brennan's story with us. We also get to the bottom of what has been going on at the mother and baby home. Another fantastic read which concludes this case for Hollie and her team in a very satisfying manner. I can't wait for their next outing. Recommended++
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read an advance copy. All opinions are my own.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.
This is the third in the trilogy and eagerly anticipated.
Hollie Turner continues to investigate the death of sister Sophia. With one of her own in the hospital and strong links to the mother and baby home and in particular to four ladies, can they solve the case.
Wow what a finale! This was fast paced. I could really put myself in Hollie’s place as everything was so busy and the facts were flying in thick and fast. This book really told Sophia’s story. It was good to see she wasn’t always awful, and to live through her, the awful events of her life. I hope there will be a new Hollie Turner book soon.
A 5 star trilogy.
So in this third book in the DI Hollie Turner trilogy we finally find out what really happened on the day that Sister Brennan died.
I’ll admit that I was on the edge of my seat wondering about how it would all play out. I did very much enjoy this trilogy. Fun easy reads and FINALLY it all ends without a cliffhanger!!
What a conclusion!! I’ve enjoyed this ride with Hollie. This was just an edge of your seat trilogy. In this 3rd & last story, we get Sister Brennan’s story. What a sad life she led before she found God. You get why she ended up being the way that she was, right or wrong, but either way her story was incredibly sad. Hollie is on a race to finally put all the puzzle pieces together, & bring this to a conclusion. This was very well thought out & well written. I sincerely hope that there is going to be more books featuring Hollie.
A gripping beginning, of mystery, intrigue, a good page turner to a surprise ending. Hollie sees an accident, the man is asking would she trust him, or turn him in. She chose, was it the right one, she wanted answers for the nun who was killed. I found it to be a good trilogy to read together, for the first ones were cliff hangers....
.Got arc from Net Galley and Storm for my voluntary review
Thank you NetGalley and Storm for my approval to read and review this book.
This is the third in the series and it follows Sister Brennan's back story as told in her voice and how it leads to her murder. DCC Rose Warburton has been taken and DI Hollie Turner and the team swing into action to find out where, who, why, and how! All in all, all the stories and threads are tied up neatly in this book with a surprising conclusion. I look forward to reading more.
The third and final part of the murdered nun trilogy.
DI Helen Turner is hot on the trail of the murderer, but she has a fair few obstacles to overcome before she gets her man. With adopted children, now adults, popping up all over the place, Helen has to decide who is the perpetrator and who are they in cahoots with. Loads of red herrings, false leads and n’er do wells, there is lots of action. After a clearing of the air, Anderson has become Turner’s trusty sidekick, though DS Patel is a force to be reckoned with too. With the majority of her team fully backing her, Helen is confident she will get a result, but at what cost? With members of both her team and the station in general at risk (no spoilers!), will she run out of time?
Well what a turnaround! After my fairly scathing review of The Fallen Girls, I only read Her Last Cry to get closure. When that book yet again ended on a cliffhanger, annoyingly I had no alternative than to read this final instalment. This was the book I’d been waiting for, action packed, dead ends tied and a successful ending. Exciting and fast paced, I read in no time at all and really enjoyed.
However, this doesn’t take away the fact that three separate books on the same case is too annoying, even though they arrived very speedily. As the story was so long it did need all the books, one book wouldn’t have made commercial sense. Not sure what the answer is, but if I’d given up after book one, or not even read any as I don’t like cliffhangers, I would have missed a cracker of a story.
Thank you NetGalley and Storm.

Hollie is doing her best to solve the murder of the nun, Sister Brennan.
Another abduction takes place. DCC Rose Warburton goes missing while walking her dogs, and Hollie finds out that the DCC is very close to this case.
She needs to save her DCC and find the murderer before he kills again.
Ahh, I am so thankful to the Book Gods for being able to read this final book in the trilogy so soon!
I read this in two sittings, I mean, a woman has to sleep sometime!
Hollie has so much empathy, and is dedicated to her job, to the detriment of her family life. Of course she adores her family, and still loves her husband, but her work is very important to her.
This third part brings all the pieces of the case together, and everything starts to make sense. Why the murderer did what he did- and what a sad story he had.
The evil social worker who valued money above the lives of the children he sold, he deserved what he got in my opinion.
The nun. I was shocked at her hateful attitude towards the girls in the home, but seeing what her past life was like, I kind of understand, but her baby was not to blame for what she went through. I am on the fence about how I feel about her. She was a bit late in her repenting.
All in all, a GREAT trilogy. I loved every page! I am looking forward to more investigations headed by Detective Hollie Turner.
Fantastic reads, all of the books, I highly recommend!
Thanks to Netgalley and Storm Publishing for the opportunity to read this book.
Mystery and intrigue…secrets and red herrings…realistic characters…this is a page turner…do not try to discern the ending…surprises…thanks Netgalley.
Although I missed the first book in this series, and was intrigued by the second book, I was blown away by the final instalment. In this book, we get an insight into Sister Brennan in 1969, and to what she was trying to do to ease her conscience in 2022. What a sad story! I basically read this in one sitting because I was so invested in the characters and the story. The ill treatment of single mothers in the 60's and 70's unfortunately seems to be common in many countries. This story does wrap up the loose endings and leaves us hoping for more experiences with Hollie and her team. Thanks to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for a copy to review.
