Thanks to Netgalley and Thomas & Mercer for providing this book to me in exchange for an honest review. I liked the atmospheric setting of the Island setting and the different premise than other "last girl remaining" books. I was guessing to the end what was really going on.

This popcorn thriller hits some spooky notes on the way to its big reveal, but its utterly confounding main character left me frustrated too many times.

Tessa was the final girl, the sole survivor of a home invasion that left her three friends dead while on vacation five years ago. She hasn't been able to move on, so she decides to go back to the vacation house where the massacre happened and face her fears while writing a book about her experiences. Strange things start happening once she is back on the island, and her fears only grow.

What worked for me: the setting is incredible for this story! An isolated island off the coast of Maine, where half the population leaves for the winter and crazy fog rolls in and blankets the town? Yes, please, perfect horror setting. The concept was intriguing as well.

What didn't work for me: Tessa. The book is mostly her train of thought and her fears, and most of her decisions make no sense in relation to those. This is a woman who barely leaves her house, yet she decides to stay in this creepy murder house all by herself for a month? And she feels better sleeping on a couch out in the open than locked behind a bedroom door? I was incredibly frustrated with her for the majority of the book, which left me feeling a disconnect from the story.

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

This one was spine chilling and creepy as Theresa Chamberlain is the sole survivor of the Sunset Cove Massacres. Now she wants to go back and stay in the house where is happened and write a book about it. Once back in the house she can't sleep through the night as she hears strange sounds and keeps thinking someone is in the house with her. The phone rings but no one is on the line. She starts to remember things that happened that night.

Being on an isolated island with no way to get off but a ferry once a week, and the fog which made it hard to see all just added that you weren't sure what was lurking around the corner or who was trying to scare her until the end.

I liked how you were never really sure who to trust or who was telling the truth. I liked how the author built up the suspense and the body count until the end. A great fast paced thriller to keep you guessing until the end.

Thank you Netgalley, ghe authors and publishers for the advanced reading copy of this book.
The Last Girl Left is suspenseful story about Tessa Chamberlain, the only survivor of a terrible mass murder and her life in ghe years following it. How does one cope ? The book seemed familiar for some reason. Characters could have been developed a little more for my liking. This was an OK read to me. 3 out of 5 ⭐️

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

This story was nerve wracking, kept me on the edge of my seat with the tension that never seemed to relent and had me in a bit of a chokehold.

Tessa after everything she experienced would have most people locked away in their house never to be heard from again but she prevails.

Reading this book late at night had me questioning each creak my house made and after getting tired or questioning the shadows in my room I turned my lamp up so bright you could probably see it from space.

Highly recommend for fans of thrillers, true crime,

I'll be thinking about this one for a long time.

Five years after she became the sole survivor of a brutal mass murder, Tessa wants to move on with her life. She decides to face her fears by coming back to the beach house where it all happened. However, there are still things she doesn’t remember from that fatal night—things that could change everything.

I won’t lie; this was a fairly spooky read. After reading a few chapters before bed, I had to turn on a sitcom to play throughout the night, so I wouldn’t hear any eerie creaks. However, I expected a bit more. More flashbacks to that chilling night, gradually intensifying and dropping hints for the somewhat expected twist. I also wished we got more glimpses of that summer in general, exploring her friendships and the carefree moments before everything went down
.
I also wish it hadn’t been so obvious who the bad guy was all along. I don’t mind the subtle hints, but it’s another thing when someone is seen as suspicious and off from the very start.

In conclusion, 'The Last Girl Left' is a good option for those seeking an unsettling mystery to curl up with on a cold evening.

Where to even begin with this one?!
It's been five years since Theresa Chamberlain was the one and only survivor of a beach massacre that claimed the lives of her three friends. Ever since then, she really has not been able to cope with her everyday life.
In order to move forward and heal from this horrible trauma, she decides to book the beach house for an entire month, oh and also write about describing her trauma and how she is healing while there at the house.
When she arrives on Cassadaga Island, a number of odd things start happening in that house. A box from a friendly neighbor goes missing, her word document that has the beginning of her book is wiped cleaned after hours of hard work, and a mysterious scream that causes Theresa, now Tessa, to wake up in the middle of the night. The worst part? No one believes her.
She is utterly and completely alone this time and she realizes that this time, she just might not survive these terrors that she is facing.

I enjoyed this book! Tessa returns to the house where she barely survived an attack that took the lives of her friends. Right away, strange things start happening to her. Who is behind these strange occurrences when the murderer is supposedly dead?

This story felt flat to me. It was predictable and lacked engagement. It had so much potential. Tessa was a strong character, and every other character was incredibly weak in comparison. There were a lot of holes in the plot as well. For example, the two characters have an assault/murder addiction, yet no one notices? The police chief magically saves the day multiple times? Lots of questions left unanswered, as well as stuff happening that made no sense.

A bit darker than the usual offerings from the authors, but still an enjoyable read. No typos this time! This book cements that of all the things scary in this world, the worst monsters can hide right in front of us, hidden from view. No spoilers here, make a cup of hot cocoa and settle in with your favorite blanket and your dog at your side.

Now this was a weird but really good novel. I was hooked as soon as Tessa was back on that island. While it wasn’t a locked room thriller it was close because there was hardly anyone on the island in the off season and she rented the original house where everything took place.
This one will have you guessing until the end who really killed her friends and almost her. Who can she trust and who should she not trust.
Was the person who was killed the actual culprit or was it someone else who was still lurking around.
This one is a roller coaster ride and I loved it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I flew through it and had a hard time putting it down. I did find the twist a little predictable, but I would still recommend this book to others.

Just WOW!!! The authors worked together like a well oiled machine on this one. They gave us an intriguing plot that first appears to be from today’s headlines, but then take the readers on a picturesque journey that pulls the reader into the small town island life and introduces us to so many well developed characters and their mysterious back stories that leave the reader guessing throughout the many plot twists right along with our lead character who is determined to find answers. Extremely well done Anthony & Sonya!

In "The Last Girl Left," the lone survivor of a beach house slaying returns to the site of the attack to face her fears and seek closure. She soon discovers that danger still lurks in the beach house.

This fast-paced thriller had me hooked from start to finish. I couldn't put it down and ended up staying up half the night to see how it all unfolded. The twist caught me completely off guard.

This book is a must-read for anyone who loves a good thriller.

Thank you Netgalley and Thomas & Mercer for sending me an advance copy of this book for review consideration.

After surviving a murder spree that claimed her 3 best friends; Tessa finds herself struggling to overcome the experience 5 years later: She decides the only way to reclaim her life is to go back to the place where it al happened and conquer fears. Upon, returning to the island and staying in the horror house she begins to experience flashbacks as well as becoming acute aware that she might be being watched by an unknown local.
Kept me guessing until the end as it introduced multiple characters who could have ulterior motives

TW: violence, murder, sexual assault

A late night home invasion leaves everyone dead, but one.

This story follows Theresa Tessa who is the lone survivor of a home evasion that left all of her friends dead. She is dealing with some dark demons and decides to face them by going back to the scene of the crime and work through her issues. When she went back to the house, things start to go bump in the night…

I thought at times the plot moved a little slowly and I think we could have used some kind of twist to keep the interest going. Other than that I enjoyed the story and thought it moved quickly. I would recommend this to people who want a quick fast paced thriller. Thank you to Netgalley and Thomas & Mercer for the ARC.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with this title for review purposes. I will always give my honest opinion.

This is my first book by Strong and Sargent. Usually you can kind of tell with it is a collaboration but not with this one. The writing styles blend beautifully!

The entire way throughout the story I could almost feel Tessa's fear...that's how real it came across.`...although I am pretty (positive) I would not have returned to that house for one night let alone one month!! My only real issue was where were Tessa's parents?? I may have forgotten a mention of why they weren't involved and she only had her sister though. I do have to say that the "culprit" was not who I expected but only because I thought it was too obvious to be them?

Entertaining and immersive. A recommended purchase for collections where crime and thrillers are popular.

This was a clever account of a person facing their darkest fears. I’m not sure I would be brave enough to go back to the scene of a crime where I was supposed to be the fourth victim, but Tessa does. And her fear brings so much tension to the book, as it becomes clear that it’s more than just a lingering fear that has her unable to sleep at night.

I enjoyed this story from the beginning. The survivor going back to where it all began angle, and the reason she couldn’t just leave and go home when things got too scary were plausible and set the story up well.

thank you to netgalley and thomas & mercer for sending me an arc !! the last girl left is gonna be released on april 23rd.

theresa chamberlain, but now tessa montgomery, went through the biggest trauma of her life. five years ago three of her friends were murdered in the beach house they were renting and tessa almost didn’t survive.

for some miracle she’s still alive but can’t tell if she’s safe or not. after having a fight with her sister she had the idea of going back to the house and facing her fears, i mean what could go wrong with the killer being dead for five years? tessa just needed to live in the house for a month and write the first draft of her debut book about what happened to her five years ago.

overall it was a good book but there were some parts that felt like nothing was going on, until you reached the end. i was suspicious about the people from the end but didn’t think about it a lot because i was enjoying the book. poor tessa can finally have her peace now that she knows everything that happened in that house !!
