Oh how I adore Liam and Landen! This installment was especially fun. I love reading these to my little one
I read this book to my niece over FaceTime, she loved it! We actually just had to deal with a “monster” in her room, so this book was perfect for her! It kept her engaged and I have always loved the concept of monster spray. We will be reading it again. Also the recipe at the end was awesome!
This book was super cute when it comes to showing a family dispelling boogeymonsters together. My child wanted to reread it immediately and make sure his daddy saw as well. The only thing that caught my attention was it talks about killing them instead of maybe banishing them ( we know they aren’t real but my four year old is still learning differentiating between real and not so killing isn’t the best word. I also think calling them skinny and fat could be a better word choice but that’s me being nitpicky.
This picture book was about showing children that you can get rid of your nighttime fears by using your imagination and having some fun.
While the idea was good, I think I'm more of a realist when it comes to dealing with problems and addressing them for what they are. It's good to use imagination in some instances but when it comes to fears and mental health, showing a child that there is nothing to fear by explaining there is nothing there should create a calmer effect than working your mind to come up with different solutions. Maybe that's just the way I rationalise things as a parent.
This could be a fun read for a few laughs but I wouldn't use this approach with my children.
Boogey-B-Gone by Lee Alfred II is his second book about Liam and Landen. The boys were scared of the bogeyman and called out for their mom and dad. Dad gave them a bottle of Boogey-B-Gone and they sprayed all over to get rid of all the boogeys. At the end of the book is a recipe for the spray. The story rhymes and is fun to read, slightly reminiscent of a Dr. Seuss type rhyme, though without any made-up words. The illustrations are eye-catching and charming, What a great tool in a parents’ arsenal against a child’s fears of the monsters under the bed and in the closet! I would definitely have read this one to my children. I am voluntarily submitting this honest review after reading an advanced complementary copy of this book thanks to Netgalley and the Independent Book Publisher’s Association.
Boogey-B-Gone is such a funny and adorable book and I know my nieces and nephews would absolutely love it!
What a cute book!! I really enjoyed it and am definitely making the Boogey Be Gone spray for my grandkids!
This is a funny story about little boys and how to get rid of monsters. The graphics are adorable. I recommend this book.
This was a cute story with colorful illustrations. I really liked the contrast of black and white backgrounds on the pages. If your child or children is afraid of the boogey (Boogeyman in the USA) then you need to read this book with them. It even gives the recipe for how to make boogey-b-gone spray. I also like the clever name of the spray. Children ages 2-6 would like this book.
A cute story about dealing with a “monster” in the bedroom. I like how the kids have a spray that they spray in their room to make the “boogey” be gone- readers can then make their own spray to spray in their room. I like how at the end there is a recipe for the same spray used in the book
Thank you to the publisher for giving me this copy in exchange for an honest review.
This book was alright. After just reading 'This is my Face' from the same author I wanted to read this one too. I have to say this one wasn't as fun to me as the other one was. I thought it was quite confusing that he referred to the imaginary monsters as 'Boogeys' since toddlers usually refer to that as boogers inside your nose. I liked the whole overall story of having a spray and spraying it on anything that might have monsters on it. But even though it was cute and it's cute for children I think a lot of them will have problems thinking about the locations of where all the boogeys were. Like on a washing line etc. It was cute but not as good as his other one. I did still enjoy all the rhyme in his books. It adds character.
Fear of night-time monsters is a typical challenge faced by many kids, and this book provides an easy way for parents to help them to deal with those concerns.
When Liam and Landen become scared of the Boogeyman, their parents come up with a novel idea. They offer a Boogey-B-Gone spray that will keep the monsters away!
This is a cute story, which young children can relate to and enjoy. So, my only reservation is with regards to the inclusion of honey in the spray, because that is likely to create more problems in it solves in terms of stickiness and bugs...
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this eARC.
Boogey-B-Gone is a fantastic bedtime book that details problem solving techniques in a fun and engaging way. The illustrations were some of my favorites and really lent details to the plot of the story.
My only caution on the story was the recipe, which included honey, to be sprayed. I don't feel like this is a great addition to a children's book since honey sprayed all over a house can lead to critters and sticky, hard to clean surfaces.
Many kids struggle with being afraid of monsters and/or the dark. This is a cute book about two brothers who are afraid of boogey monsters in their room, but Dad has a plan. The rhyming text will delight young readers and they will quickly be able to chime in as a caregiver reads to them.
Boogey-B-Gone
by Lee Alfred
A cute concept story about problem solving a typical social concept in small children. Everyone has had a boogey man in their closet, under their bed, or other places at night. Instead of the typical use of phycological manipulation, this story puts the power in the child's hands. The creation of a boogey man formula that a child can use with a "magical" rhyme to dispel their fears is a great resource for parents. It shows that childhood fears can be handled in a positive manner.

Boogey-B-Gone is a cute children's bedtime story that helps kids deal with monsters under the bed. The kids are scared and ask their parents for help, so they're parents give them Boogey-B-Gone spray and tell them the magic words to make it work! I think this is a wonderful book about being proactive and facing your fears, and the recipe at the end was such a perfect touch! My little guy is dealing with this fear right now, so I will definitely be reading him this story and making the Boogey-B-Gone spray for him! (Though wouldn't putting honey in it make everything you spray sticky?)
Thanks again for letting me see an advanced copy!
Very cute, fun and unique art style with lots of saturated colors. The inclusion of the recipe at the end was the true cherry on top. Would definitely recommend as a fun bedtime read and family activity.
A delightful children's book about getting rid of the boogey man, including a recipe to make at the end.
I had a smile on my face the entire time I read it.
5 stars!

This was a wonderful children’s story! The illustrations were lovely! I feel like this is a story that could really help children who fear monsters at bedtime. I especially loved the inclusion of a “how to make boogey spray” recipe at the end. This could be something very interactive that kids could do with their parents. However, I could see a child feeling the need to make this exact recipe every time they feel scared, which could become very cumbersome.
This is such a fun way to teach kids how to face their fear of "monsters."
I will be using the recipe for the spray in our home!
