Synopsis:

Grace and Hope are identical twin sisters born with the ability to time-cross together between 1692 Salem, Massachusetts, and 1912 New York City. As their twenty-fifth birthday approaches, they will have to choose one life to keep and one to leave behind forever—no matter the cost.

In 1692, they live and work in their father’s tavern, where they must watch helplessly as the witch trials unfold in their village, threatening everyone. With the help of a handsome childhood friend, they search for the truth behind their mother’s mysterious death, risking everything to expose a secret that could save their lives—or be their undoing.

In 1912, Hope dreams of becoming one of the first female pilots in America, and Grace works as an investigative journalist, uncovering corruption and injustice. After their parents’ orphanage is threatened by an adversary, they enter a contest to complete a perilous cross-country flight under the guidance of a daring French aviator.

The sisters have already decided which timeline they will choose, but an unthinkable tragedy complicates the future they planned for themselves. As their birthday looms, how will they determine the lives—and loves—that are best for both of them?

WOW - how does one even BEGIN to review this masterpiece of a novel?! I have been a fan of this series since the very first book, and now I hope it never ends! The possibilities of timelines for time-crossers to experience seems infinite, and I just hope we get at least one more past the 4th book that's on the heels of this book - For a Lifetime.

It's so hard to review this book without giving spoilers, but I shall endeavor to do my best! First and foremost, Gabrielle has woven two incredibly exciting eras of history - the Salem Witch Trials occurring in 1692 alongside the introduction of female aviators in 1912. If you know 1912, you also know that the maiden voyage and subsequent sinking of the Titanic occurs then, too, and it is included in the storyline (that's all I will say about that!). While I have yet to research female aviators since finishing (on the to-do list!), I have started reading more about Puritan Massachusetts, the Quakers, and the real truth about the Salem Witch Trials that I have woefully misunderstood up to this point. While there's nothing overtly gory described in the book, there's no question that the results of the Trials were painful to read. It is hard not to draw a comparison between how people were easily influenced by the mainstream then vs. now, and discernment is harder to come by than it should be.

Second, I didn't think Gabrielle could top the romantic tension from book two, but it is OVERFLOWING in For a Lifetime! Isaac and Luc are the male counterparts to Hope and Grace, and until I read the very last page, I honestly had zero clue how these relationships would end. One minute, I thought I had figured it out, but the next chapter would have me guessing once again. Pure agony, but the good kind!

Third, it's hard not to notice the spiritual themes in this story, and I'm so thankful for authors that do not shy away from that. God's purpose for our lives, forgiveness, extending mercy to those who need it most - each one flowed through this story as easily as a breath.

While I could certainly go on and on and risk spoiling all the great things about this story, I will leave you with this - just get your hands on this book. Not just this one, but the whole series. You will scarcely find time to do anything else because they are all that engrossing. And then when you finish, you won't be able to stop yourself from telling everyone you know HOW GOOD THEY ARE like I have (hopefully) done just now!

Here's hoping that this author and publisher keep this series going for as long as possible!

**Review has also been posted to Amazon, but I do not have a direct link to it as of yet.

Entertaining historical split time fiction with an encouraging Christian message.

I loved the addition of twins. The closeness of the girls added to the difficulty of their decision on which timeline to stay in. The Salem witch trials are a part of history we’ve all heard about, but stories like these make me think about the tragedy of what can happen when group hysteria takes over. The depiction of the relationships between men and women in 1962 made me think about how life must have been like for many women at that time.

The spiritual themes and Christian ideas were strongly presented.

The novel worked well as a stand alone, but still had a few hints to tie in the previous books.
I enjoyed reading about the connections between the different time traveling characters and the families.

There’s a fourth book coming, and I hope this series continues. I love visiting all the different time periods and the whole idea of time travelers.. The novelty, characters, and story lines delving into different historical periods will keep me coming back for more.

Thank you to Bethany House and NetGalley for providing me with an e-copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

I think the premise of this series is so interesting...that someone can live in two time periods and then must decide which to live permanently in at a certain age. Each of the books so far has had a different twist or emphasis in the time crossing. In this book there are twin sisters who cross between 1912 and 1692. Will they stay together or go their separate ways on their 25th birthdays?

This book started out a little slow for me. The sisters live in Salem at the time of the witch trials so they 100% want to leave and live in 1912 as soon as they can. Life is hard and unpleasant for them there and if anyone finds out about their special gift, it could be catastrophic. But things in 1912 aren't super easy either.

There's a huge twist part way through the book that I didn't see coming. I always like being caught off guard. It brought out another dimension to time crossing. While the storylines were interesting, I didn't find the girls to be very relatable. For this book, the plot rather than the people drove the story for me.

Thank you to Bethany House for providing me with an e-copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

If you are a stranger to Gabrielle Meyer's Timeless series, than you NEED to become acquainted with this outstanding series...and soon! ;) To my knowledge there isn't another series that can compare to this intriguing, complex, and though-provoking series full of history, time travel, heartbreak, courage, growth, love, and faith. I have been spellbound by Ms. Meyer's series from the first page of When the Day Comes until the very last page of her latest release For a Lifetime. I would recommend that you read this series in order to gain a greater context and appreciation for specifics in this book; however, For a Lifetime could be read out of order. When you do pick up For a Lifetime, be prepared to be fully engaged by this book and not be able to set it down!

Grace and Hope aren't your average identical twin sisters. Both sisters have the responsibility and gift of living in two times: Salem, Massechusetts in 1692 and New York City in 1912. When the twins turn twenty-five they will face a difficult choice: which life will they choose to stay in permanently? As young unmarried ladies in 1692, Grace and Hope are horrified and nervous with the Salem witch trials unfolding in their very town. With their time travelling and sometimes strange behaviors, will they be suspected or charged with such crimes? Just when they think that their lives in 1692 are complicated enough, they discover the truth behind their mother's death and rely on a close friend to uncover more of the truth.

Meanwhile, in 1912, Hope is fearless in her pursuit of making a name for herself as one of the first female pilots in America. Grace pursues justice in her work as an investigative journalist by using the power of the press to bring corruption to light and help the needy. Hope enters a dangerous cross-country flight in hopes of winning a large monetary award, which could help prevent their parent's orphanage from being taken away from them. Hope is enraptured by her aviation instructor, Luc, a daring French pilot, but is unsure of his feelings. Both sisters are planning on staying in 1912 when their choice is upon them; however, a tragedy befalls them, leaving the twins with many dilemmas and sacrifices ahead of them. Can they find a life purpose in the paths they are in? Can both Grace and Hope learn to rely on God to find true happiness? Which time period will they choose? Can they survive the time periods they find themselves in? Read For a Lifetime to find out for yourself! I promise, you will not be disappointed! Happy reading!

I have to say that the names chosen by Ms. Meyer, Grace and Hope, were perfect and fit with the recurrent themes of faith and growth throughout this book. The plot was engaging and very emotional. I appreciated the two perspectives in history as well as the ease with which Ms. Meyer switched back and forth between the two times, never leaving the reader confused. I enjoyed the fact that this story brought a complex plot with twists that left me unsure of what happens next. I often dislike generally predictable plots, and I have to say that For a Lifetime is refreshingly unpredictable! :) Another aspect of this story that I appreciated was how realistic the relationships were, particularly that between Grace and Hope. Although identical twins, Grace and Hope had very different passions, personalities, and failings, leading them to disagreements and differing opinions. I appreciated how each sister learned to grow in faith and in integrity as well as in their willingness to sacrifice for each other. I appreciated the contrast of the two vastly different time periods as well as a catching a glimpse of the early days of flight. I could continue, but I hope that you can see that this is an outstanding book that will be well-worth your read. I highly recommend For a Lifetime and I am extremely excited to read the next books in this series! Yes, you read that correctly, BOOKS! I am very thankful that Ms. Meyer will be adding more books to this wonderful series! Check out For a Lifetime! Happy reading!

I had seen people rave about the Timeless series for a while now, and FINALLY had time just recently to sit down and read all three that are published...once I started reading, I literally couldn't stop and read all three in a week!

In For a Lifetime, there is a new twist of twin sisters born with the time-crossing ability. They are both VERY different from one another, and live in two VERY different time periods. Just when you think you know what is going to happen in their lives and relationships, everything is turned upside down and continues to keep you on your toes. I really don't want to say much more because you REALLY need to read it for yourself! But I definitely recommend starting with book number one and reading them in order to watch the family story unfold. You won't regret it!

For two years, I’ve heard glowing reviews for the time switch novels in the Timeless series by Gabrielle Meyer from a wide variety readers, those who don’t usually read time travel stories, those who don’t usually read Christian fiction, and many who enjoy both. I loved For a Lifetime (book 3) and am now a raving fan of this amazing series ... although I recommend reading them in order beginning with When the Day Comes.

From the first chapter, Ms. Meyer immerses readers in this fast-paced plot featuring twin sisters Grace and Hope who alternate days between 1692 Salem, Massachusetts and 1912 New York City. This places them in the midst of the Salem witch trials and the early days of women in aviation and journalism. The sisters fall asleep in one time/location and wake up in the other, and on their upcoming 25th birthday each must choose in which timeline they will remain.

The dual timeline story is so compelling with complex characters, complicated historical events, elements of faith, and the potential for four romances (one for each sister in each timeline). The pacing is excellent - time switching simply exists and isn’t bogged down in lengthy explanations, and I was on the edge of my seat several times to see what would next happen to the characters.

I definitely plan to read books 1 and 2 so I’m ready when book 4 Across the Ages releases in November 2024. Because readers love and support this series so much, the publisher and author are planning books 5 and 6!

Thank you to Bethany House and NetGalley for the review copies of this outstanding novel and to Gabrielle Meyer for the honor of serving on its launch team.

Grace and Hope are identical twins. They share the same face, and the same ability to live concurrently in two timelines. When they go to sleep in 1692, they wake up in 1912 and vise versa. But on their 25th birthday, they each to choose just one timeline.

In 1692, they live and work in their father's tavern and have a front row seat to the Salem Witch Trials. As the drama amplifies in the village, the twins, with the help of a handsome childhood friend, begin to search for the truth about their mother and try to avoid losing themselves in the hysteria.

In 1912, Grace is an investigative journalist, and Hope is an aspiring female pilot. When their parents' orphanage falls under threat by someone Grace exposed for wrong doing, Hope decides to enter a cross-country contest in search of the cash prize. As the girls travel with the help of a dashing French aviator, emotions get complicated when tradegy strikes.

Grace and Hope had decided which timeline they would choose, but when life circumstances complicate each timeline, they are left with many decisions about when and who to choose. Will they be able to stay together, or will their desires pull them apart?
_____
I was iffy going into this book knowing that the 1692 timeline centered on the Salem Witch Trials, but Meyer's deft hand crafted a story that was engaging, empathetic, and entertaining. With a mystery that had me really contemplating the ramifications of the revelations, this timeline added so many layers of nuance to this series as a whole.

And the 1912 timeline had me literally gasping several times. I did prefer this timeline mostly because it makes more sense to my modern sensibilities. But also because the personalities of the girls really shone here. Free from the extreme weight of Puritan ideals, the girls are more free to be their authentic selves here and we get to experience them unfettered.

I don't cry easily in books and I'm pretty sure this book made me teary twice. I'm so excited to see where this series goes. They are fantastic as standalone books but they are immensely better read in light of the journey Gabrielle Meyer is taking us on in this world of time crossers.

This is a closed door, kisses only historical time travel romance. It is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone.

Grace and Hope must choose between life in 1692 and 1912.

In 1692, the twins are first-hand witnesses of the Salem Witch Trials as their father's ordinary was the gathering place for meetings. It was also the grounds of many of the "afflictions".

In 1912, the girls are with their time-crossing mother, Maggie, who we met in In This Moment.

They have independence and are following their dreams. Grace is a journalist and Hope is an aviatrix.

Their 1912 path is not without strife as the twins fight to save the orphanage run by their parents.

In both pathways, the twins must decide how they will respond to their circumstances, what they'll sacrifice for love, and which time to choose.

For A Lifetime was an intriguing read with twists and turns that will keep you reading long past your bedtime.

Readers of For A Lifetime will be reminded that sometimes our choices lock us into consequences we hoped to avoid. Even so, God has plans for our lives and can use all things for His glory.

If I could give this book TEN STARS, I would! With an intriguing storyline that captivated my attention, dynamic characters who stole my heart and two alternating timelines that rotated between two POV's, I wholeheartedly fell in love with this story.

HIGHLIGHTS:
The Salem Witch Trials - Time-Crossing Twin Sisters - Women in Early Aviation

For a Lifetime is a thrilling tale of adventure and mystery (and a new favorite one my shelves!).

From the heavy darkness through the period of witch trials in 1692 Massachusetts to the bright, sensational days of women making flight history in 1912, dual stories happening simultaneously, I found myself propelled through this book at an exciting pace that held me captive. Twins, Grace and Hope, are well-developed characters that each bring something unique to the story with their vastly different, yet bold, personalities and make it that much more compelling.

Rich, interwoven threads of faith, sisterhood, duty and sacrificial love are displayed throughout the book and I found myself in tears towards the satisfying ending.

I loved how the intricately researched historical events of this story were presented in an entertaining way. I found the book to be well-written, creative and 100% A MUST READ! Can't wait for the next release in this series and to read this author's backlist as well!

I have not read a time travel book before and I LOVED this one that takes place in 1912 and 1692, which delved into the Salem Witch Trials. I found that time period most engaging. I can tell Gabrielle Meyers did meticulous research. In her afterword she states the names of those accused of witchcraft and put to death were actual people in history. Grace’s and Hope’s characters are inspired by the remarkable aviator Harriet Quimby of 1912.

Gabrielle's characters are richly developed, drawing readers in with their depth. Hope and Grace lead the story as expected, but the supporting cast: Luc, Isaac, Rachel, Pricilla, and even antagonists like Susannah and Leah, shine brightly in their own right. The concept of generational time travel and unexpected twists adds layers of intrigue and emotion to the narrative, keeping readers on the edge of their seats.

If you’re looking for an unputdownable historical fiction/Christian fiction read that weaves together themes of time-travel, faith, and sisterhood, you will really enjoy this book!

For a Lifetime by Gabrielle Meyer is the third book in her Timeless Series. You could read For a Lifetime as a stand-alone, but there are references to the other two books. Grace and Hope are identical twin sisters who spend half of their lives in 1692 Salem, Massachusetts and the other half in 1912 New York City. They wake up each day to a different life and will have to choose which life to live by their 25th birthday. So, do they stay together, follow their heart, or choose a life based on conviction?

This was such an exciting read. I enjoyed watching Hope and Grace transform into wonderful women. I felt their struggles and rejoiced in their victories. I was fascinated with their lives as pilots and reporters in 1912. Learning more about the 1692 Salem Witch Trials was very informative, but also very heart-breaking. The story had sweet romance and I was fascinated by what it would be like to love someone when your twin does as well. The themes of God’s sovereignty, trusting, and friendship resonated deeply with me.

I found this story filled with engaging characters, interesting settings, and beautiful themes of faith. I was so sad when the story ended, but cannot wait until book four publishes in October of 2024. This is an incredible series! I highly recommend.

I was given a copy by the publisher and not required to write a positive review.

5 STARS!

When anyone asks me for a book recommendation I always start with the Timeless series. I absolutely LOVE this series! Gabrielle Meyer knows how to craft a story that makes you carve a day out to read in one sitting. I was waiting on pins and needles for the third installment and it did not disappoint!

The blend of mystery, faith, love, time travel and historical fiction is woven so beautifully together. I love learning about different points of history and what life was like in those times. Meyer has a great way of remaining true to the history of those time periods that I really appreciate. The faith elements are also so relatable and moving.

I absolutely love this series and cannot wait till November for #4!

Thank you to Net Galley and Bethany House fiction for the eArc copy!

This was an amazing book. Grace and Hope are realistic characters and I loved to see them deal with the timelines they had to live in. 1692 was a terrible time to live in during the witch trials in Salem. 1912 seemed so much easier for them. But, in the final six months leading up to the sisters' 25th birthday, a lot had to happen before the day arrived when they had to choose what time they wanted to stay in. I loved how this was NOT a predictable read. I enjoyed every book in this series and can't wait for the next one.

“I believe God has created each of us for the times we live, and you were created for this purpose, for this time.”

Y’all. I can’t even say anything coherent right now. I’m in total book hangover mode. WOW. What a fabulous follow-up to the first two books in this series, and a STUNNINGLY GREAT novel on its own merit.

After I read When the Day Comes, with one young woman crossing between two very different time periods and having to ultimately choose between one, I worried a little about how Meyer could possibly top such a masterful novel. And then I read In This Moment, with one young woman crossing between THREE time periods, and I knew I shouldn’t have been even the slightest bit concerned. Because it was even better than masterful – just absolutely amazing in every way. And now For a Lifetime has surpassed them both, with TWINS crossing between two time periods, and while I am quite happily calling the author a genius I’m still not sure it’s even the best word to do justice to her incredible plotting skills. I know, I know. I’m being as incoherent as I feared I would be but y’all… this series is truly a masterpiece and with each new addition the layers get more complex and the emotions run even higher and I am completely engrossed in every word.

There’s a lot I want to gush about… but I want to be super careful about spoilers. The two timelines that Grace and Hope cross between together were equally fascinating to me, but for different reasons. I probably don’t have to tell you why being in Salem in 1692 was compelling – most people have heard of the infamous Salem Witch Trials – but it wasn’t something I had studied beyond the little I was taught in school. As I read these scenes, I felt the heaviness that Grace & Hope experienced there, despite the bright light of people like handsome Isaac. And I was horrified at the fear-driven hysteria and how easily manipulated the people were, something that paralleled our current culture alarmingly well. In their 1912 path, the twins are what feels like a world away from the oppressive weight of 1692 – Females breaking barriers as journalists and aviators, the United States in its grand Progressive Era where innovations and modernizations are happening with increasing alacrity, swoony French flight instructor/stunt pilot Luc, and the presence of the girls’ parents (the subjects of book 2) all made this timeline a breath of fresh air. Until it wasn’t… until the layers in 1912 became just as (if not more) stunningly complex as the ones in 1692. And that’s I’m all going to say about that… except to add that this is the moment this book truly became my fave of the series (so far) and I could not have torn myself away if I had wanted to.

Bottom Line: I love everything about this series and about For a Lifetime. Gabrielle Meyer is truly a genius at creating fresh and captivating storylines that align the fictional concept of time crossing with a deep exploration of faith and history like I’ve never encountered before. Knowing that they each have to choose a timeline before their 25th birthday kept me on pins and needles – and with tears in my eyes – the closer we got to that date because any of the choices seemed impossible to make. I loved Grace and Hope (and though I felt more of a kinship with Grace, my family would probably say I was more like Hope haha). I was fully immersed in their stories, with all the complications and emotions and losses and gains involved. A million little writing choices on the part of the author reinforced my belief that she is just brilliant, and I am impatiently waiting for book 4 now – is it November yet?!?!?

This series is amazing! The time travel is handled so well. The history is so eye opening and well researched and well written. I love the twin sister relationship between Grace and Hope.

If you haven’t started reading the Timeless series, I urge you to take the leap and experience the amazing world of time crossers that Gabrielle Meyer has created. These books really are best read in order as there would be some big spoilers about which lifetimes were chosen by previous characters and you might miss the importance of some special little details that the author has included to tie the books together.

I have loved this entire series so far. I was nervous to read this book, though. Having read the first two, I expected that it would be an emotional journey. A good one! And it was. I was simply a bit nervous to read about these girls going through the witch trials and being in a situation that was so dangerous for them. However, the author handled it so well. I think it helped to be switching back and forth between the time periods and the girls perspectives.

From the first to the last, I was enamored with Hope and Grace’s stories. Both time periods held my interest equally, as did the potential love interests. When I wondered how the author would wrap things up, I thought of potential ways things could work out. And they would have been satisfactory, I think. However, the way the author actually tied up everything was way beyond simply satisfactory. It left me with a happy glow and very eager for the next book in the series. I loved the epilogue so much! And, as it was with the previous stories, I loved the way the author entwined a beautiful faith journey for both girls.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

I seriously cannot rave enough about the Timeless series. The amount of research and time the author spends on each book is incredible.

Each book is a different cross-time character, but in For a Lifetime the characters are twins!! Their paths are 1692 during the Salem Witch Trials and 1912 during women’s aviation.

Hope and Grace choose their permanent path on their 25th birthday. I don’t want to give too much away, because there are so many twists to this book!

1692 holds Isaac, who loves Hope. 1912 holds Luc, whom Hope loves. Grace loves Isaac, even though he does not seem to know that.

The girls do not know their mother in 1692, as they were told she died in childbirth. But then family secrets come out. Secrets that could change their course.

I know my review is not doing this incredible book justice, but this authors writing style is so incredible. This series is so well written and descriptive that I feel as though I’m the character living her paths.

To think a chance video by Bethany House Fiction on Facebook introduced me to Gabrielle Meyer’s!!! So grateful I saw that. Cannot wait for book 4!!

This is book 3 in the unique historical fiction/time travel series! I am so pumped to keep reading this series (book # 6 was just approved!) 🎉

This book follows time crossing twins, Grace and Hope. They live in both 1912 working as an aviator and a newspaperwoman and in 1692 in Salem. Yes, Salem 🧙🏻‍♀️
The girls find obstacles in both timelines and as their 25th birthday approaches they will have to pick which path to stay in. I don’t want to give away much so I’ll stop there 🤐

Meyer crafts such well researched stories and makes you feel like you are living in each era. I was genuinely horrified and STRESSED reading about the twins during the Salem witch trials. This was definitely a great addition to the series and I’m so excited for Book 4! There are pirates!

I really enjoy the series by Gabrielle Meyer. Each book has its own unique twist, chronicling a family line with the ability to time travel. I am always in awe of how Gabrielle comes up with these entertaining stories! I love how immersed I get in the history and story. It feels like I’m right there in the midst of it. This time, Meyer brings twin time travelers for twice the reading fun. Written in dual POV, we join Grace and Hope as they travel between 1692 Salem and 1912 New York.

Salem and the perilous time of the witch trials is not something I read a lot about in history or stories, so I went in a little blind, but I thought Gabrielle handled the difficult, dark times of that period of history well. I liked that this story is about risk and sacrifice, how we respond during hardship, finding truth and overcoming differences, and most of all, how God’s plans don’t always look like we think they should or would love them to. And that we must rely on Him and His timing. The sisters' bond was so moving and made me feel all the emotions. There were moments my heart broke right along with them. If you're a fan of time travel, immersive historical fiction, and clean romance, then the Timeless Series is definitely for you! I can’t wait for book four this fall.

Thank you, to the author and publisher for sending me a copy of the book! All thoughts are mine.
