For a Lifetime has to be my favourite of all the Timeless books yet. However, I think I said the same thing about the first two books! I love Gabrielle Meyer's writing. She makes you feel like you are time-travelling right along with her characters.
What makes this book so compelling and different from the first two books is that we have time-travelling twins. They wake up in either 1692 or 1912 when they go to sleep. Unfortunately, in 1692, they lived in Salem, Massachusetts, amidst the witch trials, where nearly everyone faced accusations of witchcraft.
1912 New York City isn't so bad, as both girls can pursue careers that make them happy. So, you'd think choosing 1912 would be a no-brainer. But that is where the author takes us on a journey that keeps you reading until the wee hours of the morning. It will keep you from doing anything, as I couldn't put this book down at all and spent all day and night reading it. It's that good.
If you have a fondness for time travel, romance, history, and danger, you will undoubtedly enjoy reading For a Lifetime. If you haven't read any of the other books, don't worry. You can read it as a standalone. But take my advice: read the other books. This series is a keeper!

Book three in the time crosser series did not disappoint. The book is set in dual time periods. One time period is set around the Salem witch trials. Grace and Hope fall to sleep at midnight and are in either the 1690s or 1912 in the time period where aviation was becoming popular. At tge age of twenty five they will have to choose which time period they will stay in, These time crosser series have captured my heart, they are so good and hard to put down and are well researched.
This was a really good read, and to be honest, I was surprised, dual timelines are not generally successful.
This is book 3 in a series, and follows twins, Grace and Hope, as they exist in both 1692, and 1912.
1692 covers the Salem witch trials, and is dark and gritty, while 1912 sees aviation featuring as a huge plot point. The sisters have love in each era, and must ultimately decide which life they want to leave and which life they want to remain in.
With God’s plan, can they have all they dream of?
Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this ARC in return for my honest review.
Time traveling novel about twins living in dual time lines in the 1690s and 1912. The twins are certain they will choose to live permanently in
1912 when the turn 25, but things change when tragedy happens, and they must decide what they really want from their lives. Very interesting story, and probably the best yet of Meyer's time travel novels.
For a Lifetime is the third book in the Timeless series by Gabrielle Meyer and was one of my most anticipated reads for 2024. This Christian fiction series follows the lineage of a family of time travelers and is a captivating blend of historical fiction, time travel, and clean romance.
Each book in the series follows a different female character and her time-traveling abilities and adventures. But what I especially love, is the unique twists Meyers adds for each novel -- and book three was no exception! For a Lifetime not only alternates between two time periods -- 1692 Salem and 1912 New York -- it also alternates between twin sisters living in both timelines, Grace and Hope. This had the potential to get very confusing, however, Meyer did an excellent job structuring the storytelling and keeping perspective clear.
The time periods for this novel were both fascinating, each hooking me with their storylines and twists. If you've followed along with my reviews, you'll know that I am a sucker for a "women in aviation" plot, and I loved that element in the 1912 timeline. However, it was the 1692 setting in Salem, Massachusetts that was the star of this book. Understandably, that timeline had higher stakes and felt a lot darker and more intriguing of a plot. Beyond a highschool English class, I hadn't researched or read a lot about the Salem witch trials, and it was an incredibly interesting setting for this novel. (I particularly appreciated Meyer's author note at the end of the book for further clarification and research on the subject!)
One of my favorite authors once said that romance books are supposed to be predictable because it builds the anticipation of two characters ending up together, and I absolutely felt that here with the romance storylines. The twins each had a unique voice, and I enjoyed both of their perspectives and romances. While I had a couple of nit-picky issues with plot/believability, this was another really fun read that I flew through in a day.
And, as with all the previous books, I thought the time travel element was well thought out. It was fun to see a nod toward a previous character in this story as well. There were twists, fantastic settings and characters, and a really unique and fun premise overall. (Note: I highly recommend reading this series in order so as not to ruin any of the reveals from the previous books!)
Another fantastic book, and I can't wait for book four arriving later this year! Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my gifted advance e-read.
I absolutely love the Timeless series by Gabrielle Meyer! Each and every story is so innovative and so well written. The storylines are always immersive with so many wonderful characters. Whenever I think I know what is going to happen, Ms. Meyer throws me for a loop and does what I totally did not expect or even think of as a possibility! While For a Lifetime is book #3, it can easily be read as a standalone as can all of the previous books in this series.
Grace and Hope are identical twins with polar opposite personalities. I really loved their relationship with each other and how they depended so much on each other because of their time-crossing. In one of their timelines, 1692, they live and work in their father’s tavern during the witch trials in Salem, MA. This storyline was so interesting, yet sad and dark. I wanted them out of there so bad! In their other timeline, 1912, they both have careers that they love and both are close to their parents. I want to say so much more, but basically everything would be a spoiler! So, I will just say that I absolutely loved this story, I was shocked more times than I can say, I cried more times than once, and I was completely satisfied when the story wrapped up! It has been days since I finished this one and it’s still on my mind.
I cannot wait for the next book in this series! I highly recommend each and every story. What amazes me about all of the stories in this series is that there is a time in each when I think that there is no way Ms. Meyer can pull this off so that I am happy with the ending, but each and every time she manages to do it! That takes a talented writer!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. I also purchased a copy. All opinions are my own. The faith thread is light. 5 stars!!
For a Lifetime by Gabrielle Meyer is a delightful tale with two historical events: Aircraft and the Salem Witch Trials. Meyer crafts a wonderful enthralling tale of two twin sisters who experience life during both time periods. Readers will be enchanted as they experience life through the eyes of Hope and Grace. I know I was. Meyer has a wonderful way of crafting historical drama that the readers will have a hard time putting the story down. I finished the books within one day, and I can’t wait for the next installment. Once they are all written, I will definitely want to read them all over again to see more little surprises that I did not come across the first time. Of course, romance does allude and capture both of the girls. I enjoy how Meyer wraps a spiritual truth for each character to learn. A nice lesson for the readers too. I love her descriptions of the setting, the clothes, and the characters. The characters are three-dimensional with real conflict, love interest, and struggle to decide what time period to choose. I love this series. It is original and unpredictable. I cannot wait for the next book, Across the Ages.
I received a complimentary copy of For a Lifetime by Gabrielle Meyer from Bethany House Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own.
There was a lot to like about this book. As usual, Ms. Meyer has an engaging writing style that pulls you into the story immediately.
As someone who has watched almost all of the Salem Witch trial documentaries and movies, I already knew most of what was happening in that timeline. It was sobering watching it play out and how helpless people were to change things.
The aviation storyline in 1912 was interesting, but what I loved most about the book was the sisters' faith journey as they learned that God works all things for His glory, even when His plans are not our own. The romance was sweet and made me a bit anxious a few times seeing how it was going to play out.
The book was an interesting, fast-paced read with sweet romance, and had wonderful character development and personal growth in their faith.
*I received an ARC. All opinions are my own.
I love this series and all the wonderful timelines Gabrielle Meyer chooses to write about. In this book, the Salem timeline was my favorite. The romances + faith themes were well developed. I found some things in the second timeline to be a bit unbelievable or realistic, but it was overall a lovely book.
Unlike the previous novels, this one tells the story of identical twins who travel together through two different eras. If you haven't read any of the series' chapters, fear not - the author gets readers up to speed in the first few chapters. To fully understand the complexities of this amazing journey, you'll want to read all the books.
In the first timeline, which is set in 1962, Grace and Hope find themselves in Salem, Massachusetts, during the witch trials. As they see the trials happening, how everyone began to feel terrified, and how they worried about who would be in jeopardy next, everything seems dismal there. The twins realized there was nothing they could do to influence how the trials turned out. It was hard to watch things play out. However, they were looking forward to turning twenty-five. At that point, they would have the option to choose the eternal timeline they wished to live in.
In 1912, Hope pursued her dream of becoming the first woman pilot to fly the English Channel, while Grace worked as an investigative journalist. Everyone has a career.1912 was an exciting time. I liked that Hope and Grace were very different. Hope loved taking risks, and Grace liked things slow and steady. Her heart was with a man in 1692, and Hope desired to catch the eye of Luc in 1912.
I loved learning about the history of aviation as the twins chased their dreams. I was horrified to read about the Salem witch trials. I appreciated the author’s notes where she explained what was true about history and where we could get more information about real historical events.
This is a fantastic choice for your upcoming book club selection. You won’t soon forget the twin’s incredible journey in "For a LifeTime."
The next thrilling adventure, titled, "Across the Ages," is slated for release in November, so readers won't have to wait long to see where the twins leap to next. You don't want to miss reading the dramatic and captivating time travel trilogy series. After reading “For a LifeTime” I’m counting the days until “Across the Ages” is released.

This third book in the Timeless series is filled with great plot twists and, as with the previous two books, is a wonderful immersion into previous times. The twin sisters in this book are fun to be with and credibly twinny in their distinct personalities. Excellent escape reading!
Fantastic!!! This whole series is good and gets better with each book! Definitely one of my top favorites.
Absolutely AMAZING!! Grace and Hope are twins that have two lives. One life is in 1692 Salem during the witch trials. The other life is in 1912, where Grace is a journalist and Hope is a female pilot. In both timelines big things are happening. In 1912, Hope is wanting to become the first female pilot to fly across the English Channel. She also is in love with Luc, who is also a pilot. Grace comes along with Hope and Luc to write about the event. In 1692 the witch trials have begun, and Grace and Hope are hoping they will not be accused. To make matters worse, they learn some disturbing news surrounding their mother's death and get a new stepmother who is not kind and younger than them. Grace is in love with Isaac in 1692. And I will leave it at that to not give away any more information or accidental spoilers.
Like I said, this story is incredible. I predicted what would happen, a little, but there were multiple things I didn't see coming and my mouth dropped several times. I don’t know how the author always comes up with new surprises. I loved both Grace and Hope so much! They are both very strong and brave women. I loved the Christian content in this story! The Salem Witch Trials is a very difficult topic to write on because it is so tragic. I thought the author did a great job in portraying it accurately and it definitely made me sad for the real people it effected. I also thought the early airplane or aeroplane elements were fun. It was fun to learn about the woman Hope was based on in the historical notes. Overall, a fantastic story as always and I look forward to Book 4!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author and netgalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
This book is fantabulous!!! For a Lifetime had me hooked on page 1! Hope and Graces stories flowed smoothly, I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to keep the story line straight, but Gabriel Meyer wove an amazing story that flowed together seamlessly.
For a Lifetime is, so far, my favorite of the series. I would 100% recommend this book to anyone who loves to read!
This is the third book in the Timeless series by .Gabrielle Meyer. I have enjoyed this unconventional series and recommended it to others.
Twin sisters Hope and Grace live in both 1692 In .Salem. Massachusetts and 1912 in New York City. Salem at that time was in the midst of witch trials. In 1912, Hope is hoping to become one of the first female airplane pilots in the country, while Grace is interested in journalism. Both sisters are leaning towards remaining in 1912 on their twenty-fifth birthday, but will that be what happens? Read the book to find out!
I received this book from the publisher via net galley in exchange for an honest review. Four stars.
I couldn't wait to read this book and continue the Timeless series! Book 1 is one of my all-time favorite fiction books. Book 2 was great as well!
Book 3, For A Lifetime, was a little too anxiety-inducing for me personally with the Salem (as in Salem Witch Trials) timeline.
I did appreciate how each character's' faith matured and the emphasis on deepening your fellowship with the Lord. Also, seeing Maggie again was fun, and I really enjoyed the connection to Libby from book 1.
The story was engaging and well-written, and I am POSITIVE a ton of people will love this book, but I'm at a point in my life where I don't seek darker-themed fiction because it unsettles me. But I will definitely be continuing with the series when Book 4, Across the Ages, is released in November. I think this is just a case of this specific book's subject matter not being a good fit for me at this time. I'm still glad I read it though. If you haven't read any of them yet, start with When the Day Comes. It's amazing!
This is the third in a wonderful series that I am enjoying immensely. But how to keep the premise fresh? Well, lets have not one time-traveling gal but two! What a fantastic addition and I think it made this book even stronger than the two previous ones (although they were both amazing). I LOVED this book and could not put it down. It takes place both in 1692 Salem and 1912, and they both have a big choice to make. I won't say anymore because I don't want to give anything away, but do yourself a huge favor and run to get this book. You won't be able to put it down! I can't wait to see what Gabrielle Meyer does next!!! Hugely satisfying on all levels, those who want romance, history, and a thrilling story will be very pleased. 100 stars!!!
"Life is full of twists and turns. We can't always predict which way it will go, but it's a magnificent journey when we let it take us where it wants."
Oh me, oh my! This Timeless series is hitting in all of the right spots.
First off, the history was FASCINATING. I found myself researching in addition to reading because Meyer's writing hit deep into my history loving soul and she really expounded on historical elements that I didn't know about. It was like a deep dive into elements while still letting the story tell itself.
The characters! I was so intrigued how this storyline would work with twins. It worked, and worked SO WELL! Yes, I'm bringing out the caps throughout this review because this book (and series) deserve all the caps! I loved the contrast in characters. I loved watching them learn and grow and become who they were destined to be.
The feels. There are all of the feels in this book. Some moments took my breath away, some buoyed me up and some absolutely gutted me. I loved the anticipation that continued to build throughout the entire story. There were so many times I couldn't turn the pages fast enough because I HAD TO KNOW how this book would end! The twists and turns were oh so good and so well placed. And the romance was so sweet and tender!
I can't say enough good things about this one! The research was on point, the historical settings were vivid and the characters storylines were everything and more than I hoped they would be!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Content: historical prejudice (Salem Witch Trials), aviation elements, romance- kisses only and one mention of implied intimacy between a married couple.
I have one word for this book.
Fantabulous! I loved every minute of it.
I loved both girls' experience and I definitely loved both timelines.
These two timelines are just awesome. The events in 1692 were very scary and ridiculous at the same time, if that's possible. You couldn't sneeze without someone accusing you of something.
I didn't and still don't like those girls to this day.
They were like the popular girls of high school in today's times. If they didn't like you or get their way, there was trouble that didn't seem fair at all.
Betty and Abigail were the worst.
I loved Hope's personality. Very energetic and outgoing. She didn't seem afraid of anything, which I very much admired. I wish I was more like her.
I was very much pulled in from the beginning until the end of this wonderful story.
Here's a quote that was my favorite
Time was a gift—one of the greatest we would ever be given— and I wouldn't take it for granted.
There were a few places that I was absolutely appalled and even cried because of these events in 1692.
1912 was awesome too. I learned quite a bit about aviation. How wonderful it must feel to be up there in that great big sky!
I'm afraid of heights so I'll bever know laugh out loud.
Be sure to read the author's notes at the end. Those are just as important and interesting as the story itself.
I finished this fantastic adventure in one evening. It was so good and will be my favorite by this author.
I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars. It certainly deserves it!
My thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.
