Another Charley Davidson and this one had a LOT going and with Reyes around, things are very very hot. In normal Charley fashion, she has a lot going on in her personal life and with the ghosts that hang around her apartment and this time it’s a lot of ghosts and Charley needs to figure out what happened to them, what’s going on with her sister, who’s burning down buildings and so on…I don’t think this girl actually gets much sleep. As usual, Charley made me laugh, Reyes made me swoon and he also made me want to smack him, and I was on the edge of my seat for all the mayhem that was happening around Charley.
If you already love Charley you will love this one.
I have slowly made my way through all the books in this series and decided to review as a whole. These are amazing. Funny, smart with characters to love. They have made a believer out of me that PNR can be for me!!!
full of sass and wit, the pacing will never let you down , will have you laughing, and the characters are amazing, and the chaos the main character gets into will have setting on the edge of your set
This is the fifth Charley Davidson book, and I have to say, I think it 's my favorite one so far! The ever handsome, and sexy son of Satan himself, Reyes Farrow, has moved in next door, and a whole slew of dead women have taken up residence in Charley's apartment, so basically, a Tuesday. While Charley's used to dealing with ghosts, these particular women are scared to death, climbing the walls and catatonic, so Charley's going to have to use every tool in her arsenal to try to solve this mystery. Her trusty sidekick, Cookie, is busy taking a concealed carry class that Charley signed her up for, much to Cookie's dismay, so Charley's on her own a lot, which usually means trouble.
This book is full of sass and wit, which are two of my favorite things! The pacing is spot on, as usual, and the characters are varied and well written.
This book doesn't disappoint, whether it's is your fifth trip into the Charley-verse or your first.
Highly recommend - 5/5 stars!
*** I would like to thank NetGalley, St. Martin's Press, and Darynda Jones for the opportunity to read and review this book.
What Charley won't do to protect her family is very little. With Reyes literally right next door, dead women in her apartment, and a serial killer with eyes on Charley's sister, this installment was nail biting, sexy, swoon-worthy, with your typical Charley Davidson sass thrown in.
I could not get this version to download properly on any device I owned. I tried for about a month before I finally gave up.
I started this series and read the first 8 books back to back. I love this author and these characters. The world building and storyline are so good and well developed!
What can I say - I just love this series - Charley is not just any run of the mill
Grim Reaper but is also a Private Investigator extraordinaire .
Reyes has now moved in next door , she is determined to stay as far away from her lover as she can .... ..because he is now the main suspect in the arson cases .
When more and more dead women start appearing in her home she realises that she must ask Reyes
for his help ..... for whilst these frightened dead women won't talk to her they have one thing in common
- they were all killed in the same way .
When Charley realises that her sister Gemma might just be next on the serial killers list she knows
she will have to use all her skills to hunt the killer before its too late .
This is the latest book in the series , it just goes from strength to strength ......,fast paced , witty dialogue that made me laugh out loud , twists and turns throughout .......... the cast of friends and foes continue to expand but Charley cannot do without Reyes and her redoubtable side-kick secretary/neighbour
I look forward to reading the next in the series
What a fascinating book. I was impressed by the storyline and the characters were all well written and complex. Where there are complex storylines combined with intriguing characters the reader experience is magnified tremendously. To have a book that is well written as well as entertaining is a delight. Reading is about escaping your world and entering another one. The word building was phenomenal in this book. Here I forgot about my own life and was immersed in the world created by the author. I would recommend this book.
I love Charlie, this is another awesome installment in an Amazing series. I'm so ready to read the next one.
I sat down and read all the books and the little novellas in two day. That has to be saying something. HOLY Macaroni!!!!!(have to read the book to understand) There are a lot and I mean a lot of things going on here. Do not blink you may miss something. Don't skip past go. It is a must to cruse slowly. One must peruse with the utmost extreme caution. Soak up every little detail, but don't let them suck you under. You will need it. Charley and Reyes bother are back and in full form.
Having read the ones before this no way was I not gonna read this one since it has me enslaved. Oh my Reyes moves next door and you wonder how she will get anything done. But she has to keep it together her sister is next so on with the chase. Filled with suspense and heat you get tied up in this one racing along until you realize oh no done and on to the next one.
Redemption in Book #5. I think this one may be one of the better in the series that I've read. Charley still a bit cheesy, but the snarkiness is back and better. There is more background information to how Charley became who she is, the Reaper.
"Fifth Grave Past the Light" was a bit of a let down. It's one par with the second book for me. I hope the next book in the series is better.
This series is just great!! I absolutely love Charley and her sarcasm and witty banter! Each book just seems to get better and better! It's hilarious and completely thrilling.
Love the Charley Davidson series!!
No matter how many times I read these books they make me giggle...I love that she is witty, kicks ass and talks to the dead
I love the whole series. I've read and listened to the series multiple times. Charley is appreciatively grumpy and snarky. I, too, have an appreciation for coffee and enchiladas. And sarcasm. (General Review for series books 1-12)
I requested all the books in the series when they were available, but decided not to continue past book 3. I will not be reviewing this book.
Paranormal private eye and Grim Reaper, Charley Davidson, just can't stay away from Reyes, the sexy son of Satan. Even if he is her main suspect in an arson investigation.
I freakin' love this series!! Charley and Reyes are awesome.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor.
Fifth Grave Past the Light is the fifth book in the Charley Davidson series. This can be read as a standalone, though personally I think you should read the books in order written so you fully understand the storyline. There is violence and sex. I really enjoy this series. It is the perfect mix of paranormal and romance. Plus, you gotta love a gal who loves coffee as much as I do!
