Your public break-up goes viral and leads to a reality TV appearance with a million dollars on the line? Talk about a gripping premise!

This sweet romcom was so much deeper than I anticipated it would be and I loved every second of it. Olivia and Chuck both seem to be pretty immature people from the start — but the character growth is phenomenal.

The chemistry between Olivia and Chuck is off the charts — the tension is soooo good! Such a slow burn with so. much. steam. 🔥🔥🔥

The ending felt rushed and I wish one certain plot line had been more drawn out (obviously can’t expand on that without spoilers 😆).

Highly recommend if you like:
second chance romance
forced proximity
family drama
Hollywood setting

The Deja Glitch was a surprise 5 star favorite last year, so I quickly jumped on the chance to read Jolly James' new book. This ended up being a case where I should have been more aware of how rigid I can be with particular tropes, because even though the book was well written, I couldn't connect to the Hollywood scene characters and reality TV theme.

Olivia Martin is the daughter of an ill fated, infamous Hollywood couple, who has largely lived her life out of the spotlight due to the careful upbringing from her grandmother. Her on again, off again boyfriend, B-list actor Chuck Walsh has just been fired from his breakout role amid production, and the two do what they do best, fight. Their screaming match on the street ends up going viral, and catches the eye of the producers of the reality game show, Name Your Price. They pitch the former couple with the unthinkable - live together in a house with their every move recorded for one whole month without either of them leaving, and they will win a million dollars each. Desperate for the cash to keep her mother in her nursing home, Olivia agrees, and the forced proximity ups the tension that has always existed between them. With the producers throwing every obstacle in their way to try to manipulate them into giving up their fortune, Olivia has to fight her instincts to run away from her feelings. The physical chemistry between the couple was palpable, but Olivia was emotionally closed off and hard to connect with. It was a quick read and easy to digest, but it didn't blow me away.

I wasn't sure about the reality TV angle here. I have had hit and misses with this, but the premise was intriguing. I found this captivating and was rooting for Chuck all along. He was a smitten secretive guy who was just trying to keep his girl! Olivia was a but much sometimes, but I loved their banter and inability to stay apart.

Thanks to the publisher for this advanced eCopy. All thoughts are my own!

Name Your Price by Holly James is a fun, quick read, about Chuck and Olivia, a couple whose hot-tempered relationship goes viral when their angry and public break-up is filmed, without their knowledge. Never one to pass up an opportunity, reality TV producer TJ Price reaches out to them with a proposition: a Big Brother-type seclusion together in a house for a month. If they make it, it's worth a million dollars to them. At Olivia's insistence - a million dollars each.

But it wouldn't be reality TV without some major challenges. Can they overcome the challenges presented by the show - and more importantly, by each other?

It's a fun ride, finding out. The quick-paced novel has realistic situations and misunderstandings, and characters you can't help but like and root for. Definitely recommend.

Holly James was 2 for 2 with me and now she’s bumped to 3 for 3! She is 100% an auto buy author for me at this point.

Name Your Price was such a fun premise to me and it brought the “guilty pleasure” of watching reality tv to my reading, which I LOVED! The banter, tension, and snippets of cuteness were top notch and the chemistry was literally bounding off the page in my opinion. Along with the side plots of celebrity scandal, I couldn’t put it down once I started it.

This story did second chance so well and I loved the ode to actively WORKING on relationships rather than the more cookie cutter “happy ending”. I would highly recommend this book to my romance and reality tv lovers, as well as strongly encouraging you to check out Holly’s other books!

Name Your Price by Holly James is just too much fun. Olivia and Chuck have a love/hate relationship. They have explosive chemistry, which is great for their physical relationship, but otherwise they are constantly fighting. And this time when Olivia breaks up with Chuck she swears it’ll be for the last time. Unfortunately their breakup was captured on camera and went viral…attracting the attention of the TV show Name Your Price…and they’ve made Olivia and Chuck an offer, and since both are in dire need of cash it’s an offer they can’t refuse. They need to live together for a month in a house, having their lives filmed 24/7. If they can do it, they’ll each walk away with a million dollars. Of course the deck is stacked against them with rules geared to push their buttons and drive them crazy. Great characters with a fun story make this a romcom not to be missed. I’d like to thank PENGUIN GROUP Dutton and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an eARC of Name Your Price.

This is cute, it was not what I expected and I found it to be predictable and very slow in parts, but overall I enjoyed it. I was able to skim through the parts I found slow and it did not miss anything. I thought the story line was cute - exes who are trapped in a house for a month to win $1 million each. While trapped in the house they need to actually talk and walk through some of their issues. The dynamic between them is annoying at first, but by the end you fall in love with them. I loved the chemistry and the growth that they both went through. Overall a cute summer read.

Thank you to @hellohollyjames @prhaudio & @duttonbooks for the #gifted paperback & #audio #ARC of #NameYourPrice

I really loved last year’s The Déjà Glitch by #HollyJames so I couldn’t wait to #read Name Your Price.

Olivia & Chuck have insane chemistry. They literally cannot keep their hands off each other. But they also have plenty of fights & making up is one of their favorite activities. That is, until Olivia has finally had enough after Chuck lets her down by missing her grandmother’s birthday dinner. They have a HUGE public fight that gets recorded by the host of Name Your Price & goes viral since Chuck is a famous “bad boy” #actor & Olivia is caught up in a decades long #scandal involving her #Hollywood parents. Name Your Price gets them to agree to do the show by letting them name their price of $1M each if they succeed. Chuck has his own reasons for needing the money & Olivia’s grandmother is about to get kicked out of her nursing home if Olivia doesn’t come up with past due payments very quickly.

All Chuck & Olivia have to do is live in a locked house together for one month without angering each other so much they bail, plus participate in some fun little challenges to keep it entertaining - - or so they think. What the #gameshow really has planned for them is far worse than either could have imagined. Will they be able to make it the full month without hitting their breaking points or will they be rolling in huge piles of cash? And how will their relationship be once it’s all over?

I LOVED both MCs, but definitely loved Chuck a little more. He’s not perfect, but Olivia’s issues are definitely more crippling to their relationship. I wanted to scream at her so many times. And the villain to this story? He’s a doozy! I loved the premise of the story being a reality game/dating show. I’m a sucker for #RealityTV! Most of all, I loved how Olivia & Chuck really worked on their relationship & their issues the entire way through the #book. The growth in both of them was phenomenal.

If you had the opportunity to live under the roof for a million dollars with your ex would you do it?

I loved the premise of this. If you are a fan of reality tv, romcoms, tension, and banter, this is for you. It was very lighthearted.

This is an amusing love story that’s perfect to read at the beach 🏖️ or by the pool.
Olivia and Chuck have finally broken up for the last time, and this time it went viral. The reality TV show offers to pay them $1M each if they live together for a month, no touching! That’s unfortunate, because the two of them have extra strength chemistry and it’s hard to keep their hands (and lips) to themselves. Olivia needs the money to pay for her grandma’s nursing home, and Chuck has been unfairly accused of trouble on a movie set.
The show wants them in particular because Chuck is an up and coming movie star, and Olivia is the product of one of Hollywood’s most famous doomed affairs.
I liked Holly James’ last book and this one is just as good.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley, I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Marrying zany reality TV hijinks and a romance with both simmering sexual tension and an unexpected amount of depth, Name Your Price was a near-perfect adult romcom that took me by surprise.

I really enjoyed this book. I felt like I could really relate to Olivia and all her initial anxieties and feelings.

I have been very into the reality TV trope this summer. This fell a little flat for me and I didn’t see the connection between the two. I did love the grandma however!

NAME YOUR PRICE is a sweet romance with just a dash of spice. If you like forced proximity and reality show tropes, you’ll enjoy this book. It follows the story of Olivia (daughter of a Hollywood starlet) and Chuck (an aspiring actor) who are challenged to live together for a million dollar payout.

There’s some great chemistry between these two and some cute banter. I was interested in Olivia’s backstory and I would have liked more about that, but overall this was an easy, fun read with a great premise. 3.5 stars for me.

Thank you to publisher Dutton and NetGalley for the early digital copy of NAME YOUR PRICE in exchange for my feedback.

I really enjoyed this one and found it fun. I was pretty entertained with this romcom. We meet Olivia and Chuck - with amazing chemistry that you can feel through the pages. Their banter is hilarious and witty. They are challenged to spend one month together without touching each other - can they do it? You get an interesting reality show in this one - where their palpable chemistry might get exploited for the show concept. It was fun, go in blind. Thank you to NETGALLEY and Penguin Group for this eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Name Your Price starts with the tumultuous, viral breakup of Olivia and Chuck, which catches the eyes of some producers of a reality show. They are approached with the idea of a challenge to live under one roof for a month without touching (or killing) each other – think Too Hot To Handle type of TV show – for a huge monetary prize. Olivia needs the money to care for her grandmother and Chuck’s showbiz career isn’t taking off like he’d like so he could use the publicity.

I adored the full-circle moment at the end with Olivia confronting her past and learning why Chuck’s career hit a speed bump. Their chemistry was also great. This was an easy, fun read!

Thank you to Holly James, Penguin Group Dutton, and NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

Although I didn’t vibe with this book to the level I have with her past books this is still a wonderful book that I enjoyed. It lives up the concept which I consider an accomplishment with how alluring the premise is. It has forced proximity, insane chemistry, lots of funny moments, and all the drama you’d want from a reality tv show.
