I normally am not that psyched about romances that are too gimmicky- I feel like the elaborate plot takes away from character growth, and it can be cringey to watch unfold. This was not the case with Name Your Price- it was such a pleasant surprise! Both Chuck and Olivia were well-developed, likable characters. I do wish the author had focused a little less on Chuck’s strict diet, though, because I found it extremely irritating. Get over it, buddy. I liked the resolution of the story, though it veered toward the overly dramatic- just shy of too much. It was sweet and it made me laugh out loud. What more can you want? Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the e-arc.
Name Your Price is a bit complicated. When Chuck and Olivia go viral after they break up publicly, things get interesting when they're offered the chance to win a million dollars if they can live together for a month. Like any good game show, there are twists and turns along the way. Challenge aside, there are some deep topics covered in this book...Hollywood scandals, paparazzi, shame, dishonesty. I wouldn't call it a light book, but it's a good read.
Could you endure living with your ex on a reality show for a chance to win a million dollars?! The forced proximity premise was unique and the extra challenges were cute and funny. You could feel their chemistry jumping off the page. This was a super cute and entertaining read!
Thank you to Penguin Group Dutton and NetGalley for the e-ARC in exchange for my honest, unbiased review!
I enjoyed this cute romance. The chemistry was there, the romance was there. It was a cute story. Thanks to the publisher for the review copy, all opinions are my own
A super interesting premise! The banter was cute and I enjoyed the idea, I’m not sure the characters had enough growth for their backstory to really make this relationship a long term thing, but that’s my cynical side showing. A fun little read! Thank you so much for the ARC!
Wow! The premise of this book! Would you take a million dollars to stay/get back with your ex? (He’s not abusive or anything) Welp. Olivia and chuck try it. There are so many tropes I love in this and was introduced to such as TV reality rom com and he loved her first which is a new and trend lately! Second chances is an all around house favorite! Forced proximity & witty banter definitely for the win! I really want to say thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for this opportunity!!! Great debut!
Holly James doesn't disappoint! I really enjoyed this book. The chemistry between out main characters is undeniable and watching them rekindle their love for one another was swoon-worthy! This story leans in to the importance of communicating with your partner through the best of times to the hardest.

I really enjoyed this rom-com of a book! The banter was enjoyable and the relationship was relatable. It was not predictable in the sense that any romance books usually are, and I really appreciated the plot twists. Highly recommend for a feel good love story with a happy ending if you want to be in your feels!
A cute, lighthearted, summer read. While I liked the premise of the book and it was relatively well-executed, I'm not sure I saw enough change in the characters to believe that the ending will be anything different than the couple's historical pattern. Thank you to the Netgalley and Penguin Group Dutton for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
this was a cute and lighthearted read! i really enjoyed getting to know both characters, and the side characters were just as fun too. it was an intriguing concept of going on a reality tv/game show and it was executed really well! i could see it playing out in my head and the drama between chuck and olivia was funny at times! you can feel the chemistry between both main characters and seeing how all their problems unfold as they’re living together in forced proximity!
thank you to the author, netgalley, and penguin group dutton for giving me an opportunity to an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
Name Your Price is such a fun and unique premise for a book! I loved the idea of exs having to have forced proximity, especially without being able to touch each other.
The beginning of the book, with their very public breakup, immediately had me hooked into seeing what kind of fun we would be reading about in the competition. The first 30% of the book was so fun, I loved seeing Olivia’s spicy side when it came to her dealing with Chuck.
However, the competition and the relationship ended up falling pretty short for me. I ended up being more interested in the story behind Olivia’s parents, instead of wanting to see the relationship between her and Chuck.
The sweet moments that pop up warmed my heart but there just wasn’t enough to keep me interested in seeing them end up together in a romance relationship. I just kept seeing them as friends, instead of something deeper.
I definitely can tell there are going to be some romcom readers out there that are going to love this book, but it’s not quite there for me.
Deeply obsessed with the way Holly took the game show trope and added forced proximity. The characters are extremely E2L and it feels earned- like they hate each other for a reason. I really appreciate the care and attention given to her relationship to fame and her famous parents and their affair. Everything rang true.
This was a fun second chance romance with a realty TV twist. I wasn’t sure about the coupling, but the writer does a great job fleshing out their backstories and really getting for you to root for them to get back together. The subplots were really interesting too.
I received an ARC from netgalley and the publisher.
'Name Your Price' isn't my kind of book. I still enjoyed it, I just didn't think much of it if I'm being honest.
I had high hopes for this book bc I love Holly James stories but this one started out pretty slow for me and normally her books capture me from the start. Over all I think it’s a cute story and a good summer time read but not my favorite!
Name Your Price had such a fun and different concept, and I loved it! I’m grateful I got an arc of this one.
The premise of living with your ex for a chance to win a million dollars was so refreshing, and the characters are so easy to love!
Name Your Price by Holly James promises a tantalizing premise but falls flat in execution. While the tension between Olivia and Chuck is palpable, it's overshadowed by their incessant bickering and shallow interactions. The characters lack depth, making it difficult to empathize or root for them. The plot feels contrived, with little substance beyond the central conflict. Despite the potential for drama and intrigue, the story fails to deliver anything beyond superficial entertainment. Overall, Name Your Price left me wanting more from both its characters and its narrative depth.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you to Penguin Group Dutton and NetGalley for an eARC copy of Name Your Price by Holly James.
Name Your Price by Holly James is a romantic comedy that certainly serves up some sizzling chemistry and a two person Big Brother situation.
Olivia Martin and Chuck Walsh are the epitome of an explosive couple, their interactions oscillating between fiery passion and heated arguments. After a particularly public break up, their tumultuous relationship takes an unexpected turn when a video of their altercation goes viral, catching the attention of the reality game show, Name Your Price.
Thrown into an unconventional challenge, Olivia and Chuck find themselves locked in a house together for a month, with the promise of a million-dollar prize if they can endure the close quarters and resist their undeniable attraction. As they navigate the game's rules, which include a ban on physical contact, the sparks fly and the tension reaches a fever pitch.
I was rather excited when I saw that Holly James was coming out with another rom-com novel. I loved The Deja Glitch for its humor and fast paced story line, which is what I also expected with Name Your Price. After all, wouldn't Name Your Price actually be a catchy reality show? It was certainly a fast read, though it took me a little longer than I thought it would. The story was also, underwhelming? There was this huge build up around their break-up and the show starting, but it felt flat after the first three chapters. Olivia, for me, wasn't likable and she was the primary source of issues in that relationship and she never really got any better. I am a bit disappointed as I loved The Deja Glitch so much.

Olivia and Chuck have been in love.. with their sex, because otherwise, they are just too toxic for their own good. They fight about chores, dates, and even about sex. When they break-up, and it becomes viral, both are submitted an opportunity to be on a TV show for 30 day for 1 million dollars. Is it worth being stuck with no wifi and having to deal with one another after a horrible breakup? Is the money really worth what Olivia thinks it is or will she find herself falling for her ex all over again?

Holly really surprised me with how much i enjoyed the banter in this book. I would love to read more into the aftermath of the two, hint hint. The relationship between Olivia’s past and how Chuck handles current affairs astounds me and honestly threw me for a spin as i did not expect it. I really enjoyed this story and will look forward to more off the authors work!!
I really enjoyed this story. The concept is very original and yet very current which helps you get sucked into the story. I loved the characters and I hope to read more by Holly James.
