thank you netgalley for gifting me this arc in exchange for a review. i just finished this and it's 1am, if that tells you anything about my thoughts on this book. it was completely addicting from the first line. the writing was refreshing and the plot was so different from anything id ever read. i really enjoyed the banter, and it was a new setting for me. i honestly wasn't too sure how the reality show plot line would hit for me but i really enjoyed it. the forced proximity was so good and i simply couldn't put the book down from the first chapter (i didn't even realize how long they were until the end of the book). i loved charlie (i refuse to call him chuck. my only complaint about this book was his name), he was such a sweet loveable character that i loved getting to know. olivia was someone i heavily related to and also loved meeting. i highly recommend if you're looking for something light hearted that still has characters with depth and personality.
I enjoyed this book a lot. It's a fast paced read-in-one-day book. It was really funny. I really enjoyed the characters also! I just hope that they continue to communicate.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc in exchange for an honest review!
Name Your Price was a witty, fun read - hard to put down! A binge-able read that explores all of the emotions as Chuck and Olivia find their path to each other.
I absolutely enjoyed this book & recommend it to all lovers of a great HEA.
Deducting one star only because if this couple had one actual conversation in their entire relationship, they could have avoided…. Everything?? But overall, super cute - had me giggling and kicking my feet over here.
A nice romcom palate cleanser after all the thrillers, mysteries and dramas I’ve been reading. I really felt the chemistry between these two characters. It never felt forced to me at all.
This book was so good!! i loved the tension and tenderness between Olivia and Chuck but also the drama of reality tv. all the side characters are so fun and sweet like mansi and ruby and tyler. Such a good bingeable book with great writing! the name your price concept is already so great but the whole Astrid Larsson story had me so intrigued!! loved the ending too :)
Name Your Price by Holly James has plenty of hijinks and a lot of heart, and I really enjoyed it all! The story was a little slow to get started, but once it got going, I was fully hooked and rooting for the couple. I thought the plot was unique and well executed. It had just the right amount of charm, conflict, fun, and lovable characters.
This was a fun, different twist on the Hollywood romance genre. It was an enjoyable read; I liked both main characters and their side stories, as well as the obvious chemistry and love story. The Name Your Price show seemed like the perfect mix between Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Too Hot to Handle, and True Life, which is honestly a genre that reality TV really should consider pursuing. I just would have liked a little more to each part of the story—I felt Iike Olivia’s backstory, Chuck’s work story, and their time in the house/on Name Your Price could have all deserved a few more chapters.
Thank you NetGalley and the Publishers for letting me read this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. Name Your Price by Holly James is a cute second chance romantic comedy novel that got me out of my reading slump. There was great chemistry between Olivia Martin and Chuck Walsh along with their tension with one another. I adored this love story that had my attention from the very first chapter. My favorite part of this book was how both characters went through obstacles and how they came out of their difficult times for the better.
Thanks to Netgalley, Dutton/Penguin, and the author for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Solid romance. What I like best was the author didn’t go the obvious romance route with the climax. I appreciated the twist. Also, for as sexually charged as the couple was, this was not a smutty book at all. Would consider it closed door (or maybe a little cracked open).
This was a very bingeable and fast-paced read, it might have gotten me out of a read slump?
The chemistry and the banter between the MCs were so good, the author has done a great job of writing in their relationship without explicitly showing the reader their exact past wrt their relationship beginning and developement. I was pretty much in the headspace of the MC right from the first page.
I was legit crying at the third act conflict + the follow-up stuff 😭
The resolution and the hea were so cute! And so well-deserved!
TWs - sexual harassment in the workplace (secondary character), cheating, misinformation and harassment by the press
-- ty to the author, the publisher and Netgalley for an advanced copy!
This book was such a cute and fun read! I immediately was absorbed into the world and Olivia was such a fun main character! I loved the tension and love that these characters have for each other. All of the silly little situations they get into make this book so bingeable (I literally read it in one sitting). I highly recommend reading this book (especially if you like watching people try to fit into a pantry just for some alone time). A really fun read and I’m so excited to look at more books but this author!
2.5 stars. I love this cover and thought the idea sounded so fun, but unfortunately the execution didn’t really plan out for me. Chuck and Olivia definitely had physical chemistry but I wasn’t super attached to them or their relationship, and some parts felt rushed. I didn’t really care at all about the side storyline of Olivia’s family, which was a pretty big plot point. Some aspects of the game show annoyed me and took me out of the romance a bit.
Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Group Dutton for the chance to read this.
I want to start off: I first experienced Holly James with Deja Glitch and LOVED it. It was such a unique story with great dialogue and B story.
Name Your Price is a complete knockout.
This story follows Olivia, a writer, and Chuck, an up and coming actor, as they navigate their fiery relationship and consider breaking up for good. They luckily (or maybe unluckily) are given the opportunity to compete for a million dollars; if they can stand to be in close proximity for one month straight. This rom-com has some of my favorite tropes (second chance romance) but also uses one of my least favorite (close proximity) and absolutely hits it out of the park. Their relationship sizzles off the page despite being at best PG-13 for nearly 3/4 of the story.
James' shines here with dialogue, banter, and most importantly facial expressions. Chuck and Olivia are pure perfection, their dialogue is snappy and completely engrossing, and you are completely engrossed in their chemistry even when the only thing happening is a jaw tick. It's that good.
The B story lines, about Hollywood and the expression of love and abandonment are really well done as well. It was just so well balanced. The steamy scenes, when they do finally happen, are pretty much perfection.
Adored. Simply adored.
Attention lovers of You Deserve Each Other (Sarah Hogle) I present to you this GLORIOUS novel. I dove into this tale without really reading the blurb and was instantly captivated by this author’s artistry. She is AMAZING. I read this in one sitting.
You are thrown into the midst of a glorious argument between the main couple. Why glorious? Because it’s fiery, it’s feisty, it’s fueled by incredible chemistry. Olivia and Chuck are a couple who has recently broken up. However, their argument this time goes viral and they wind up agreeing to take part in a reality television show where they are placed into close proximity with no internet and essentially forced to interact and communicate with one another.
It’s a delicious predicament and I was thoroughly entertained by all the tasks and challenges they encountered. However, I really appreciated how the television show wasn’t a magic bandaid for their problems. Olivia a strong inspiring independent woman and yet she is not perfect. Chuck is this warm caring selfless individual who also is not entirely perfect. And yet they’re perfect for each other. It was honestly beautiful watching these two fall in love with one another again and more importantly learn how to navigate their flaws and differences to still choose one another. It’s poignant. It’s heart wrenching. And it’s so real.
I adored this book and cannot properly applaud the author. Mark my words — this book will be big. I will be looking into reading her other two works in the meantime. ;)
Thank you NetGalley and Penguin Group DUTTON Publishing Group for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
If you love reality tv. You will love this book. This setting was so good. It was great for this time of the year. When I want to be somewhere warm.
Oh, literary lord, just blessed me with this pant-melting, highly entertaining, unputdownable romcom—a breath of fresh air after devouring so many thrillers that gave me headaches with too many twists. Olivia and Chuck (even though that name always reminds me of Blair Waldorf’s antihero soul twin Chuck Bass) are a combustible couple that sets entire chapters on fire! Their chemistry is explosive, hyperventilating, and hot as hell! Their banter is witty and guffaw-worthy.
Can you imagine a couple who can't keep their hands off each other, agreeing to spend one month together without tearing each other's clothes off or touching? Enter Olivia Martin, the scandalous child of an illegal relationship between Hollywood legends. Raised by her grandmother, she becomes an aspiring writer buried in debts. The only solution to pay for her grandmother’s care is accepting an offer from producers inspired by a viral video featuring a screaming match with her ex, Chuck. The producers believe their chemistry is palpable and are ready to exploit their viral fame for a special TV show concept.
Enter Chuck (Charles) Walsh, whose reputation is tarnished after a quarrel with an A-list director. Becoming persona non grata in Hollywood, he aims to fix his broken career path by accepting the offer to live with his ex. This way, he can still attract producers' attention and have enough funds to fix things in his life. However, his secret agenda is also fixing things with Olivia, who is adored by his family.
Can these volatile, impulsive people endure the pressure without ending up in bed? The challenges are high, especially when unresolved feelings are on the fence.
I loved this book, giving it my five high-chemistry stars! I highly recommend you go in blind and read it!
Many thanks to NetGalley and PENGUIN GROUP DUTTON for sharing this amazing book’s digital reviewer copy with me in exchange for my honest review.
