Two for effort? This story just did not work for me as it was too wordy and imo, took too long to do anything honestly; from the characters to the plot. Everything about Blood on the Water was lackluster.
Loving the pirate and fantasy series Roberts is diving into. I absolutely loved the first book, and while this book, the second, was great, it just wasn't as good as the first. I love the connections being made book by book with the characters. It's a nice fluff(ish) easy read romance. Also, who doesn't love girls?
Disclaimer: I received an ARC of this from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
Blood on the Water was another fun Katee Robert read. really enjoyed the inclusion of interesting new characters, like meeting a Selkie. I think patrons will love it even more than I did, and we will definitely be purchasing multiple copies.
Oh this book was so fun! I have not read the first book i the series but I will go back to it.
I loved Lizzie and Maeve. I loved the good paranormal romance with Vamps and other creatures. Love the feature of Selkie in this, as its been a while since I read a Selkie book.
The book was awesome, I was rooting for both girls. Loved Lizzies "touch her and die vibes"
Solid 4 starts from me.
Blood on the Tide is the second book in the Crimson Sails series by Katee Robert. It follows Lizzie ( a vampire) and Maeve ( A selkie) as they travel from island to island to find what they have lost. Lizzie is in search of her family jewels that Evelyn, her past lover had stolen and Meave who has lost her selkie coat. Lizzie and Mave have made a pact to help each other find what they had lost. This book is full of otherworldly creatures, action, and of course with all of Katee Robert books steamy romance. If you haven't read The Court of the Vampire Queen you may want to. Lizzie's thinks a lot of her family especially Wolf her brother and his "family".
Katee’s ability to weave an actual, exciting storyline in with these steamy scenes is impeccable.
In Blood on the Tide you’ll get:
-Vampire bites 🔥
-Pirate-ish adventure
-Forced proximity
-f/f romance
-plus size rep
This is the second book in this series. Lizzie is due for some redemption. Lizzie and Maeve’s chemistry is off the charts. Falling into lust/love while neither of them are looking for it. Lizzie is a “bloodline” vamp with a sizzling bite who is searching for her family heirlooms, Maeve is a selkie who is looking for her skin, and the two together = a hot adventure.
I would also love to commend Katee for the representation throughout all of her series. There is something relatable for all to be found somewhere.
Thank you Katee Robert, NetGalley and Berkley for the ARC!
I think if you enjoyed the first one, you will love this one!
I really enjoy the ease of Katee's world and characters.
I enjoyed this book a lot!
And how often do you get a vampire/selke combo in books!
I think i liked this one more than the first one!
OMG I loved this book!! I find myself seeking out more sapphic romance, and this book is just top notch storytelling and SPICE. I truly do not think Katee can go wrong at this point, her books are well-plotted, well-written, and just so fun to read and enjoy. Cannot give it enough praise!
My favorite tropes from this book:
F/F Fantasy Romance
Set on the seas
Plus size representation
Forced Proximity
Orgasmic Vampire Bites 🤩
This is the second book in the series and J recommend reading the first one before reading this. The background information of the characters makes it a more entertaining experience.
One of my favorite things about Katee Robert’s books is that she integrates her storylines and characters so much so that everything is interconnected. Lizzie’s story was something I’d highly anticipated after Hunt on Dark Waters. Lizzie and Maeve were great together.
I also loved Maeve’s selkie body representation. She was so beautiful and cute and I loved her so much and how she has complete confidence in her body. Lizzie was a really strong leading character, and I really liked being in her head instead of being in anyone else’s. I liked being on her side after the first book. She’s hot. The book was hot. Lizzie and Maeve together are hot.
Thank you to Berkeley and NetGalley for the ARC!
What can I say about Katee that I haven’t said before. Love everything about this book. Maeve and Lizzie are characters that will have you hooked. The spice is off the charts. Definitely a book you need to read if you love pirates, sirens and vamps.
I enjoyed Blood on the Tide, though it did take me a bit to warm up to Lizzie. I think that is what made it har to get into this book. it was full of action, but the romance was lacking for me
It’s about vampires, it’s sapphic and it’s Katee Robert. I knew what I was getting into when I started this series. I love books that are about pirates or sirens, so the fact that it’s vampires too, was a bonus. This book was spicy and entertaining (like all of Katee Robert’s books honestly.) Not the most mind blowing fantasy, but definitely easy to follow and worth the read if you like her writing. I’m a fan. I would recommend this to the right audience. 4 ⭐️ book for me.
Anything this woman writes is steamy and perfect, this is no different! The fact that it was sapphic, just aw it all the better 😍 katee Robert can do absolutely no wrong in my eyes but this is up there with one of my faves from her!
Thank you to Berkley for this eARC! Katee Robert Vampire Selkie Sapphic Pirates.....need I say more? Lizzie and Maeve are two strong leads that balance each other so well. This book has wit and charm and action and SPICE and romance and communication. It hits every single checkmark of a remarkable magical Katee Robert experience. I'm so excited for the continuation of this Threshold series and the implications of having a world that has portals to other places could mean for the rest of the Katee Robert universe!
I've read a handful of Katee Robert books so I was really excited when I got sent and ARC of her newest book! As always, it totally slayed (I hate that I wrote that in a review but whatever). I haven't read the first in the series, but I think it works well enough as a standalone if you want it to be. The worldbuilding is pretty clear and the tension is very very entertaining. Overall, it was a fun read and another great addition to my Katee Robert shelf!
Thank you to NetGalley, Katee Roberts (my queen), and Berkley publishing for this awesome advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review…. When I tell you I ATE THIS UP and could not put it down until I finished it!! I didn’t just devour this book, it also devoured me😫🫶🏼 I will read anything Katee writes and Berkley publishes.

3.5 stars
I really enjoyed the first book in this series, but this one fell a little flat for me. I think the issue is that Lizzie has been a “bad guy” in the other books she’s been in, and her falling in love with Maeve just didn’t feel really true to me. Their relationship left me a bit cold honestly. Maeve herself is fairly great.
The other thing that worked for me in the first book was that we had a whole cast of characters, but in this book, we’re pretty isolated to Maeve and Lizzie. And since I’m meh on Lizzie, I didn’t have as much fun with this installment.
I’ll definitely keep reading though! Gotta see what those rebels get up to!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the preview. All opinions are my own.
So good! I love Katee Robert books and this one delivers! This is such a fun series, looking forward to the next one.
