I loved this book. You always know what to expect with this author. They do a great job with the dual pov and I like the real life aspect with the father ๐ง
Christina Lauren is here for a SUMMER BLOCKBUSTER.
It is no secret that this author duo knows how to write a hilarious romp of a time filled with banter (and a bit of spice), but The Paradise Problem just might be there best yet.
This novel is for fans of The Unhoneymooners, but make it about a wealthy family traveling for a destination wedding. But that's not all. At the center of the plot are two characters from different backgrounds that were once married...but now they must fake being in love with some high stakes.
The Paradise Problem hooked me so good. From the first page, I was actually cackling and scaring my children with my rowdy laughter. The humor and banter were pitch-perfect between the two characters, but what I loved most was the emotion wrapped into an extremely fun plot. This book has so much to offer and should be at the top of everyone's summer reading list. I really loved how the main characters stuck true to who they are yet found ways to grow together. It was romantic and light all at once. I dare say...it is a reread kind of book, too!
Thank you Gallery books for my gifted copy.
I loved The Paradise Problem! I havenโt read a book in awhile that made me want to just keep turning the pages like this did. The humor, the chemistry, the drama! Really enjoyed the character arcs and the beautiful setting!
Christina Lauren is one of my favorite authors and this book is what I have come to hope for from them! Loved!
I don't love the fake dating trope, but I do love everything Christina (and) Lauren write, so I was all in for this and it did not disappoint. Anna Green is lovely and it's impossible not to cheer for her. I wasn't won over as quickly by Liam West, but by the end, I loved him too. There are few other relatable characters, but mostly because we don't get a chance to get to know the rest of them very well. I didn't love the ending, since the last chapter just felt like a fast forward synopsis, but it was gratifying to see how everything ended up for each character.
Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for an ARC of this novel.

The summary and the cover made me think this would be a fun beachy read. In fact, I regret not reading it while I was on my beach vacation a few months back. It's a different twist on the marriage-of-convenience trope. And while it's fun, light it is not.
The Weston family is very much the Roy family (of Succession). They're uber-rich and a hot box of crazy. I like that they all had a specific terrible trait instead of a generic patina of icky-rich-people-ness. Ray is an emotionally abusive, manipulative d-bag. Janet is a passive-aggressive nightmare. Alex is a sniveling, obsequious toad who deserves to be fed to sharks. Jake turns everything into a joke. Charlie just turns away.
I like Anna. I almost took issue with her being a struggling artist until I realized she isn't struggling because she's an artist. I adored that she stayed so true to herself the entire time and how much she helped Liam sort through the crapstorm that is his family. Plus, she was quite funny at times!
The reason I didn't rate this higher is because it's missing a spark. I enjoyed Anna, I felt for Liam, but I wasn't in love with the portion of their story that we saw. Once they got to the island, it started to feel repetitive (I suppose that's the danger of a single setting). Also, I unintentionally stopped reading for a day -- too much work to do -- and found that I didn't miss them. I wanted to know how their story ended because I'd made it so far into it but I wasn't as invested as I thought.
It's good and it's enjoyable but it isn't my favorite Christina Lauren. That said, I still recommend it! It's a fun read!
This was such a fun marriage of convience trope! I feel like itโs so hard to write this trope in modern terms, but Christina Lauren did a phenomenal job. It was funny, romantic, and yet still made room to tackle more serious issues that come with a toxic family environment and business practices. The main characters were each othersโ perfect foils. And the setting was perfect.
The Paradies Problem is a heartwarming and witty romance that deftly explores the complexities of love, ambition, and societal expectations. The story revolves around Anna, a spirited artist, and West, a Stanford professor and reluctant heir to a vast family fortune. What begins as a convenient marriage for subsidized housing soon morphs into a tangled web of emotions and societal pressures. I loved this perfect summer novel!
Thank you, NetGalley, for an advanced copy of this book!
Iโm not sure why I waited so long to read this because it was PERFECT. The pacing, the angst. Wow! Will be reading again with my book club!
Solid 4.5 โญ๏ธ
The setting - dreamy.
Liam + Anna - so swoonworthy.
The tension - TOP TIER.
The plot - excellent.
The writing - immersive.
I loved it. The only reason itโs not a 5โญ๏ธ for me is because I specifically reserve that for books that evoke deep feelings while reading. But, this is seriously SO GOOD! Even my abhorrence for the 3rd act breakup is uncharacteristically nonexistent because it was so perfectly written for the context of the story. The epilogue is long (which I totally appreciated and believe to be underutilized, generally) and wonderful because it so beautifully wraps up the story.
Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for a copy in exchange for an honest review. I definitely also bought a hard copy to keep on my shelf. ๐
Iโm so excited to participate in BookSparks 2024 Summer Reading Challenge - Game, Set, Read! The first book Iโm featuring is the newest release from my favorite author duo - The Paradise Problem, by Christina Lauren! Thank you @booksparks and @christinalauren for the #giftedbook and box of super cute goodies!
I loved everything about this book - fake relationship, opposites attract, grumpy sunshine, one bed, plenty of chemistry between the two MCs. I devoured it in just a couple of days, and I seriously didnโt want it to end!
Anna thought she married Liam so they could get married couple housing in college. Once they moved out, she thought sheโd never see him again. Fast forward a few years, and Liam shows up on Annaโs doorstep needing a big favor from her. Not only are they still married, but in order for Liam to have access to his huge inheritance, they need to be married for five years, AND his family is starting to question their relationship - so he needs to bring her to his sisterโs fancy schmancy wedding on a private island in Indonesia, where theyโll need to convince everyone theyโve been living in marital bliss for the past almost five years.
Also, Liamโs dad is a complete asshat, and wants Liam to take over the company, which Liam has no interest in actually doing. But his dad is used to getting what he wants, and will do whatever it takes to get it, including throwing his kids under the bus and blackmailing the crap out of them.
Yup, itโs as amazing as it sounds. This is a perfect summer read for the beach, pool, couch, whatever your jam might be these days.
Now, to wait a whole year for their next book. Sighโฆ
I have read almost all of Christina Lauren's backlist, and I absolutely fall more in love with their writing with each novel. These two are SO good together, and I couldn't imagine a more perfect beach read for the summer!
I always love reading Christina Lauren and this did not disappoint. I always love a good old fashioned 'opposites attract' moment. This was an enjoyable slow burn with some good humor. The two main characters felt like old friends -- like I'd met these exact people before. Anna was full of sass and wit, Liam was someone who slowly unfurled his shell to reveal a great guy. I always enjoy dual-point-of-view books, especially those that are done well and allow the reader to see two completely different minds. Admittedly the plot felt a little bit familiar as well, but the story itself was one to love deeply.
A perfect beach read from the queens of romance ! Nobody writes a rom com like Christina Lauren ๐ Swoon worthy romance, characters you canโt help but root for and a brilliant summery setting! What more could we need. Us readers are spoiled that Christina & Lauren keep sending us these wonderful stories ๐โค๏ธ
Iโm sure itโs no surprise when I say Christina Lauren have done it again and The Paradise Problem is an absolute must read for the summer! Oh, how I needed this book to binge and put a smile on my face while giving me all the warm and fuzzies after a truly horrendous week!

EVERYTHING!! I truly could not get enough of everything in this book! However, if I had to really narrow it down, I found myself cheering for Anna and Westโs budding romance and hoping karma would come after Westโs father. So, basically finding myself emotionally attached to every aspect of this story.

It was everything I love in a fake marriage story! And oh how I could not get enough of the sexual tension and frustration as it slowly built up and eventually exploded! I also loved how the relationship between Anna and West grew and evolved as they delt with Westโs truly horrific family. Their united front against his parents made the romance so much more engaging and went along with their unique match-up and personalities.

I love it when there are two narrators for a dual POV romcom and Patti Murin and Jon Root knocked it out of the park. You could just feel the emotions from each character as you experienced the story through them!

Now this is the Christina Lauren that I know and love. Everything from the cover to the story within were fantastic. The characters were well done too. I flew through the pages. Would definitely recommend.

Wow ๐คฉ I was totally surprised by how much I loved this one!! I saw some mixed reviews before picking it up, but Iโm glad I didnโt let those reviews steer me away! This was the perfect book to read outside this weekend in the beautiful weather ๐๐ผ
๐๐ผ: I love how every Christina Lauren book you read is completely unique! This story was such a wild ride focusing on West (Liam) & Anna, who are in a marriage of convenience and basically strangers, but have to attend his sisters wedding with his crazy rich family while also pretending to still be married & in love until they reach their 5-year anniversary to receive an insane inheritance! ๐ As wild as this plot sounds, it was so fun & fast paced. I loved the instant connection between Liam & Anna, the slow burn romance, the luxury island vacation setting, the family drama & the stream!! I couldnโt put it down! I can see this being a perfect summer or beach read for many this year ๐ I could also picture this perfectly as a movie!!
๐๐ผ: The epilogue felt a little long & drawn out in my opinion, even though I appreciated having more information than less about how everything unraveled! There were also some super un-likable characters that may not have gotten all they deserved ๐ thatโs all Iโll say!
Overall, I really enjoyed this one! It was super fun & I definitely recommend picking it up, especially as the weather warms & youโre looking for a tropical island romance with some family drama too! Thanks @bookofthemonth for the gifted copy this month!

I absolutely love this cover. It definitely convinced me to read the book. The first half was a fun escapist read that felt like a mash up of Pretty Woman and The Proposal, both movies I love. Even though I have read this author duo in the past, I was not prepared for the graphic nature of the intimate scenes. I felt like the story lost some momentum in the second half. But overall, a fun summer beach read!
I love Christina Laurenโs books because I know I can count on them to deliver all the laughs, an engaging story line, and a steamy romance. They deliver all of that and more in their latest novel, The Paradise Problem.
When we first meet Anna and Liam, they appear to be splitting up. Belongings are packed up, divorce papers are signed, and Liam is clearly moving out. Well, all is not as it seems. Anna and Liam were never actually a couple, but instead entered into a marriage of convenience so that they could move into less expensive housing while in college. As they finish up school, they split up and go their separate ways. That is, until Liam shows up three years later and informs Anna that not only did he never file the divorce papers, but he needs her to pretend to be his wife a few months longer and travel with him to a destination wedding in Singapore. Why? Because itโs the only way he can secure his sizable inheritance, which has been placed in a trust fund with lots of conditions, including that he be married for at least five years.
Anna, shocked at this news but in need of cash, agrees to the charade when Liam offers to pay her. They head off to Singapore and Anna cannot even believe how dysfunctional Liamโs family is. The more she gets to know Liam, the more she understands why he avoids them as much as possible. Heโs such a sweet and decent guy, the polar opposite of his father.
I loved how Anna stood up to them over and over again, and how the worse they behave, the more she and Liam turned to each other. There are definitely plenty of laughs and romantic moments to offset the drama and tension that surrounds Liamโs toxic family, but I really appreciated the balance between the dramatic, the steamy, and the humorous, and was rooting for Liam and Anna every step of the way.
I binged this book in just a couple of sittings and was entertained from start to finish & thoroughly satisfied with how the story is wrapped up.
I absolutely loved this book! I read it on vacation at the pool and there couldnt be a better book for that! I will definitely be recommending this book to my followers.
5 stars
Delightfully trope-y in the best way. I got such a sense of the place and the big cast of family members, but the best part was the sexual tension between the two main characters and the way the authors played with it but didnโt drag it out while checking off all the common tropes.. I bought into the heightened romance easily.
