This book was everything I’ve come to expect from Christina Lauren. Thank you NetGalley for access to this early read.
I gave this 4.5 stars! I just loved it! The banter was fantastic, the story line was perfect, the romance was swoon worthy. A college professor who comes from money and a pink haired starving artist who comes from nothing married for college housing but turns into so much more. Is money really worth it........ Makes you take a step back and just want to enjoy life.
Thank you for approving me to read this arc! It was a fun and quick read. It truly reminded me of the Pretty Women movie but on a tropical island. I enjoyed the heroine Anna, but the other characters were hard to like. The themes this book covers is marriage by convenience, inheritance issues, and family problems. I did not except the very spicy scenes and they may be off-putting for some.
📚 ARC REVIEW 📚 The Paradise Problem by Christina Lauren
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

No spoilers but I went into this one totally blind and really ended up enjoying that. Skip "The Gist" if you want to go in blind as well.
THE GIST:
Anna, a literal starving artist, left med school at UCLA to pursue her dream but not before agreeing to marry her friends brother for cheap subsidized housing.
West, heir to his family's business and fortune, wants only to leave college with the skills to get away from the life planned for him, and maybe a wife.
Fast forward nearly 5 years to West's sisters wedding. His family is dying to finally meet his elusive wife at the big day, the only problem is, Anna doesn't even know they're still married.
Anna's not in a financial place to be gallivanting all over the world but maybe he can make this crazy arrangement beneficial for both of them.
THOUGHTS AND THINGS:
Christina Lauren does it again! They are experts at writing the swooniest, most fun rom-coms!
I loved Anna and her quirky, blunt personality. She was so easy to like and I was constantly rooting for her. West is intelligent and successful but mostly the more I got to know him the more I could see that everything he did was because he cared.
They're slow burn romance was the swooniest and had me melting.
The setting was beautiful and I felt like I was immersed in a private island vacation. Every moment of the over-the-top festivities felt believable and true to the families personalities. I loved some of the sweet side characters and loved to hate so many others.
It was such an easy book to get sucked into and has me looking forward to reading more Christina Lauren books this summer!
I highly recommend this bingeable, fun, summer read!

In The Paradise Problem, we meet Anna Green and Liam Weston, two individuals who married for convenience - an access to subsidized family housing in UCLA. Anna thought she signed divorce paper after graduation, and they went their separate ways. Three years later, she's a starving artist, while Liam is professor at Stanford. He's also one of heirs to the Weston Food conglomerate. While he has no interest working for the family business, he is interested in the billion-dollar inheritance. The catch? He has to be happily married for five years. And so, he seeks out to find his not-so-ex-wife for help.
When I discovered Christina Lauren back when I picked up reading again, I made it my goal to read every book they wrote. But to be honest, it's been a while since I read their work (I'm a few books behind, lol). This was a good reminder why I always enjoyed Christina Lauren romances.
Married only on paper, Anna and Liam are basically strangers so pretending couldn't be easy. Not that they really needed to pretend when they already have undeniable chemistry. The attraction and tension is there even before they arrive on the private island. Liam might not have expected it, but Anna is his ride-or-die, a support system he didn't know he needed. Expect banter, laughs, and lots of family drama.
This is a great beach vacation read!
If Christina Lauren isn’t on your auto buy list of authors, The Paradise Problem will be the one to convince you she should be. Hear me out - Christina Lauren does no wrong. What an amazing storyteller. The characters, witty banter, fake marriage, dual POV- this book is literal perfection. I can not recommend it enough!!! I would give it 6 stars if I could!!
Thank you NetGalley & Gallery Books for the ARC copy of this book.

I have yet to meet a book by Christina Lauren that doesn't completely sweep me away in witty banter and swoon worthy moments. The Paradise Problem is no exception. The story follows Anna Green and Liam Weston as they embark on a marriage of convenience journey to his sister's wedding on a private island. Here they need to pull off their fake relationship in order for Liam to gain access to his millions of dollars of inheritance. There's tons of drama and entertaining side characters all in the picturesque setting of Indonesia.
The story had me laughing and gushing through the entire book. Liam has moved his way to the top of my book boyfriend list. Both main characters had so many relatable qualities. I loved them both with all their quirks and faults. Add in the beachy, exotic location The Paradise Problem is set it, this feels like the perfect companion on vacation or poolside! I highly recommend this one!
Recently unemployed Anna Green finds herself facing an interesting offer. Liam “West” Weston needs her to convince his family that he’s been married to Anna for the past five years in order to receive his full inheritance and she’ll get a nice little payout too.
Christina Lauren have created undeniable chemistry between Liam and Anna before they even make it to the private island for Liam’s sister’s wedding. And then all of a sudden the spice drops in! Their playful and flirty interactions, the family tension/drama/verbal abuse, tropical imagery, and steamy scenes will have you turning pages and dreading the end of the book.
Always a sucker for a CL book. Going back to read their others and excited for the next.

I love Christina Lauren, and this book is no exception!
🌴Tropical setting
🌴Fake marriage
🌴Rich but kind MMC
🌴Quirky and down to earth FMC
🌴Tension and banter
🌴Dual POV
I loved this one! It would be a perfect beach/vacation read. Plus dual POV romance always hits different!!
Liam and Anna are such a great couple - I love it when opposites attract. This book is full of fun banter, laughter, and tension.
Anna was such a unique and strong character. She knows who she is and sticks to it, even in crazy situations. Liam is sensitive, considerate, and wants a life that is a lot different than his extremely wealthy family.
This book has some spice but isn’t overly spicy in my opinion!
I overall enjoyed this but wanted a little bit more! I still recommend, though. This is gonna be a big one this summer!
The Paradise Problem might be one of my favorite books so far this year! For me, this book joined the ranks of Love and Other Words. I absolutely loved every second of it!
I spent my rainy and gloomy spring break with Anna Green and Liam Weston as they traveled to paradise for his sister's wedding. They must convince Liam's horrifically rich family that they have been happily married for almost five years. Once married five years, Liam can collect a handsome trust fund left to him by his grandfather. However, his family will do anything to take Liam's happiness (and money) from him. Anna and Liam are characters you can't help but love, and you will love to hate his family.
I predict this to be the best beach read of the summer. Thank you NetGalley for an arc of this wonderful book.
Thank you to the authors and Gallery Books via NetGalley for the eARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This is Christina Lauren’s best book yet. I truly have no issue with it. I found both characters endearing and understandable. Their actions made sense. While the love story advances quickly, I thought it made sense given the situation. The stakes throughout the story were a little ridiculous, however I thought they weren’t out of the realm of possibility for an extremely rich family.
My only wish was that Anna and Liam did something for Thuy. Surely they could have helped her out a little?
I would recommend this to anyone who has loved Christina Lauren previously. I also think readers of Emily Henry would love this book! It’s a great love story with a “fake” marriage, grotesque displays of wealth and the appropriate disgust from a working class main character.
A very sweet good fun romance.
Love Anna and Liam
A really feel good romance read.
Voluntarily reviewed.
4 stars. I really enjoyed this book. See my review on Goodreads.

3 1/2 stars rounded up to 4
I am not a big romance reader, though I am continually sucked in by the gorgeous covers, especially the ones from Christina Lauren!!
The concept of The Paradise Problem is pretty outlandish. Anna and Liam ("West") get married as students so they can get access to subsidized family housing. They don't really know each other beforehand and despite living together, rarely see each other. The book kicks off with them getting divorced and saying goodbye to one another. The only problem? They aren't actually divorced and Liam actually married Anna for another reason... He needs to have been married for 5 years in order to access the trust fund his grandfather left him. By the time Anna learns this, it's almost been 5 years and Liam has returned to beg her to go to a family wedding on a private tropical island with him. Another problem? His family is ridiculously wealthy and obnoxious... Oh, and Liam told them Anna was a med student when she's actually now a painter who just got fired from a convenience store.
Sigh. That was a lot wasn't it? So yes, totally ridiculous concept, but if you're willing to just go with it, this book can be a lot of fun. The wedding is a week long affair that is all kinds of outlandish with lavish parties and outings every day. Liam's family is absolutely horrible and they will make your blood boil. There are LOTS of hot and steamy romance scenes in the book... maybe more than any other Christina Lauren book?
I appreciated a lot of the witty banter between Anna and Liam and the fact that the book felt very modern with some of the jokes they told and conversations they had. Anna is a great dynamic character.
I have admitted I'm not a big romance reader, but I think this one is more fun than most and I do feel like big romance readers are really going to enjoy it.
I loved this book. It may be their best book yet and I may say that all the time of Christina Lauren. I loved these characters, they were fun, sexy, flirty and just seemed like genuinely good people. People I want to be friends with in real life. The setting was beautiful, especially if you're in need of a warm weather vacation.
Perfect poolside read and exactly what I would expect from the authors. Enjoyed the paradise setting and growth of the main characters.
Loved it!! this story is so cute!!! I loved the chemistry that Anna and Liam had. Also Anna remaining being being so strong and Liam being so sweet as opposed to his family was so endearing to see in a man.
Such a fun CLo romp! Love the twist to the billionaire trope, love the luxe vacation, love the sweet artist trying to make it happen!
Loved the setting and dynamic family relationships and issues. I enjoyed the build up of character tension and the chapter perspective changes. I think some minor characters needed more exposure (like Jake).
This was a solid four star read! I found Anna very relatable and loved her relationship with Liam. There was definitely a bit of a pacing issue and I feel like the last third had a bit too much going on. Overall though it was enjoyable and one I’ll definitely recommend!
