Loved The Paradise Problem by Christina Lauren. It's a great romcom with a bit of spiciness. A good beach read for the summer, a good escape.
Thank you to NetGalley, Gallery Books & Christina Lauren for the digital ARC of The Paradise Problem in exchange for an honest review.
Christina Lauren is one of my favorite author duos! If they write it, I will read it. I don't need to read the synopsis. It could be a book about the mating rituals of gnats & I'd read it. Needless to say, I'm THRILLED to be providing an early review!
This story centers around Anna & Liam ("West") who married each out while in college out of convenience for housing. Anna met West through his brother, Jake. They were really only roommates & never actually romantically involved. Once they graduated, West left & Anna was under the impression they were divorced. West comes from an uber wealthy family who want his wife to attend his younger sister's wedding with him three years later, so West goes to Anna to beg her to attend with him as his wife, which she still is! Not divorced - due to the fact that West needs to have been married for 5 years to earn his inheritance! He will pay her $100k to do this for him. She agrees & is then thrown into the wolf's den that is the Weston family. Imagine the worst family you can think of & then multiply be 100 & you'll have the Westons. Anna adjusts quickly as she & West battle his family, while growing more & more attached to one another by the second. Then West gets faced with the ultimate dilemma - he literally has to choose between Anna (actually himself) or his family.
Snag this one up quick on May 14, 2024, to find out who West/Liam chooses & to fall as madly in love with this rom-com as I did!
If you're a Christina Lauren fan already, just go ahead and add this one to your shelf of all of their other books that you love so much because this one is just as good as all the others, if not better! It is definitely in my Top 3!
As is typical for these authors, this story is filled with a quirky & fun FMC & a dreamy MMC with his head on straight! There is a lot of humor with many LOL moments. Our FMC can also get a bit feisty, so don't be surprised if you ending doing a fist pump while shouting "You Go Girl!" As always, the spice level was perfection - not a porno, but not G-rated either! I really enjoyed the plot & storyline of this one. I can't think of a romance/rom-com that I've read that had a similar plot, so that was so refreshing!
Christina Lauren does it again with this cute romcom about a marriage of convenience and a little bit of a scam. Lots of sibling, rivalries, entitled parents, lots and lots of money, and a steamy, sexy, love story mixed in. The paradise setting is dreamy and the main characters, Anna and Liam, are almost the victims of a long con that turns into romance and passion.
Christian Lauren has done it again! Another 5 star read! This is a fake dating/marriage, forced proximity romance told in a way that will leave you loving both main characters, Liam and Anna. The character development is wonderful! With each page, Liam and Anna's romance blossoms and there are plenty of hot, steamy moments. Throw in both good and bad family dynamics, some societal statements on wealth, and once again I have a new favorite by this dynamite writing duo. If yu want the perfect summer, beach read, be sure to pick=up a copy! Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for allowing me early access to this wonderful book!
I think this may be my favorite Christina Lauren book yet! It had everything I love:
-Fake dating
-Friends to lovers
-Rich people behaving badly (like, really badly)
-A lush tropical setting
-A complex but loveable FMC
-A broken yet redeemable MMC
Liam and Anna got married in order to gain access to cheaper housing. They cohabitated while in school, two ships passing in the night. What Anna didn't know was that Liam was actually the heir to a billionaire grocery fortune. When he needs to bring his "wife" to a family wedding, Anna agrees--for a large payout. But once on the island, she realizes there's more to Liam than she thought.
The chemistry between Liam and Anna was amazing! I couldn't help but be sucked into their love story and I was so invested in how it would turn out. Both characters were really compelling, and I felt for both of them for very different reasons.
If you like Christina Lauren's other books, you'll want to check this one out!
Liam and Anna enter a marriage of convenience in college to live in family housing for cheap. Years after Anna thinks they are legally divorced, Liam shows up and offers to pay her to continue to pretend being his wife for a family wedding in order to get his parents off his back. They've been married for five years and she has yet to meet the family. The catch is no one can know they've faked their marriage otherwise Liam and his siblings could lose out on a very large inheritance.
Anna is quirky and lovable. Liam is good and lovable as well if not frustrating at times. I loved this book overall. I thought it was well paced and a quick read!
This was a glamorous and summery read that had a lot of heart and explored deeper topics than I was expecting. The story tackles greed, the family dynamics of growing up in a narcissistic parent household, and deconstructing what it means to love outside of all of it.
I loved Anna’s character and how she stayed true to herself through everything thrown at her. She was artsy and unapologetically herself without veering too far into the "quirky girl" trope. She got to wear some fancy clothes, but she never truly pretended to be someone she’s not where it counts. Her heart and her empathy for others really shined through. Liam was a very traumatized character and he didn’t have room for much else in the way of personality, understandably, but I thought that he matched her passion for others. I did wish they could have connected on something outside of the family drama. I think this would have really pushed it over the edge for me. I also understand that he was incredibly distracted with everything going on with his father’s company while he was living with her, but I don’t love that he never noticed her until she was useful to him.
Overall, I had a great time with this and it's at the top of my favorite Christina Lauren books now!
Very cute and fun, not too much conflict which is exactly what I want from a romance. Characters were distinct and ensemble cast memorable.
Anna and Liam are married but hardly know each other. This love story caught my attention on page one when Liam is moving out and handing off divorce papers. However, 5 years later the two are still married and pose as a happily married couple traveling to a private island for a family wedding. I throughly enjoyed this vacation based fake marriage trope. Reading this story left me craving a tropical beach vacation. The novel is a tad on the spicy side which made it hard to put down. Four stars for this fun, light, tropical read.
Thank you NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my unbiased opinion.

Christina Lauren does it again ladies and gentlemen! This duo is literally a godsend and I am on a quest (binge?) to read all of their books. I don’t want to jinx it, but I have yet to find a CL book I didn’t absolutely love.
The Paradise Problem includes:
🌴 Forced Proximity
🌴 Fake Marriage / Marriage of Convenience
🌴 Second Chance Romance
🌴 Opposite Worlds Collide
🌴 Complex and Dramatic Family Dynamics
Anna and Liam “West” Weston are polar opposites who may have a lot more in common than you think. Their romance was a slow burn for sure and the perfect beach read this summer you’re sitting in the sunshine.
I love Anna’s personality and her drive to follow her passion even though she knows it would be hard to make it as an artist. The way she interacts with Liam’s nieces and nephews was adorable and I felt like I needed to hear some of that advice too. Her sense of humor was definitely my type, as I’ve slapped quite a few nipple covers onto my man as well. 😂
Liam was your classic golden boy until he wasn’t. His story and fallout with his family is heartbreaking and as you learn more you feel a lot of sympathy for his family as a whole (except you Ray, fuck you.) He seemed like the real golden retriever type when he began getting close with Anna and that sent me. 🥰
Seeing Liam and Anna develop real feelings for each other was so genuine. I cried, I laughed, and of course I swooned. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the way Liam helped her get her career going. I get why he did it, but I would feel the same way as Anna, not knowing if I was truly good enough or if his part was the reason it took off. Although the art in the house was romantic. 😩
“I’d still stay and help you pull this off. I’m your ride or die, West Weston.”
Thank you Netgalley and Gallery Books for the ARC read and I can’t wait to add this to my shelf collection of CL! ✨
Christina Lauren is one of my automatic reads authors. I enjoyed this book, but it maybe wasn’t my favorite. I was super interested in the characters- loved Liam and Anna. They reminded me of the characters in “Yours Mine and Ours” (the newer version- she a messy artist and him a buttoned up professor (in the movie he’s a naval officer). The island setting is lush and detailed, and the premise had loads of promise.
There is heat and there is emotion- I love the balance of the two. There are a ton of tropes: opposites attract, forced proximity, single bed, fake relationships, second chance, billionaire, and more. It’s a light, easy read.
It’s slow in the beginning, but picks up. At times I had to suspend belief- or acknowledge I don’t know that much about lifestyles of the ultra wealthy. But I think what dropped it a star for me was the use of an expletive for a private body part. It was so distracting that at one point I almost stopped reading. I think it might be offensive to some religious readers. 3 stars.
Thank you to Gallery Books & NetGalley for this eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions stated are my own.
Can you have too many favorite books by an author? Every time I read one of their stories, it becomes a favorite! This one is no different. It is a fabulous read!
The characters are amazing, especially Liam. I fell for him and his Goddamn with every turn of the page. He is sex on a stick and Lauren does not fail us with the steamy scenes, the tender hearts, and the amazing setting. Anna is a perfect balance and together their connection leaps off the page.
The Paradise Problem brings us so many levels of emotion the deeper we get into the book. The author showers us with humor, snark, and swoons, along with a bit of trouble too. Parental drama? Ugh….
This book is a perfect read this summer. The Paradise Problem is an experience all on its own. If you have never read a Christina Lauren book, this one will hook you! So much love for this one!
This was such an enjoyable book to read! It’s especially perfect for those that like the fake relationship turns happily ever after.
The main characters were likable and the dialogue was both witty and quirky. The relationship took time to develop and seemed to be based on more than physical chemistry. The family though, whew.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Gallery Books for the opportunity to read and review this book prior to publication.
i absolutely loved this book. this might be my favorite christina lauren book so far! it was crazy rich asians meets pretty women (without the prostitution) and i couldn’t get enough of it. i loved the development of the two main characters and for a romance building there was a good amount of world building which i loved. i would highly recommended this one!
I absolutely loved this story and romance!!! As always, Christina Lauren have such an amazing writing style that is both laugh-out-loud hilarious and swoony. I enjoyed this story so much and it was the perfect beach read!! 10/10 recommend.
It’s been a few Christina Lauren releases since I’ve picked a new one up. They are the author duo that got me into the Rom Com genre. When I heard the premise of Paradise Problem I knew it would be an instant read!
Opposite attracts is by far my favorite trope out there 🫶🏼 struggling artist who lives simply Anna Green & Stanford professor and soon to be heir to Weston Foods, Liam Weston both of these characters I ADORED! Add in fake dating, marriage of convenience and a tropical resort island setting and you have yourself the perfect beach romcom to pack in your beach bag!
Do I dare say this is my new fav from this duo! I love their banter, humor and pop culture references. I’m curious to see where CLo fans will rank this one. Also there is an open shower… read to find out what that means 😊

A recent graduate of art school and unemployed Anne is visited by her ex roommate Liam who needs help to stand in to be the perfect wife at his sisters wedding. On a private island they learn to be there for each other while trying to fend off the controlling father. This book was funny and warm. The connection between Liam and Anne was instant but a fast enough burn to keep you turning the pages.
Loved this one so much. The faking dating trope was done really well and the characters had great personalities. I felt the story line was unique and well done and the book had great pacing.
Can a fake marriage turn into a real marriage?
Anna and Liam start off marrying for cheap college housing which soon leads to them going on their own paths until one day, 3 years later, Liam shows up on Anna’s doorstep inviting her to his sisters wedding. Over the course of the next few days they have a second chance of getting to know each other all over again. It also doesn’t hurt getting paid to do so - especially if it’s to help Anna’s sick father.
It is a love story between two opposite people getting a second chance at happiness. You’ll find the slow build up to explosive steamy entanglements. Which will keep any reader on their toes! Christina Lauren has once again delivered a wonderful book! You will not be disappointed! A definite must read! 5 stars.
Christina Lauren has written a love story that will make you root for the protagonist, Anna Green. She is brave, but does not know it YET. She is brilliant, but does not know it YET. However she knows she has the life lessons from her father and her wits to get through the wedding of her husband's sister, who she has never met. Married for several years by circumstance the two main characters come together again to hold up appearances and end up experiencing way more than they bargained for together, changing them and those around them. Anna Green is a swirling vortex of light, and she shined throughout the whole story. She teaches readers to handle BIG life situations out of our control with grace, humor, and compassion. Readers are taken on a wild ride through the wedding events and family drama! Thanks to NetGalley and Gallery Books for an early copy for an honest review.
