I normally love Christina Lauren and her works, but this one didn't sit well with me. It has all the makings of one of her books so the book is well written. My problem is the plot and ending. Writing a millionaire romance where the 2 mains acknowledge the power of the money to the point where it is a problem in their relationship is rare to find but oh so needed. My problem is that even though there was a major plot centered around this family's vast wealth and the possibility of losing it, but they didn't. It felt like a cop-out.
I like my millionaire romances to either not acknowledge the problem of money, or acknowledge and fix it.
3.5/5 stars
This is a fun romance book! An easy read where you want to see a happy ending! I don’t read a lot of romance books but this one is one of my favorites. The story was fun and easy to get lost in.
The cutest!!!
I do like Christina Lauren. I think their books are safe, and consistent. I know I’m gonna read a cute romcom every time I pick up a book with their name on it, so that’s why I requested this book from netgalley.
This was actually my favorite Christina Lauren books!! I loved the characters. Loved the fake/real marriage/dating. Loved the setting.
I only remove a star because I feel like they throw in these cringe elements that are meant to be funny but then they’re like jokes that go on too long lol, so ex, the GODDAMN got a little annoying after the first 3 times. Things like that. And generally I also cringe a little at current pop culture references. I know CL does it a lot, but I think they can do without lol.
Christina Lauren have once again delivered a fun and summery romance! The Paradise Problem is the PERFECT beach read (not only because most of it is on an island) due to the lavish wedding setting and the dysfunctional family. I do feel that this one was missing some of the depth that I sometimes find to be so beautiful in their novels, I think some of the characters felt one dimensional. The main male character's family felt like a caricature at times but the female main character's father and bff made up for it. Overall I really enjoyed this one and it brought a very big smile to my face!!
This had all the elements of a great romance story. Fake dating, billionaire-status, tropical islands…I loved this book! Anna and Liam don’t seem like a good fit at first but their story is truly one for the making. Big fan!
“The Paradise Problem” has a plot that we all know and love….the marriage of convenience for two perfect strangers. But Christina Lauren was able to provide a lovely fresh take on this plot. Part of the reason I enjoyed this book was due to the character development of Liam and Anna. Liam, the reserved grocery store heir trying to always do the right thing and Anna the free spirited arty girl with the heart of gold that he so desperately needs in his life. I loved the spice, the pop culture references, the family drama and the love story. This book is a perfect summer read. Thank you NetGalley, Christina Lauren and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
. I was so excited to get this book because earlier this week I had ordered my ticket/preordered this book through Wild Geese Bookshop for the author event in May! This book is so good!! I loved the dual point of views of Anna and Liam. You can feel their struggles and the character growth and development throughout the story captured my heart! I think one of my favorite details is when experiencing the island and the magnificent colors, Anna describes what colors she would use to replicate these colors in paint. Such an amazing detail for an artist main character. The complex family relationships pull at your heart strings and drive the story. I love a good slow burn and this one was great! Can’t wait for the book to release in May to get my hands on a physical copy!
“It’s all boring family dynasty shit," I tell her.
"Nothing boring involves the word dynasty."
Goddamn, I loved this. (iykyk)
This was one of those books that I simultaneously devoured as fast as I could, because I couldn't put it down, and also wanted to savor and make it last, because it was just so darn fun to read and I didn't want it to end! Imagine a laugh-out-loud-funny mashup of Two Broke Girls and Succession, but make it hot. That's what this was.
“Imagine shipping trunks of old glam outfits here just for a party!” She pauses and snickers. “What if they sent the wrong ones? Like, imagine Janet opening it to find a bunch of furry outfits.” She laughs. “Or, like, Lord of the Rings cosplay.”
Liam is the heir to a billion-dollar fortune and has spent his life surrounded by private jets and butlers and monogrammed silk Dior trash bags (probably). He needs to get (and stay) married in order to inherit the rest of his trust fund. Anna is, in her own words, a manic, unhinged, half-muppet / half-human, pink-haired "thirty-dollaraire" who curses like a pirate and has recently been fired from her part-time job at a convenience store. And they're already technically married, thanks to a previous scheme they pulled off in college, so they might as well keep at it and grab the trust fund, no?
"I have no idea how I’m going to make this work, but I’m backed into a corner, and I know it."
This was the best kind of guilty-pleasure romance reading. It was sweet and steamy and so funny. My husband had to ask me to please go read somewhere else because I couldn't stop laughing at the banter and the ridiculous antics and the reactions of all the snobby rich people! I also found Anna incredibly relatable; I, too, have been called a "trash-can goblin" on more than one occasion, and I would probably likewise be halfway homeless if I hadn't also gotten married. And the relationship between Anna & Liam was so sweet, despite their flaws, and I was rooting for them the whole time. Highly recommend!
"I feel the longing solidify into realization: I want our marriage to be real."

A huge thank you to Christina Lauren, Gallery Books, and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
This book was absolute perfection. I loved the lush island setting, how easily Anna and Liam fell for each other. The reluctant partners to friends to lovers to soulmates was 🤌🏼
I loved the side characters—mostly, because honestly, FUCK Ray—and the banter between these two was absolutely top notch. This book had me laughing, choking up, kicking my feet and squealing. It was funny, warm, heartfelt, sweet, and steamy.
Believe it or not, but this is the first Christina Lauren book I have read. I know! I have been missing out. I'm so glad I decided to go for this ARC, because now I have some catching up to do. We have a fake marriage, family drama, laugh out loud characters, and some steam. I can't wait to read more from this author. Thanks to NetGalley and Gallery Books for this ARC.
Thank you Gallery Books and Netgalley for my gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.
😍😍I loved everything about this. I didn’t realize the family drama I was getting myself into when I started this. I thought it would be a nice fluffy romcom, but o was surprised to find it to be so much more! I also really loved the mention of Isle Esme and knew immediately what this reference was!
This is the perfect spring read to get you ready for the summer. Now I just need to find a tropical island.
I could not put this down!! I stayed up until after 3 am just to finish it,and I never do that!! The storyline grabs you from the first page, and you find yourself feeling like you are Anna. All I’m going to say is that I would love a second book!!
Christina Lauren is the end all be all for funny, quick witted and great romance. I will never not read anything they have to put out to the world!
gaaaaaaah I love a fake-dating/fake marriage trope! Christina Lauren's books are always enjoyable - funny, smart, and just the right amount of steam - and this one did not disappoint!
I really enjoy Christina Lauren’s books! This was another funny and unique fake-marriage story from them. There were times I literally laughed out loud, some steamy parts, and the usual family drama that gets in the way of the blooming romance. Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for the chance to read this awesome ARC!
Christina Lauren is an instant read author for me! Their characters and storylines always hook me and let me escape to different worlds. This book is no different- and the paradise setting is a nice escape from everyday life. A vacation in a book!
Liam is an extremely rich uptight man who has serious family issues, in particular an extremely manipulative Father. Anna is the opposite, always struggling to make ends meet, doesn’t really care about money except having enough to pay her Fathers medical bills. Anna and Liam definitely make an unlikely couple. This book has romance, scandal and humor. Anna has a quirky view of life and the banter between her and Liam is really fun. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.
I loved this book. It was a cute quick romance. I love all of Christina Lauren’s books that I have read, but this one has become a favorite.

From marriage of convenience to fake dating and opposites attract, The Paradise Problem has it all.
Christina Lauren are brilliant authors who managed to turn a billionaire into a super-hot Stanford professor.
Liam is the perfectionist we've come to expect from the academic male bunch (Ali Hazelwood fans will definitely get the type).✨️
Anna is a hot mess trying to make ends meet while struggling to emerge as an artist.
The story between the two is simply explosive. We have banter, chemistry, fun and bittersweet moments. I don't want to spoil anything, but this book should go straight to the top of your romance TBR list.
Thank you, @christinalauren, @gallerybooks, and @netgalley for early access to a copy. This review was originally posted on Instagram.
This book was adorable! I enjoyed reading it and loved the characters. There was the perfect amount of steaminess and scandal but there was also a fun and funny love story. It was a great romantic comedy that was a very quick read. Perfect beach read for the summer of 2024! Thank you to netgalley.com, the authors and publisher for this ARC in trade for my honest opinion.
