Wow. THE PARADISE PROBLEM may be my new favorite from Christina Lauren. This book was so romantic and fun, but also touched on serious topics like the widening wealth gap and truly toxic family relationships. It was hot and funny, but also had an incredible amount of heart and reality in it that really grounded it. It was perfect. I think THE PARADISE PROBLEM may be Christina Lauren at the top of their craft.
P.S. This one is for those who stan Jennifer Lawrence in No Hard Feelings!!!! Give me more perfectly imperfect and messy heroines with a heart of gold!!!
I absolutely love every book from Christina Lauren and this book was no different. The chemistry between the two leading characters, the family drama, the location, the 1 bed and fake marriage tropes…loved it all! Definitely a five star read in my opinion!
Christina Lauren will always be an amazing author and this book was no different. The setting of being on an island is the perfect backdrop for the MMC Liam and FMC Anna to fall in love! If you love Christina you will LOVE this book
Christina and Lauren did it again! They drop us into a world of two lovably flawed characters destined to end up together. In this case, the eponymous paradise, a private island in Indonesia, provides a romantic backdrop for Liam and Anna's burgeoning love story. Will they? Won't they? These ladies write the tension so well! You really feel for these new adults whose early in life choice left them in a precarious situation. The B story, a complicated family dynasty drama, is heartfelt and engaging. As always, it serves to explain the backstory for the main character's motivation. Thank you for the ARC and for the opportunity to read and review.
So fun and perfect for summer! Reminded me a little of the movie The Proposal and the setting of White Lotus. Fans of Christina Lauren will enjoy!
Overall I found this to be a fun, fluffy, entertaining cheeseball of a beach read/ rom com! 🍹🏝️💞
It was enjoyable for sure but by no means my favorite Christina Lauren book (I loveeee them). It was just a little * too * silly and that’s saying a lot coming from me. The getting fully married to get cheap housing in college??? When he’s a billionaire?? Confusing. The weird inheritance clauses? The evil lunatic dad? The creepy unhinged sister-in-law?? It was all just a little too much. Also the characters felt a little too character-y for me and not like real people, if that makes sense? All that being said, I very much enjoyed the setting of the private island, the pretty woman vibes, and the billionaire family drama. I would recommend for lovers of Christina Lauren at their cheesiest and to anyone looking for a quick silly little rom com to read on the beach this summer.
✨ PUB DAY: May 14th! ✨
Huge thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this copy in exchange for an honest review.
This book had everything that I look for in a romance - fast-paced, good chemistry between the main characters and just the right amount of cheesiness. It also had some of my favorite tropes - marriage of convenience, one-bed, and attending a wedding.
Anna and Liam get fake married to get subsidized housing from their university, and rarely talk to each other. They go their separate ways after a while, and three years later Anna finds out that she is still married to Liam and has to attend a wedding with him. Also, sidenote, Liam is one of the four heirs of the biggest grocery chain of United States, so the wedding would be fancy.
The banter between the main characters was fun, and I liked how the story progressed even though you know what will eventually happen. The setting of the book is also fun with a private island where no stone is left unturned to have one of the most lavish weddings. I liked how Anna's character stayed true to her roots, holding on to her quirkiness and calling out the shenanigans of rich people when needed. She wasn't a typical character who is just swept away with the glamour of hanging out with the rich. Liam's character was a typical book boyfriend, being amused by Anna
and then falling in love hard.
All in all, a hit in the recent slew of romcoms that I read. Definitely recommend.
This is a perfect pool or beach read. I honestly wasn't crazy about the premise, but I found myself really loving both Anna and Liam... flaws and all. Anna talked a lot about how great her dad was. I wish we could have seen or heard a little bit more from him. Overall four stars and would recommend if you're looking for a light, summer read!
I absolutely ate this book up! Christina Lauren are truly masters of their craft and I find myself loving everything they write! this book was probably my absolute favorite of theirs!
2024 is the year of the marriage of convenience! This is one of the superior tropes in my opinion and I am so excited for it to have its moment. This was a great usage of the trope and the authors navigated it wonderfully!
I absolutely adore these characters! Anna and Liam were flawed in completely believable and relatable ways that made them even more endearing to me. I was rooting for them so much! This is really going to be one of my favorite reads of the year! I need everyone to read it!
Christina Lauren did it again! Wow, what a fantastic book! I couldn't put it down; these are the days were I wish I didn't work and just stayed home to read. There was not one boring scene in this book, every moment I wanted to know what happened next. The main characters chemistry was visible throughout the whole read. There was enough spicy to make this book spicy but not a whole lot where the spicy took over the plot. It was such a funny rom-com that you won't normally see. Can't wait for everyone to read this amazing book! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for the ARC Ebook!
The Christina Lauren duo delivers. As I was reading this today I tried to figure out what appeals to me about their writing. I think it’s their wildly imperfect characters. While I knew what would ultimately happen between Anna and Liam, I didn’t know how it would happen. Their flawed characters helped build that tension and anticipation. I think that’s what keeps me reading everything they write. This book is balanced and entertaining & has me dreaming of an over-water bungalow!
If you are looking for a great escape to a tropical place with a steamy fake romance, then look no further than Christina Lauren's latest book, The Paradise Problem. This was a delightfully entertaining and quick read that reminded me a lot of the HBO show, Succession, and aix of the ABC show, Brothers and Sisters. The charcters were well-developed and the plot was cleverly developed! Definitely recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion!
(4.5 stars!)
Truly the perfect beach read that you should immediately pick up!
Liam Weston is a buttoned-up heir of a grocery chain and Anna Green is the free-spirited artist that he married for cheap college housing but 2 years later, they'll have to fake their relationship for his sister's wedding and in order to receive a massive inheritance...
Wow, what a fun read! It will know doubt be the summer read this year. And if you enjoyed The Unhoneymooners, you'll know doubt fall in love with this one!
I loved the dual POVs and both MCs. Anna is quirky, funny, oblivious, and oh so relatable. She's a hot mess I can get behind! Whereas Liam is oblivious in his own way but smart, admirable, and a hot specimen of a man that I loved being in the head of. Them together had the best banter, just the right amount of tension, and I LOVED how supportive they were of each other. I easily bought into their relationship and wanted them to be together no matter what (awful family and stupid large inheritance aside).
Besides the main characters, I enjoyed the plot, the many shenanigan, and the quiet moments where we got to know these characters. The side characters felt nuanced and useful to the plot. The setting was immersive and I found myself ready to book an all inclusive vacation ASAP. And all of the laugh out loud moments hit the mark! She seriously didn't know this man's real name for YEARS! lol.
I will say the middle did slow down a bit which took me out at points and why this isn't a total 5 star read, but the rave reviews are honest! This is worth picking up for your next vacation read.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I absolutely loved this book by Christina Lauren! I've been a fan of their books for a long time, and this one was just another lovely romance. It did take me a little longer to get invested into the story and characters, but once I did I just couldn't stop reading, and then re-reading some parts as well :) Loved this so much and will recommend to all my friends.
My favorite book by them so far! Loved the characters and their relationship throughout the story. Couldn’t put it down, read it in less than 24 hours. Thanks NetGalley for the ARC!
Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for providing this book, with my honest review below.
I loved the Paradise Problem! It’s worth all the hype it’s already received as well as all the accolades. Having read two previous books by Christina Lauren, one I enjoyed and one I was more tepid about, I’d been hesitant to read this but had seen the overwhelmingly positive reviews and took the plunge (for which I again thank Gallery Books for allowing me to do so) and I’m so glad I did! The characters were amazing, as was their dynamic, but Christina Lauren also created a clever plot with the right amount of world building leading to the main event, the hoodwinking of West’s family in order for him to secure the bag. And this wasn’t a rich MC who just wanted a $100 million to fritter on toys. West is sensitive and caring and in turn made me care about what was happening to him. Our heroine, Anna, was his perfect match, which seems a tall order in the face of West’s perfection. She was sassy and smart and felt like the best parts of all your friends.
Full of shenanigans, witty banter, and spice, count me amongst the many fans of The Paradise Problem who will encourage modern romance fans to enjoy a few days getting lost in the tropics with this read!
I am not usually a fan of the “fake dating” trope, but I absolutely loved this! Both Anna and Liam were so lovable from the beginning and the raw emotions between them throughout the whole story made me swoon. I found the added family drama made the story different from others. And of course, you can’t hate a story based on a private island. I highly recommend this- the perfect summer/vacation read!
This was such a fun read with a unique premise—I absolutely loved the setting, the plot, and the characters felt so fresh and fun! Will definitely be recommending for anyone in the mood for a book with vibes that feel like The Unhoneymooners x Crazy Rich Asians (the wedding/setting/extravagance reminded me of that one!). Thanks so much to the publisher for the opportunity to read this one early!
The Paradise Problem by Christina Lauren
My rating:
5/5
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Liam and Anna married 5 years ago so she could have cheap housing and so he could access his trust fund after a 5 year successful marriage. What his family doesn’t know is that they do not live together and haven’t talked in years. When Liam’s sister Charlie is getting married at a private island location, he approaches Anna to come with him to convince his family that they are happily married.
I just love Christina Lauren’s writing style so much! The fact that they can co-author their books so seamlessly is so impressive to me.
They truly have a way with words and especially with their slow burn spice. I have been more into thrillers as of late and this one has me ready to read some more romance!
I have nothing more to say about this one because I loved it so much and the character development as always was great!
Add it to your TBR or preorder it now! It’s such a fun book!
Thank you netgalley and Gallery books for the ARC! You can read this one on May 14th 2024!
OH MY GOSH!!!! This is my favorite read of 2024 already! I loved every second of this book and would by far say it is the authors' best book to date.
First of all, Anna kept my chuckling the entire book; she was the perfect character to offset the heaviness of Liam/West's family issues. I don't think Christina Lauren could have gotten a single detail about her any better. She was believable, lovable and like I said, kept me laughing even when things were heavy.
Liam/West is the ultimate guy, which plays into this being my top read of 2024 so far. He is just so stinking GOOD and we need that in today's fiction. I was cheering for him and Anna the entire time and GAWSHHHHHHH I just love them!
10/10 would recommend. I read it in 36 hours and if I wasn't sick, I would have read it in 24 hours. LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT!
