Christina Lauren books never dissapoint! Characters that are fun to read. I always can picture her books being made into movies. A can't put down type of book!
The witty banter in this Christina Lauren book left me laughing out loud several times! Such well-developed characters. This one would make a fantastic movie. I’ll be hand selling this to customers for sure!
Christina Lauren always write the best rom com’s. I enjoyed this one a lot. It’ll definitely be a hit summer read!
Once I started this book, I couldn't put it down. I loved this book and all the comedy, romance, and family drama. This was probably my favorite of all Christina Lauren's novels and I can't wait to read their next book!
This book was so good. The banter between West and Anna was fantastic and literally had me laughing out loud. Anna was such a well written character, and I love that this wasn't just a romance, there was also an important message too. The setting was so well described, and made me immediately want to book a tropical vacation. Christina Lauren can do no wrong with these romantic comedies, and I loved every minute of it.
I LOVED The Paradise Problem by Christina Lauren. The epilogue was absolute perfection, and the spice is something I always look forward to in their books! At some points, the “business” part of the story wasn’t my absolute favorite, but I felt like it was needed for the end result! Over 4.5 ⭐️ from me! Thank you NetGalley and Simon and Schuster for the ARC!
Every time I read a new Christina Lauren book, l'm immediately struck by their banter. The ease at which these two write their characters, dynamics, and neuroses is top-tier. The second thing I always notice is how much I immediately buy into every novel's rom-com premise, no matter how goofy it may seem on the surface; there's always something deeper lurking below.
The Paradise Problem is no exception, and unsurprisingly, I finished the last chapter, sat there for a few minutes, and then cursed my misfortune as I realized that I'm going to have to wait a while to get another one of their books. I do this to myself every time!!!!!!
“Intent matters.” That was the best takeaway from this book!
‘The Paradise Problem’ is predictable and unrealistic. If you can get past that, it’s fun and entertaining - a perfect beach read.
Main themes include marriage of convenience and opposites attract. Both main characters are likable. Anna and Liam have great chemistry. They bring out the best in each other.
Did I enjoy this book? Yes. Will I forget about it in a month? Also, yes.
Thank you NetGalley and Gallery Books for sending this e-book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.
I’m always excited when I get my hands on a new book by Christina Lauren because I know it’s going to be a fun ride, and The Paradise Problem was no exception. I laughed out loud SO many times while reading Liam and Anna’s love story, and there’s something in this book for everyone - romance, comedy, mystery - and the chemistry between these two characters is off the charts! One specific thing I was very glad to see is the way the authors didn’t sugar coat family trauma, and I loved that the conclusion wasn’t wrapped up in a cute little bow, like a lot of love stories. (I don’t want to spoil it for anyone, but if you know you know!) Once I started reading this book I couldn’t put it down, and I highly recommend it to everyone!
You can never go wrong with Christina Lauren. They are an automatic read at this point. I really enjoyed The Paradise Problem! It would be a perfect beach read during the summer time.
This book is a 10 out of 10! Absolutely one of my favorite romantic-comedies. The banter between Anna and Liam was so natural and the unique storyline had me hooked right from the beginning. I loved the gradual progress of their relationship and the EXPLOSION of passion once they finally let their guards down. Christina Lauren does it again. I can't wait to recommend this book to all of my friends. Thank you to CL, Gallery Books, and Netgalley for sharing THE beach read of 2024!
If you liked The Unhoneymooners then you are going to love this one!!
The books are similar in that we spend the majority of the book on a tropical island and there’s a family wedding involved. And in this book, our penniless protagonist, Anna, is no less fearless or feisty than Olive.
Despite the similarities the majority of the plot was different. It felt fresh and I honestly didn’t notice the parallels until I started writing this review.
Anna and West know little about each other, but they know they need access to cheap on campus housing while Anna finishes her undergrad and West works on his doctorate. When the only housing left is married student housing, they begin a marriage of convenience.
Five years later and Anna is a penniless, recently unemployed artist who finds West at her door one day. As the revelations spill out, Anna finds out she is not only still married, but needed to accompany West, or rather Liam, to his sisters wedding on a private island outside Singapore. The catch? They have to pretend to be madly in love so that West can still meet the terms of his inheritance. The bonus? Anna gets $$$$$$$
Things are made more tense by the sticky family dynamic. Sibling rivalry threatens to undo everything when Liam’s older brother starts looking a little too closely at their relationship.
From the meet cute to the happy ending, I really enjoyed this book. There were times where West was a little annoying and just needed to admit his feelings, but what’s a rom com without a slightly clueless hero? Anna and West were the perfect couple and I felt that the authors did a great job at portraying West’s family with a good mix of toxic and lovely members.
This is an adult fiction book and there were a few spicy scenes, but they were easy to skip over.
Thank you to Net Galley and Gallery Books for an eARC of this book. All opinions are my own.
🌺 Anna Green may be my favorite rom-com character, EVER. Never before has a female MC been so perfectly imperfect. ❤️ She’s funny, brash, creative, talented, streetsmart, kind, loving, and unabashedly herself in every moment. In a situation where many of us would have been intimidated, or glamoured— she stood by what her Daddy taught her, and followed her moral compass.
🌺 Ok, sorry, just had to get that out! Thank you so much to @gallerybooks and @netgalley for the early look at this. I lovvvved this rom-com!
🌺 What you can expect:
- marriage of convenience
- forced proximity
- rich people problems
- laugh-out-loud moments
- a swoon-worthy romance
🌺 What I loved…
- Anna (obvi)
- the banter & humor (lots of LOL moments)
- the consistency of the characters— the authors kept them tried and true (ride or die)
- West’s integrity
- Anna’s support system
🌺 I just adored this. It was pure FUN, and entertainment. Books like this are truly what I hope for when I turn to this genre. @christinalauren NAILED it. I know I’ve said this a few times already, but y’all better have this in your beach bags this summer. It’s out in May!
Another absolute gem from the Christina Lauren duo! I have read most of their works and I think they just keep getting better!
I had the privilege of reading this book on my honeymoon from a tropical villa in Thailand and let me tell you, it sets the mood for the perfect beachside, summer getaway read.
Anna is a delight and Liam is a dream. I really liked their genuine relationship and banter. Some moments had my kicking my feet and laughing out loud. I appreciated the topics discussed, including therapy, cancer of a loved one, difficult family dynamics and extreme wealth. I think it was handled very well.
For those with challenging family dynamics beware it gets a little heated and heavy but Anna’s character brings such brevity and freshness.
Highly recommend! Thanks NetGalley and Gallery Books for the ARC!
I have read almost all of Christina Lauren's books and I loved this book. The Paradise Problem was amazing. I was laughing so hard through the entire book. I loved Anna's character and I feel every family needs a Blair in it. I couldn't put this book down. I highly recommend this book and any other book Christina Lauren writes. You won't be disappointed. Thank you NetGalley for this opportunity.
Christina Lauren is an automatic request/read for me! Loved this one, it was legit like a beach vacation in book form. Love the whole marriage of convenience trope and the banter between Anna and Liam is fantastic. Then we have forced proximity/only one bed? Yes please.
I really liked the themes of family, wealth, and authenticity. The side characters are so loveable that I'm almost hoping for follow up books on them! I highly highly recommend this!
OMG, the dynamic duo CL is back and here to inconvenience with you an ultimate wedding destination with a side of toxic family reunion and extreme sexual tension because! The poor Anna married a rich Stanford professor before he became rich and Stanford related for housing. I would do it too girl! have you seen the cost of living in 2024? SHEEESHHH. I love how Liam views and hates his family's wealth and i have met people the exact same way. These are your basic favorites tropes with a CL twist and we love it. While the family was toxic I did adore the children in it. I got to 80% so fast but then I was too scared to finish because I needed a happy ending and I was worried that wasn't gonna be the case. Buckle in folks! The setting is so clearly illustrated and it makes you want to read this book on a beach or bungalow! Thank you so much CL, Gallery Books, and Netgalley this your prefect Beach Bum read for 2024 summer!
Christina Lauren does it again. “The Paradise Problem” is a great story of a marriage of convenience, and two families, one wealthy, huge, and completely messed up and the other small, economically challenged, and warm and loving. This book took one of my favorite tropes, a marriage of convenience and put a unique twist on it. The tropical island setting was vividly described. I felt like I was there with Liam and Anna. I was laughing so hard that tears were coming out of my eyes with the banter between Anna and Liam. I loved the way the relationship between Anna and Liam progressed as well as the tender moments between Anna and Liam's niece and other family members. There were some great laugh out loud lines - Anna is hilarious! She is a down-to-earth polar opposite of the privilege and excess of the Westons and the circles they run in. I loved the rotating dual POVs, this always keeps a story line moving, and allows the reader to get inside both MCs heads to really see why they fall for each other. The book is dripping with the sexual chemistry between Anna and Liam, and the spicy scenes are HOT. I think there was steam coming off of my kindle at some point! I also enjoyed the subtle pop culture references to movies like “When Harry Met Sally” and “Teen Wolf”. I genuinely had a good time reading it and would recommend it to anyone who wants to read an engaging rom-com that makes you laugh and just feel good and happy! Thanks to Christina Lauren, Netgalley and Gallery books for an e-arc in exchange for my thoughts. I can’t wait to read Christina’s next book!
Christina Lauren does it again! I loved the unique spin on the marriage of convenience trope. One of my favorite things about these authors is the banter back and forth between their characters. It willl literally make you laugh out loud! This is the perfect summer, beach read.
I really loved these main characters and I laughed out loud several times. I appreciate how the chemistry and affection grows over time and the specific ways the two see each other in ways no one else in their lives do.
I really liked the ending, also.
