3.5 stars - I love Christina Lauren’s writing! They do a great job at making rom com books. I thought this book was very similar to the Dreamland Billionaires series. I really enjoyed this book, it was funny and cute and a great summer read! Sometimes I could not stand the main female character Anna though.
Another great love story from Christina Lauren!
Filled with a tropical location, friends to enemies to friends and rags to riches, this is a love story for everyone!
Absolutely loved this newest installment from the powerhouse duo that is Christina Lauren.
Pretty Women meets white lotus mixed in with a mutli-million dollar inheritance? What can possibly go wrong...
This book was a breath of fresh air for the fake dating/marriage trope and was unique in that both characters were incredibly emotionally intelligent. I adored Anna and her whole outlook on life, love, and career aspirations. She was a pastel-pink whirlwind that really came into herself throughout the book, and despite the pressures to be an obedient Stepford wife from the Weston family, stayed true to herself.
Her character really brought West to life and not only was their banter incredible and hilarious, but their communication was a dream as someone who hates the miscommunication trope.
The descriptions of the gorgeous island had me feeling like I was on vacation, not sitting on my couch in the middle of Winter. This was so so so cute and Christina Lauren did not disappoint!
If West Weston (lol) for some reason needs another fake wife, PLEASE send him my way.

I loved this book. I am quickly realizing that I love a fake dating/marriage trope. And this one put a fun little twist on it. I love how much detail CLo are able to put in to describe the tropical island. It really brought the story to life and felt like I could be there with the characters.
Anna was such a class act. She was such a beautiful disaster in the beginning of the story. I love how much her personality was able to shine through despite all the crazy BS that is Liam's family. She still managed to stay true to who she is. And Liam was such a sweetie. I just wanted to give him a hug. I loved getting his perspective in alternating chapters. The banter and flirting between the two was just perfect. I think I say that for every single CLo book, but they have a gift. The tension created adding forced proximity and only one bed was a really fun choice.
I always love the side characters CLo create. I feel like they put just as much thought into their personalities as they do the MCs. It makes the story feel whole. While the majority of Liam's family were absolutely unbearable, Reagan was just the cutest. I adored the scenes with Reagan and Anna together.
Between the absurdly rich and over the top family members, the family dynamics, and outrageously extravagant wedding, this was giving a lot of Crazy Rich Asians vibes on a private island. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see how the ending would play out. CLo will never steer you wrong. <3
This was a cute, fun read!! I needed an escape from the dreariness of winter and real life and this fit the bill! I could easily pretend to still be in a (sham) marriage for a free trip to a luxurious private island with a rich, hot and smart man. I could have devoured this in one sitting, but my pesky job and kids got in the way. Perfect read for the beach or a snowed in day on the couch. Christina Lauren always delivers and this one is no exception! (Also, love the bright colors of the cover!)
4.5 Stars 🌟 Another fun, romantic, witty gem from Christina Lauren. I literally devoured this in one day by the pool on vacation, it was a perfect escape read!
Anna Green and Liam "West" Weston are married. Well, kind of. It's more of a contractual thing, years ago. Until West's family puts him to the test to present his beautiful bride, challenging an archaic clause in his grandfather's trust. Their reunion is full of banter, tension and steam, all of the things that make up a great rom-com.
I literally laughed out loud on my pool floatie, this one was so fun. And then there were times that the steam was so hot I needed to splash myself with the cool pool water! Some of the characters were downright annoying and some pulled at my heart strings. But what they all added was variety and depth, and a complexity to the story line that surprised me from time to time. Overall it was a good story line with an ending that worked really well with the rest of the plot.
Thank you so much to Gallery Books and NetGalley for my ARC in exchange for an honest review. Catch this one on shelves this May 14th!
✨ BOOK REVIEW ✨ The Paradise Problem by Christina Lauren
~ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ 💫 ~
👨🏫 Liam “West” Weston = a hot professor at Stanford, stupidly wealthy heir to a corporate throne, & regular at therapy
🎨 Anna Green = a feisty feminist, starving and humble artist (ex-premed student), & loyal daughter… dare I say, her personality is as vibrant as her pink hair!
I’m between a 4 + 4.5 stars for this one… I honestly loved escaping into this world of romance on a private island, following along as these two went from strangers to husband-wife (still strangers) to roommates (still strangers) to co-conspirators (with some added ➕ benefits) to ride-or-dies. While I’ve enjoyed the last few CL books, I haven’t loved them quite like I did this one 💘 This story had some of my fave tropes like fake dating (?) & forced proximity while mixing in a disparity of wealth (billionaire & starving artist vibes at once) & marriage of convenience. It was sexy, fun, colorful, sunny 🌞, and funny - leaving me feeling like I was a fly on the wall as these two attended themed parties & a private island wedding, dismantled a corrupt family business, & lusted for each other.
Thank you NetGalley and Gallery Books for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. If this book sounds as fun to you as it was for me, save this post to come back to (or preorder!) - The Paradise Problem by Christina Lauren comes out May 14, 2024 🥂
The dynamic duo hit out of the park yet again! The Paradise Problem was full of all the heart and humor we’ve all come to love in Christina Lauren books, and it was also full of delicious tension that comes with the fake marriage trope. This book will make you smile, swoon, fan yourself, and transport you to paradise.
This book was the PERFECT escape from the cold and dreary Minnesota weather the past few weeks.
If you liked the movie Just Go With It with Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler, you will love The Paradise Problem. They have different plots, but the vibe felt the same. 😍
The Paradise Problem is another book by Christina Lauren that I couldn't put down! Anna and Liam enter into a fake marriage and must act convincingly during a ten-day trip to a remote island to celebrate the marriage of Liam's sister. While there, the close quarters and stressful circumstances bond them together, and their friendship starts to develop into something more. Liam's toxic family and their over the top affluence is juxtaposed with Anna's food insecurity and struggle to pay her father's medical co-pays. They give each other confidence and support, and are hilarious and spicy all at the same time. A super swoony and fun read, many thanks for the opportunity!
Christina Lauren is one of my must read authors. I read everything that they publish and have never been disappointed. This book has kept that trend going. I loved it and loved the characters.
A sweet story about problems in paradise. The island setting for most of this story is idyllic, and the description allows you to feel like you are really there. The characters have you rooting for them to succeed, and the ending actually makes sense.
I do wish that some of the intimate vocabulary was varied, I did not care for some of the terms used, and they were used over and over again.
Anna Green, lives the starving artist life. It’s about to collide with a long forgotten moment in her college years. Anna married Liam Weston in order to qualify for housing. It was beneficial to both parties, each going their separate ways. Years later Anna is strapped Liam needs her signature on papers which will afford him to continue his life of teaching . Little does Anna know the reappearance of Liam will start her on a journey of discovery that will change the course of both lives. Happy reading
I wanted to love this book but I just didn’t. :( I felt like the characters and book in general relied way too much on tropes than on the actual plot. Not a fan of this one!
We LOVE!!!! fake dating!! This fun, low-stakes romance would make the perfect summer beach read. The setting is fabulous, the relationships are complicated without being overblown, overall it's a good time.
I received this book from the publisher & NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.
3.5 stars
This book was super funny! I really enjoyed Anna's character especially. It was fun to see an FMC in a romance that was truly a free spirit, very witty, very confident in herself. Loved that. The latter half of the book was a bit drawn out with all the details of the inheritance and stuff, so I skimmed some of those bits. But overall, it was a quick fun read!
When it comes to careers of FMC, artist is one of my least favorite. I read fiction to escape normal life so I don’t know why an artist character bothers me so much but it’s just so impractical. I’m also not creative so I can’t connect with an artist character. Having said that—Anna is hilarious and grounded. She knows what is truly important in life. West, her former husband who is still her husband needs her help and they her off for a beautiful yet stressful adventure. West’s family is a mix of elite monsters and sweethearts. Loved the humor in this, the spice, the setting, and valuable life lessons. Great romance. Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC
THIS BOOK!!! Christina Lauren never misses. The Paradise Problem was full of funny, laugh-out-loud banter, but also surprisingly poignant moments as well, especially when drawing parallels between Anna and West's family histories. Anna is living in poverty but has a rich relationship with her dad, who raised her on his own. West has all the money anyone could ask for, yet his relationship with his family is toxic and complicated at best. The tropes were *chef's kiss*. I love marriage of convenience, and Christina Lauren did it justice in this book. It was such a satisfying read and I didn't want it to end. Loved it so much!
I could not get enough of this book, It was so fun to read and I love a marriage of convenience story its one of my favorite tropes. I loved to watch them fall for each other it was the best.
Christina Lauren is an automatic read for me. If it’s not for you yet (WHY) it will be after reading The Paradise Problem. I do not know how they keep getting better (see my review for True Love Experiment) but this is Christina Lauren AT THEIR BEST! I love a fake dating trope and this is one with a delicious slow burn. I absolutely fell in love with Anna and Liam, who were thoughtful and developed characters, I want to keep reading about forever. Beyond the romance is a complex family dynamic due to positions on the family dynasty. This lead to a story with an incredibly thought out commentary on class. I just highly recommend no DEMAND you read this book. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to read one of the best books of the year in exchange for this honest ramble/review. To Christina Lauren: Thank you for being you! ILYSM
This book was so much fun! It was funny and charming and full of heart. I loved the setting and the characters. Every one of them felt full and complete and added something to the story. The main characters had incredible banter. I love a fake dating and only one bed situation!
