This may be my favorite beach read so far this summer. This was laugh out loud fun and cute. I couldnt Read it fast enough and was sad when it was over.
The perfect summer read!
Fake dating the person you’re actually married to legally??? So fun!
I loved the character development of both the FMC and MMC. They both had their own struggles to overcome and found a way to get through them together.
The setting was incredible. I want to be in a hut over the water but without the crazy family that came with it.

The Paradise Problem ~ Christina Lauren
Pages: 352
Genre: Romance
Gist: To ensure housing on campus, Anna Green and Liam “West” Weston get married and quickly divorced before going their own ways. Or so Anna thinks…
Three years later, West is back with a favor for Anna that could guarantee him his million-dollar inheritance - join him at his sister’s wedding in Indonesia and fake a happy married life for everyone in his family. West soon realizes the facade feels awfully real, and then has to ask himself if you can really put a price on true love.
Thoughts: Best Christina Lauren to date - I absolutely loved this. Major Pretty Woman vibes, sans the hooker storyline - with a pinch of Succession-esque family drama. I started this during a manicure and was legit embarrassing myself in the chair as I was laughing out loud at the initial dialogue between Anna and West.
But isn’t that the best?? To become fully immersed in a book so much that the characters feel real and the voices jumps off the page? I just really enjoyed myself reading this and took my time because I didn’t want it to end. The wit and humor was on point and the romance was electric - done and done. Get it now for your summer reading list - it’s the best of the summer romance releases that I have read so far!
I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I love the authors’ previous works, and this book didn’t disappoint. I love the characters and the way they develop throughout the book. I always become so attached because they seem so relatable. The story flowed well and was funny and touching. A great read.
I have been getting into romance more and more, and Christina Lauren is one of those authors that I think non-romance readers can still enjoy. Their books are so easy and fun to read, and The Paradise Problem is no different! This book gave me all laughs and all the feels. It was a great book to bring to the beach. I have been recommending Christina Lauren to our patrons for a while, and I am so excited to add this book to my recommendations.
Christina Lauren has done it again. I absolutely love their writing and ability to make you fall in love with the characters they create. Highly recommend 🌟🌟🌟🌟
yes clo ate...yes i'm still on the floor...marriage of conveninece will always hit of course but it will hit even harder with a clo hero bc this was SO good!!! i was hooked from the start to end!
The Paradise Problem is a fun and easy read. Perfect for the beach! Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for the ARC!
What happens when you have to fake being married for a week in paradise? Swoon. This one was so good. You end up rooting for both Anna and Liam--even when you know they may not make it. Satisfying read. I"ve never read anything by the Christina Lauren duo, and I will definately be picking up their next one!
This book is adorable. Generally, I think CL is the best rom-com team out there. They always nail the chemistry and have adorable plot lines that are fun and engaging to follow. This was no different. I loved West. He was adorable awkward, and even with his hangups, he was so cute. Anna . . . eh, she was annoying and slovenly, but it's not necessary to want to be friends with fictional characters. She was so sweet with Regan, though. That was probably my favorite part.
3.5 rounded up
This was a different approach to the "fake marriage" trope. Anna and West had a marriage of convenience while she attended college, one that ended after graduation. At least, so Anna thought. Turns out they are still married, a fact that Anna discovers when West shows up on her doorstep three years later needing a favor. Due to an archaic clause in his grandfathers will for his inheritance, he must be happily married for five years before it is released. Thanks to his family questioning the validity of his marriage, since they have never seen her, he needs her to play the part of loyal and happy wife for a family trip to his sisters destination wedding. Quickly what started as a lie starts to become real, but his toxic family will do everything in their power to test and threaten their ability to explore this newfound connection. I really enjoyed reading this one, I felt a range of feelings towards his folks, mainly rage. But, I was happy with watching their relationship grow, and loved the ending.
Absolutely loved this book by Christina Lauren! I loved the premise of the book and anytime a book takes place in a tropical island I am all about it.
I love all books by these authors. They create such amusing storylines with lovely characters and so much romance. This was the perfect beachy travel read. The trajectory of Anna and West's relationship was not believable but was so much fun. His family drama was heartbreaking but I loved how she didn't fall into the trap of being the annoying partner but actually stood up for him. A must read for the summer.
Once again, Christina Lauren knocks one out of the park. This might be my favorite one of all her books yet. It's hard to say, but WEST is perfection. He just says all the right things. This trope was something I didn't even know I wanted. What a twist on the marriage of convenience/fake marriage/fake dating/forced proximity. I ate this up, and I would definitely read it again, and I RARELY say that.
Fake fiancé/spouse books are always guilty pleasures. They are fun reads, although rarely very original. In this book, we have a very original protagonist. Anna (the fake real wife, figure that one out) is a premed student turned artist who is hired to attend a wedding with Liam (West). This isn't just any wedding, it is an over the top richy rich wedding in paradise. And, not just with normal wedding guests, but with Liam's very toxic family and a variety of business associates and reporters. When Anna does all the appropriate grooming and acquires all of the appropriate clothes (thanks to a very supportive friend and Liam's money) but then shows up with pink hair, I almost fell off my chair laughing. She is there to help Liam through this mess he got himself into, but she is still her very original artistic self. Some of my favorite scenes are her with her "husband's" niece. This is a very satisfying addition to the fake fiancé/spouse group of books.
My thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy. My opinion is my own.
This book was not only so fun to read and witty, but Anna, the FMC, was just so charming and hilarious.
You will absolutely love this one if you love:
✨a witty FMC
✨a sweet MMC
✨marriage of convenience
✨opposite attracts
✨a refreshing romance
✨paradise setting
✨and a lil bit of spice
I have yet to find a Christina Lauren read that fails me, so get to it friends…it will not disappoint!
What a fun read! Finally a Christina Lauren book that delivered!
LOVED the overall plot and all the tropes involved! There is something for everyone. Fake dating/marriage, opposites attract, slow burn, dual pov. And add a dreamy tropical background! Anna as a MFL was a near perfect balance of being quirky and artsy with being practical and caring and empathetic. Liam slowly breaks down his walls and finally stands up to his family. I also love a good dual pov so we as the reader get insight into both characters and how they are experiencing the story. It makes it more rewarding to see the development and growth., The mix of banter, pop culture references, the slow burn made the story fun, upbeat and a quick read. Definitely perfect for a summer read!
My one drawback: it's just never super believable that all these feelings can build during the course of a week or two. I wish we had a little more backstory into their previous arrangement.
Always looking forward to another Christina Lauren!
This is a tough review for me to write. This was my first and will be my last book by Christina Lauren.
Good stuff - Five stars
🏖️ Great beach read
🏖️ Interesting characters
🏖️ Fun story
🏖️ Awesome female main character
Did not work - I wish some of the reviews would have had a warning. I would have never read the book.
☹️ Foul language - lots and lots of it
☹️ Detailed sex - over and over
I thought this was a stellar romance novel. My second Christina Lauren book. Great plot development and believable characters and conflict. Definitely recommend!
I love Christina Lauren's books, but the second-chance romance trope is one of my least favorite, so I went into this book with mid expectations. I am happy to say that I enjoyed it very much.
I adored both Anna and West. The differences in their upbringings and expectations made for some very believable conflict, but I liked watching them learn about each other and really begin to appreciate one another for their differences.
This book had a lot of fun moments, pop culture references, and good tension.
A great summer read!
