Morgan Brookes hasn’t had it easy and tracking a killer who is targeting survivors of other serial killers was a nice way to be introduced to such a well written character. It makes it even better when we find out Morgan knows the missing girl Lexi and that she was part of a final girls support group, making any one in that group a target.

Super happy to read another installment of the Morgan Brookes series by Helen Phifer.

I originally found the series via Bookouture's early reads, but now watch for them on NetGalley to find out what is happening next for Morgan and company. In book 11, Morgan is called to a scene involving a victim she was able to save in an earlier case. She discovers that this victim, along with several other young women, have formed a support group for survivors, and a new killer is intent on picking them off, one by one.

Phifer crafts another impressive segment of the series, bringing Morgan and the team back for a new mystery. Bringing back prior victims as the targets makes for an exceptionally interesting story as to the motives of the newest killer. I really enjoyed this one and can't wait for book 12!

Part of a series but totally acceptable as a stand-alone. This book pulls no punches, fast paced atmospheric story tell it warts and all. May be a bit much for some people. Thank you netgalley for the advanced copy

Another great book in the Morgan Brookes series set in the Lake district . This book involves near victims of previous episodes, is fast paced and well thought out . Enough detail to be realistic without going too far . Shortish chapters which make this a quick and easy read . I have read other books in this series, but it would be OK as a standalone . Some minor characters from previous books make an appearance here and although the emphasis on this book is definately on the (potential) crimes, it is good to know that Morgan's personal life is still going well
Thanks to Net Galley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review

Save Her Twice (Detective Morgan Brookes Book 11)
A completely unputdownable mystery and suspense thriller
by Helen Phife and here are my thoughts.

First thing is first… I have not read any of the other books in the series but it stands up perfectly well as a standalone so don’t let that fact this is book 11, stop you from emerging yourself in this work of art.

I love how well this book was written and it didn’t pull any punches when it came to the details. It was pretty graphic and it added to the atmosphere of the book. We get this book mostly Morgan's POV but the author has a clever way of writing and we get little glimpses of the killers POV and some of the girls. It was very well done.

If you are in the mood for a shockingly intense read that is excellently paced, grab this one. The book was dark without being overpoweringly so with some excellent twists and turns that will have you on the edge of your seat. I didn’t take a break in reading because I was physically unable to put the book down.

Might be one of the best thrillers I have read in ages.

4.5 stars! Genius writing.

Thank you @bookouture for allowing me onto this book tour and to @netgalley for my gifted copy.

Sometimes I think Morgan thinks she's a one-woman band. Although in this book she does tame it down a little, she still faces off with the killer at the end. At least this time she didn't go out looking for him...yet.

This is the eleventh book in the Detective Morgan Brooks series complete with her entourage of colourful characters from Susie to Declan to Theo to Cain. Not to forget Ben either who I'm sure is on his way to a heart attack with constantly looking out for Morgan.

This time round Morgan is called out to the discovery of blood at one woman's front door, frantic that she's unable to raise her daughter Lexie. Some years previously, Morgan saved Lexie and her mother from near death, both of them barely escaping with their lives. As it turns out, Lexie is one many young women in a survivors support group who call themselves "the final girls", having all survived the grip of a killer.

When Lexie's body is discovered soon after, another young woman from the group Milly confides that she believes she is being followed and describes the car she has seen on a number of occasions. Is the killer stalking these survivors to finish what their would-be killers never could?

But as Morgan delves deeper, she begins to realise that she too is in the killer's crosshairs.

As with the rest of this series, I enjoyed this mystery despite how predictable Morgan is becoming. The chapters are short and snappy keeping the pace moving along steadily. Actually this one was a quick read I managed to finish in just a few hours.

Overall, another exciting installment for Morgan and her team.

I would like to thank #HelenPhifer, #Netgalley and #Bookouture for an ARC of #SaveHerTwice in exchange for an honest review.

WoW!!!!!

Save Her Twice by Helen Phifer is the eleventh book in the superb Detective Morgan Brookes series. This was so good I ended up reading it in 1 sitting, so glad I had nothing planned for that day. Save her Twice was the best book so far, well all these book have been a 5 star read and this one was no different!

Detective Morgan Brooks and her team are called out to the local park which is a great hangout for teenagers in the evenings. But, tonight they were in for a big shock; whilst they were sitting undercover chatting. Blood was dripping onto the cold grass and they found a young woman, Detective Morgan Brooks gets a big shock when she sees who it is. Three years previously, she and her team was able to save Lexie and her mum. Lexie was a victim who barely escaped with her life. Now, Lexi is the dead woman who is in front her.

Lexie was one of many girls living in fear and these girls were part of a small support group of survivors, referring to themselves as the final girls.

Detective Brooks and her team now have to find out who and why Lexie was Murdered and by who!!

The clock is ticking..........

WoW.....This book was excellent and had great twists and turns throughout that will have you turning the pages and wanting more. This book was so hard to put down!!!

I highly recommend it. Another 5 star book!

Big thank you to netgalley and Bookouture and the fantastic author Helen Phifer for my ARC.

Just when I think this series can’t get any better, Helen Phifer probably cackling away, proves me wrong. This is tense, macabre and thrilling in the best way and this time she’s also throwing back to the best of slasher films as inspiration for the killer.

Morgan and the team are all back together, although being previously injured not all are at their best. There is one particular scene that had my heart racing and for the love of god what is it with authors and eyeballs lately?? I can cope with guts and gore but please leave the eyes alone.

Talking of leaving things alone when is the poor vicar going to get a break from being a suspect ha ha. Especially now he’s dating the lovely Declan who I’m very fond of.

With final girls being the targets it felt particularly cruel that they were once again in danger but with Morgan being the ultimate final girl will she survive to see book 12. I strongly suggest you read it to find out, just make sure you aren’t eating pizza when you do!

Save Her Twice is book 11 in the Detective Morgan Brookes series by Helen Phifer.
This was yet another great addition to the series.
I love that this book brought more spine tingling twists than the books before.
This was an entertaining, enthralling narrative with a complex yet intriguing plot.
I love the characters in this series. They are very well written and keep me so engaged.
The characters' depth and the immersive writing style create a palpable atmosphere with a relentless pace.

I’ve been on a streak of great police procedurals and this one joins that great bunch. I love those 80s horror movies which lends to me loving the idea of a group of final girls. This one not only has a group of final girls, but Morgan, has history with the victim. She previously saved her.

I love Morgan. Shes gutsy and fierce. She works so well with her team. I like all the main and secondary characters of the series. They are a well oiled machine and everyone works well with and protects each other.

My small chuckle in this one. It helped breakup the intense hunt. They thought they were looking for a Picasso. And every time I saw that my mind kept going wait, what? Why are they looking for a painting? It’s also apparently a European car.

But back to the story. It is a high stakes investigation since all the final girls are potential targets. The connection for Morgan adds an extra layer of incentive for her. The idea of attacking girls that have already survived attacks is dark and gripping. There wasn’t a shortage of suspects yet the story kept a fast pace and I didn’t want to put it down. The complex plot kept me wanting more.

This is one of my series that I can’t wait for the next book. The day after I finish the current one. This could be read as a stand alone, but once you read one, you are going to want to read them all.

An interesting twist for this book, where previously solved cases are pushed together with the survivors in danger. I enjoyed reading it, but living in the middle of the Lake District I may be a bit biased!
I do like it that these books can easily be read without needing to have read the previous ones; each book does stand on its own, no cliffhangers etc. But there is of course an story and character arc that runs through the series, so it is enjoyable to follow that.

There is a vile predator preying on women who are survivors. These women have already survived vicious, brutal attacks. Now they are being stalked and preyed upon again. They have formed a support group made up women who have survived attacks meant to take their lives and lived to tell their story. Needless to say their lives have been forever changed, and most of them suffer from crippling anxiety.

Morgan Brookes is called to a scene where a young girl is missing, and the only evidence is blood smeared on the front door and on the curb in front of the house. When Morgan realizes the missing girl is Lexie, a girl she saved from a serial killer before, she is more than distraught. When her body is found, Morgan is almost inconsolable. If you know Morgan Brookes you know this woman is tough, tenacious and pretty much fearless. This case may just break her. When they find out about the support group, they realize they will have to protect these women. To make this case even more difficult, Morgan is a survivor as well. Now they wonder if she will be a target as well.

This book made my skin crawl. These poor women already have to relive their nightmares daily from past memories. Now there is a homicidal maniac on the loose who will never stop hunting and killing unless Morgan and company can find him and stop him. I felt such empathy for these women and rage against this predator. This was a combination of action, intrigue and nerve shredding suspense. There was a razor sharp balance between creepy and compelling, as I could not stop reading it, even though it was creeping me out. One good point is that I can see Morgan and Ben's relationship getting stronger. Fans of this series, like myself, are happy to see this relationship building.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Detective Constable Morgan Brookes is back in a cracking story. That sees a sadistic killer target survivors of serial killers and Morgan herself.

As she has survived a few in her time and when Morgan and the team get the call that a young girl is missing and blood has been found on her front door. The last thing Morgan expects is to come face to face with Natalie White who along with her daughter Lexie survived a killer three years ago. But Lexie is now missing and Morgan and Natalie fear the worst.

And soon a body is discovered and the hunt for the killer begins and Morgan quickly learns Lexie was part of a group of survivors nicknamed the final girls who would meet regularly to support each other and Morgan fears one of them will be next.

So she is prepared to do anything to keep them safe.

But when she meets the group to try and learn crucial details, they all become targets. However, Ben and Theo arrive in time to save them. But that doesn't stop the killer from striking again at a target no one could've anticipated.

And from that moment on Morgan is willing to make any sacrifice necessary to stop this cruel killer in their tracks.

But in doing so, is she going to make the ultimate mistake and trust the wrong person?

And with plenty of close calls, twists and turns and a dramatic ending. This was a story I could not put down and it's one I read in just a few hours and I would happily recommend it to all.

Save Her Twice is book 11 in the Detective Morgan Brookes series by Helen Phifer. This series is one of my must reads with every new release and Save Her Twice is my favorite in the series so far! Save Her Twice is so suspenseful that you'll be jumping in fear throughout and good luck figuring out who is doing the killing! Helen Phifer has done it again and the ending will leave you out of breath as you realize you've been holding your breath as you flip the last 20 pages!! Wow!!

Morgan saved Lexie and her Mom, Natalie, from a serial killer 3 years ago. She got to them just in time and pulled the plastic bags off their head to give them the air they so desperately needed. That's why this case is so devastating and difficult. Morgan and her team are called to the park because a group of teenagers found a body dripping blood from the roof of one of the buildings in the park. They were there to have some pizza and watch a movie together. When something started dripping on them and the pizza boxes they realized it looked like blood. They then saw the body and went running as they called the police.

Who would kill someone and put them on a roof? How would they do this? Why would they do this? Natalie made a call to the police when she arrived home to a blood bath on her front door and stoop. She was immediately terrified that something had happened to Lexie because there was so much blood. Morgan goes up on the roof as best she can and the shock immediately hits her that the body is Lexie. She's not sure because of the blood on her face, but she knows it in her gut. When Natalie described what Lexie was wearing today, It was the exact outfit that the dead body was wearing. This case was going to be gut wrenching and emotional for Morgan as she had saved Lexie once, but was unable to Save Her Twice!

The police check to make sure that the serial killer who attempted to kill Lexie the first time was still in prison. He was. So who did this and knew about the plastic bag? Lexie had a plastic bag over her head again this time and that was something the police did not divulge the first time. As things progress, Morgan finds out that the survivors of serial killers have been meeting at the local church each month. They get together on different days and times each month so there's no pattern. They support each other and talk through their fears. Lexie was part of the group and Morgan must tell the others what happened to her. She also must warn them to be vigilant with their safety precautions. One of the other girls in the group spent the previous night at Lexie's house as her parents were out of town. She didn't want to be in a big house alone. The serial killer might have seen her, too.

One of Lexie's neighbors saw a silver car parked watching Lexie's house the past couple of days. The man was wearing black and seemed to be bald. Another girl in the group had noticed a silver car by the church. Was someone following the survivors? As Morgan goes to a meeting at the church with the other girls, things take a turn. Another girl is found dead and the girls are locked in the room at the church as someone sets it on fire. They're all trapped. Luckily, Morgan blocks the door where the smoke is coming in. Ben and Theo arrive just in time to pull the blockage from the door and let everyone out. The killer is getting brazen and won't stop until all of the survivors are dead, including Morgan!

This book grabs you from the start and it just gets more and more terrifying as you read. Will Morgan be able to figure out who's killing the survivors before more are killed? Will Morgan make it through this alive? I absolutely flew through the last 30 pages or so as the ending is unbelievable!! I rate Save Her Twice 5 stars with my very highest recommendation. If you've never read a book in the series, you can read this as a standalone, so don't miss this book! I'd like to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy of Save Her Twice in exchange for a fair review. #SaveHerTwice

Described as an “unputdownable read” I can vouch for that statement. Book 11 in the wonderful Detective Morgan Brooke’s series set in The Lake District this is perhaps the darkest murder mystery of the series. This time Morgan finds herself dealing with the past as a number of girls, members of a victim support group for survivors of serial killers, find themselves once again being hunted.

Briefly, one of the group is hideously murdered and Morgan is determined to both keep the rest of the girls safe and find the killer as quickly as possible. As usual she gets herself into trouble very quickly as despite her best efforts more deaths are occurring. Who is the mysterious driver seen watching some of the girls and why do they want the girls, including Morgan, dead?

Be aware some scenes are described in a pretty gruesome manner but does it diminish this excellent read? Hell no! Although mostly written from Morgan’s POV there are some chapters from the killer and some from the girls, all adding to the background and the tension. And there is plenty of the latter in this dark, fast paced and exciting read. Fabulous

I’d like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Save Her Twice’, book 11 in the Detective Morgan Brookes series written by Helen Phifer, in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

A support group called ‘The Final Girls’ has been formed for women who’ve been victims of serial killers in Rydal Falls. The body of one of the members, Lexie, is found on top of a shelter in the park and DC Morgan Brookes is determined to keep the other women safe until they stop the person responsible. But the killer has a list of women he intends to kill and Morgan is on the list.

‘Save Her Twice’ is a fast-paced thriller based in the Lake District where a killer plans to destroy women who’ve been attacked previously but their lives have been saved. The plot has suspense, drama and intrigue with plenty of twists and turns and a conclusion where once again Morgan risks her life. This is an exciting police thriller that’s had me hooked from page one and I’ve enjoyed so much I’ve read it in a day.
