Save Her Twice
Helen Phifer
February 07, 2024

Helen Phifer’s latest novel brings us back to Rydal Falls in England. The crews are busy looking for clues via CCTV, neighborhood visits, and telephone calls. A mother has called in to report her daughter has not arrived home. Lexie had left to spend time with her friends the evening before. They had planned to get together over pizza in the park. It’s always a time to chat, play games and enjoy their meal. This time someone kicked a ball to the roof. It hit the ceiling and made a crack. All laughed until strange, red drops began to fall though the splintered wood.
Save Her Twice will be published on February 07, 2024 by bookoutre. This is Phifer’s 11th in her Detective Morgan Brookes series. I was able to read the ARC via NetGalley. Since the first book came out in the series I have been hooked on this incredible mystery series. The suspense is on edge and the fact that all the characters are English makes the reader very aware of the Rydal Falls small town. Language is in the traditional English dialect. It’s enjoyable to read. Each new Brookes novel is heavy duty suspense. Save Her Twice is a page-turner, don’t miss it!

Yahoo! Another fantastic book from Helen Phifer and the Morgan Brookes series. Save her Twice is the 11th book in this fantastic polic procedural series.

Book 11 revisits some of the previously saved girls from a host of serial killers in previous books as they become the targets for yet another serial killer who is coming to 'finish the job'.

The development of the characters is really good. I have enjoyed reading thru the series and watching the development of Morgan, Ben and many of the characters. The twists are a plenty and it kept me guessing right til the end. I very much enjoy the relationships between the team and how they work together.

I highly recommend Save her Twice but also the entire series.

Thank you Helen Phifer, Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I’ve really enjoyed this series. Helen Phifer never disappoints. Book 11 is every bit as good as book 1. I actually think this series has improved over time. Detective Morgan Brookes has become a stronger character and more interesting to read about. She battles through another dark and dangerous case but will stop at nothing to get the criminals.
Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and share this book.

This is the 11th in the Detective Morgan Brookes series. I have enjoyed this series, and I can’t wait until the next book comes out in the series. Phifer has done such a great job with her character development of Morgan, Ben and so many of the other wonderful characters in this series. This book can be read as a standalone, but you don’t appreciate the characters without starting from book one. Morgan is called on a missing person case where blood was found all around the front of the house. Morgan finds out that the missing girl, Lexie was someone that she saved three years ago from a serial killer. A few hours later they find Lexie’s body and it had been cut up so badly with a plastic bag around her head. Morgan finds out that Lexie belongs to a group of women that Morgan had saved from serial killers. It looks like this killer has decided that they shouldn’t live. Follow Detective Brookes and her team to see if she can catch this killer before he strikes again. I highly recommend this book and the series. Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for providing an advanced reader’s copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Book 11 in this series and it is still going strong. Love Morgan and her team.
This one sees Morgan and team try and catch the murderer of a young lady who they have had contact with before so it is quite personal to Morgan. Another great read and looking forward to next thank you for advanced copy.

This is book 11 in the series and as such should be read in order.

Morgan is once more thrust into the depths of a complex investigation, but this time it’s a bit more personal. People she has previously known from other investigations are back and being targeted once again. As the days pass the investigation gets more complicated and Morgan has to dig deep to figure out what is going on. Can she work out who the culprit is, or will she be made to believe lies instead?

Another brilliant addition to a great series from the author.

Save her Twice is book 11 in the In the Detective Morgan Brookes series and how time has flown.
Three years ago, Morgan saved Lexie from a serial Killer, who is now behind bars. But now she has failed her, when she enters an abandoned building, and finds Lexie stone cold dead body.
When they investigate in her surrounding neighbourhood. They find out that Lexie has been followed prior to her death. Even probably to the support group for other survivors. Morgan knows she has a copycat killer on her hands. But when one other member of the group is also murdered. She knows that there is a serial killer on the loose of the other members. Which Morgan helped put the killers away. Not only are the rest of the group lives being in danger but again, Morgan’s is too.
Thank you Bookoutre for and Helen Phifer ‘Save her twice’ Book 11 in this series. This is another fabulous, fast-paced gripping read from the author, but I love the characters in this series and the camaraderie between them. Especially the feisty, quirky character of Morgan. She is always in the thick of it, with the infuriates Ben because he thinks that something bad will happen to her. This has a great twist at the ending that you won’t see coming. 5 stars from me.

I do love this series, I haven't read all of them but I have read enough to get the backstory. I think it would work without reading the previous ones but if you do it just adds to it. The location just adds to an eeriness and you just cant imagine such violent crimes happening there. In this book as an aside I loved how Ian was brought in, all knowing and he was going to do everything his way, looking forward to him being put down before he goes back to headquarters.

The crime itself was interesting and worked well, there was a section where I did cry a little (you will know when you get to it).

I was given an advance copy by bookouture and netgalley but the review is entirely my own

This talented author hooked me from the beginning…Detective Brookes again…a serial killer…whew…this one could be a Criminal Minds’ episode for sure. Red herrings kept me guessing…secrets…family and friends.. even the title is intriguing. This mystery is not an easy read. It is painful at times.

Trouble seems always to find Detective Morgan Brookes, and she has escaped death multiple times. In this new book, Morgan works a case in which a murderer is targeting "last girls," women who were the only survivors of serial killers. The women have formed a support group and even invited Morgan to be a member, since she was involved each of their cases and is herself a "last girl." It's an exciting race for Morgan and her team to find and stop the perp before all of the women become victims. Assisted by her boss and life partner, Morgan once again will try to be the survivor and successfully end the killing.

This wasn't my fav in the series but still a really well written, top class police proceedural/ thriller. Its told from dual perspectives with a narration from the killer and its really well done and raises a lot of questions about the mind of a murdered. The plot was fast paced and suitably unnerving. Another amazing installment

I have liked Morgan from the very first time I 'met' her and I love ther more each time I read the next book in the series.

I sometimes pity Ben, because Morgan seems to attract killers like a light attracts moths and every time he lets her out of his sight, he must be fearing the worst.

But Morgan is not your average woman neither your average police officer. Although she has looked death in the eye more than once, it will never ever stop her from doing her utmost to stop the villain.

Who is this maniac roaming the streets thinking he is the best of the worst?

The police does not really have a clue and like the saying goes 'don't call us, we'll call you' it can be altered a bit to fit this book. If Morgan cannot find the killer, you may be certain the killer will find her...

I compare this series to a crown where each story is a gemstone to be added to it. 5 stars

Thank you

This was my first read of this author/series. I found this book included enough background to be able to enjoy it as a standalone and a good balance on the depth of the characters that likely have been developed more fully in past novels. Overall I would pick up another by this author as a quick mystery read. I felt the description of dark and twisty a bit overstated, but maybe I've just read too many shocking books.

I was initially drawn to this book on the premise that the killer was targeting previous survivors, but this premise also means the author has to give some info that might spoil other books in this series. The story started off strong with a fair bit of Criminal Minds-eque profiling. What motivates this killer? How is he learning details of these past crimes? As the book progresses this aspect kind of falls off and I think the author is counting on the emotional connection you have to the characters to keep you engaged. Having not read any of the past books this was a bit lacking for me personally, though the ending was fast paced enough to keep me reading. A few times throughout this book I found myself trying to read faster to get to what I guessed was coming. I would recommend this book to those who are fans of this series, if this is your first book by Phifer I would suggest starting elsewhere and making your way to this one later when you've been able to savour some of the characters a bit more fully.

Morgan and Ben are back to investigate the murder of one of the Final Girls, a survivor from a previous case. When it appears someone is targeting these survivors they race against the clock to solve the case.
As always reading this series is like reconnecting with family and characters you know and love. Fast paced and the usual wit and gore I love in these books.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

A group of young women who are survivors of attacks have formed a support group. They are all “final girls”, the women who lived. Now it seems someone is trying to kill them off. One of them, Lexie, is already dead. This is personal for Detective Morgan Brookes, herself considered a “final girl”, also having survived attacks by perpetrators of some of those crimes and she feels guilty that she was not able to save Lexie a second time. All of them are in grave danger.

This is the eleventh in the Morgan Brookes series; I have read three of them. This is another engrossing, if somewhat macabre, fast paced read for those who enjoy British police procedurals, mysteries, and thrillers. It works well as a standalone, but you will have a better understanding and appreciation of the characters background if you read some of the earlier ones as well.

I have added Phifer’s Morgan Brookes series to my list of mystery/thrillers I enjoy that feature capable female detectives with amiable supporting characters.

I just wrote a review for another Helen Phifer book, in which I said that I was drawn to it because I had enjoyed her other series. This series was exactly to which I referred. I really like Morgan as a character and I like the world-building that Phifer has done beyond Morgan. It always seems a little statistically unlikely that so much trauma would concentrate itself in such a small area, but I grew up following the adventures of the writer from Cabot Cove, so I'm inoculated against such speculation. Keep 'em coming, I say.

I do enjoy reading this series but for the love of God can we have a book where Morgan isn't targeted by a serial killer. It's beyond ridiculous and feels like the author is struggling for ideas.
