Jonathon Darcy and Juliet Tilney, teenage amateur sleuths, are once again together in this third book in the series. They are summoned by Jonathan’s Aunt Catherine de Bourgh, a wealthy and difficult relation to solve the mystery of who is trying to kill her. Austen style mystery and characters. I enjoy these novels.

I love this historical fiction mystery series based on Jane Austen's characters! The author does a great job of keeping the personalities and mannerisms of the original characters which makes this book such a fun read! I loved having Jonathan and Juliet back together while figuring out who was trying to dispose of Lady Catherine. There were so many red herrings in this book that it was difficult to figure out who was out for revenge on Lady Catherine. Every character seemed to have a motive and means. There were several exciting parts in the story, my favorite being the archery tournament, but things stalled a little in the middle. The ending was a bit of a disappointment with several relationships being left broken including the friendship between Jonathan and Juliet. I wanted them to confess their true feelings for one another and end up together. I am interested to read the next book in the series to see if things improve in their favor.

Thank you NetGalley and Knopf, Pantheon, Vintage, and Anchor Books for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

Synopsis:
Someone is trying to kill Lady Catherine de Bourgh, Aunt of Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy, patroness of Mr. Collins, ruler of the estate of Rosings Park. Who would dare? Lady Catherine summons her grand-nephew, Mr. Jonathan Darcy, and his investigative partner, Miss Juliet Tilney, to find out in Book 3 of this collection. With attempts against Lady Catherine escalating, and none of the prime suspects seeming capable of committing the attacks, time is running out and the pressure is mounting on Jonathan and Juliet. Even as more gentle feelings between the two of them begin to bloom.

My thoughts:
Calling all Jane Austen lovers. I find this series so fun as a frequent Austen re-reader. To return to these characters in a fresh way is always a treat. The murder mystery element keeps you on your toes. The pacing occasionally drags a little. Some of the characters make me want to pull my hair out. But all in all, it's an interesting, fun, easy read. I would recommend for period piece, Jane Austen, and murder mystery fans.

Juliet Tilney and Jonathan Darcy have been summoned by Lady Catherine after three attempts on her life are made. Juliet and Jonathan must solve the mystery before the murderer is successful.

As with all the books in this series, I enjoy all the secrets the characters have that are slowly revealed. I thought the addition of Lady Catherine as the potential victim who has many opinions on the subject of her own murder was a very fun twist on the previous two books. I was frustrated by Juliet and Jonathan's lack of communication about their feelings for one another, but hopefully there will be more books in this series to resolve that issue.

The Perils of Lady Catherine De Bourgh is the third book in Claudia Gray’s Mr. Darcy & Miss Tilney Mystery series, which follows Jane Austen’s famous characters from multiple novels. The first two books, The Murder of Mr. Wickham and The Late Mrs. Willoughby, are great fun. And so is The Perils of Lady Catherine De Bourgh.

Author Claudia Gray has crafted a timeline in which all of Austen’s characters fit: Darcy and Elizabeth have a grown son, and Catherine Morland and Henry Tilney have a grown daughter. Charlotte and Mr. Collins have two children and Lady Catherine’s daughter, Anne has married Colonel Fitzwilliam.

Gray has expertly created a world that is an extension of Austen’s. Her writing style is warm and comfortable but in keeping with the source material and progression of time.

In this latest offering, Jonathan and Juliet are beginning to realize just how much they admire each other and perhaps their hopes for the future. That’s an undercurrent that flows seamlessly with their shared goal of saving Lady Catherine.

Though this book isn’t a “page-turner” it does — like many of Austen’s novels — progress at a comfortable pace with lots of ups and downs to keep interest. And Gray had me guessing to the end who the real culprit was.

You could, in theory, read The Perils of Lady Catherine De Bourgh without reading its predecessors. But with a series this delightful, it’s worth reading them all — in order.

While not specifically a young adult novel, The Perils of Lady Catherin De Bourgh is an enjoyable mystery perfect for Jane Austen fans of any age.

I loved the latest episode in this series. The character development has built and I enjoyed that we had fewer characters who we had the chance to know more deeply. A fun read!

Claudia Gray has done it again! A fantastic addition to the series. I cannot wait for the next installment!

A „historical" cozy mystery set in a fictional realm? Don't doubt it, just try it, it totally works !
Lady Catherine DeBourgh in all her haughty splendor is worried since there have been attempts made on her life. Were those attempts to intimidate her or is someone actually out for her life ? And in her insular way of life who actually has a motive? Knowing that Jonathan Darcy and Juliet Tilney have assisted I solving two previous cases she invites the two of them and their respective chaperones to figure out who the would be murderer is before being actually murdered.
Austen's characters were updated to work in a cozy mystery and at the same time kept true to character, this series is so well done I truly love it ! As a huge fan of Jane Austen, I do not live every retelling or spin off but the Mr. Darcy & Miss Tilney series is so well done.
Featuring offspring of Pride & Prejudice and Northanger Abbey protagonists, the series features appearances of characters from Austen's other novels. The Perils of Lady Catherine De Bourgh is the third novel in the series i would recommend reading them in order and definitely recommend reading them if you like Austen or historical mysteries !

Jonathan Darcy and Juliet Tinley, children of beloved Austen characters, are back to solve another mystery in this third book of the series. The tone is delightful and our main characters have unique and intriguing personalities. It's another amazing read that fans of Austen and cozy mysteries will be sure to enjoy.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. My review is voluntary and the opinions expressed are my own.

The third installment of the Darcy/ Juliet Tilney is just as fun and cozy as the first two. In this book, Mr. Jonathan Darcy and Miss Tilney are summoned to the home of Jonathan’s great aunt, Lady Catherine de Bourgh, as someone is trying to kill her.

Like the earlier books, the Austen cinematic universe collides characters from many of her well-known novels. Jonathan and Juliet, while working in investigating the case, also have a very slow burn romance. I also love the neurodivergent characters and how they experience this world of civility and harsh societal expectations.

Highly recommend for fans of Austen (obvi) and Bridgerton. Definitely read the series in order!

I have so enjoyed the Darcy and Tilney novels and I found myself eagerly awaiting their newest adventure. In most cases it did not disappoint but I found it moved slower than the previous two.

Jonathan Darcy and Juliet Tilney find themselves summoned to the home of Lady Catherine de Bourgh upon her command as her life has been threatened not just one time but several. It has been roughly a year since Darcy and Tilney's last encounter and both find themselves eager to see each other again. Jonathan is accompanied by his father and Juliet by her father. The home of Lady Catherine has not changed much and she shares the home with her daughter, Anne, and Anne's husband, Colonel FitzWilliam. The Collins family (with two older children) are also still in attendance. Gray is at her strongest when re-creating Austen's characters and their mannerisms. Lady Catherine is just as atrocious as before and Mr. Collins is just as syrupy sweet with his love and praise of Lady Catherine. All is not as happy as it seems and, through many twists and turns, Jonathan and Juliet find themselves wading through the information to find who is responsible for the attempts on Lady Catherine as well as exploring their friendship. A cozy read for sure!

4.5 stars

I loved reading about these characters again, especially Jonathan and Juliet! God there’s is such a slow burn!!! I was excited to read about Lady Catherine de Bourgh and the Collins’s as well! It was hilarious to see their attitudes and how they are faring.

The mystery itself felt a little drawn out to me and I think it would have liked it if it was shorter.

I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Juliet Tilney and Jonathan Darcy are back in the third installment of Claudia Gray's mystery series based on Jane Austen's characters. This time, however, instead of solving murders, they are tasked with preventing one: Lady Catherine de Bourgh's, Jonathan's great-aunt. Jonathan's father (Mr. Darcy) and Juliet's father (Mr. Tilney) tag along, and it's clear the two fathers do not like each other or the possibility of a match between their children. A part of me found this funny, but a bigger part of me found their behavior annoying because they are absolutely getting in the way of Juliet and Jonathan's happiness.

I would classify this series as "slow burn" in all ways. The mysteries meander and the the possibility of romance is definitely a slow burn. I don't mean any of this as negative though--I thoroughly enjoy this series and while this third book did feel slower, I found aspects of it compelling, especially exploring Pride & Prejudice characters such as Lady Catherine, her daughter Anne, Colonel Fitzwilliam, Charlotte Collins (Lucas), and Mr. Collins as they could be many years after the end of P&P. Charlotte Collins was especially interesting--especially when comparing her life to Elizabeth's. While there was a mystery to solve, this novel feels more like a deep character study. As always, I enjoyed our sleuths Juliet and Jonathan, and their thoughts and feelings about each other.

I love this series, and I recommend this for those who enjoy Jane Austen retellings and historical mysteries! This is a series you should really read in order!

Someone is trying to kill Lady Catherine de Bourgh. Esteemed aunt of Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy, generous patroness of Mr. William Collins, a woman of rank who rules over the estate of Rosings Park with an unimpeachable sense of propriety—who would dare? Lady Catherine summons her grand-nephew, Mr. Jonathan Darcy, and his investigative companion, Miss Juliet Tilney, to find out.

After a year apart, Jonathan and Juliet are thrilled to be reunited, even if the circumstances—finding whoever has thus far sabotaged Lady Catherine's carriage, shot at her, and nearly pushed her down the stairs—are less than ideal. Also less than ideal: their respective fathers, Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy and Mr. Henry Tilney, have accompanied the young detectives to Rosings, and the two men do not interact with the same felicity enjoyed by their children.

With attempts against Lady Catherine escalating, and no one among the list of prime suspects seemingly capable of committing all of the attacks, the pressure on Jonathan and Juliet mounts—even as more gentle feelings between the two of them begin to bloom. The race is now on to provoke two confessions: one from the attempted murderer before it is too late—and one, perhaps, of love.

I ABSOLUTELY ADORE CLAUDIA GRAY! I also really love this series. Though the reason I took a point off was because GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT ALREADY, CLAUDIA! YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN!

The novel is perfect. Someone trying to kill Lady Catherine, which anyone who has read Pride and Prejudice wouldn’t really blame them. Though I do find that Miss Gray might be causing Mr. Darcy (senior) to back slide a bit in personality. I sincerely hope that the next novel redeems the man.

Overall, I rate this novel 4 out of 5 stars.

A very cute continuation in the series featuring Darcy and Elizabeth's son, Jonathan, who is a sweet, awkward & shy young man with an excellent mind. And the Tilney's daughter, Juliet, an effervescent girl, also with an excellent mind. They are required to appear at Rosings to solve the attempted murder of Lady Catherine herself. The nerve! Both of these lovely characters are excited to see each other again and to solve a mystery as well. There aren't many clues in this book, requiring a lot of interviews and questions dragging the story somewhat, but Jonathan & Juliet are worth it.

I love love love this series so much. This is the third in the series and I hope it never ends but also I need to get these two main characters courting before I lose my mind.

This book centers around everyones favorite snooty aunt Lady Catherine de Bourgh and her most quotably annoying clergyman Mr Collins. I really enjoyed this one since Pride and Prejudice is my favorite of the books and this featured so many great characters. I was surprised by some of what occurred for sure, and definitely the way the characters evolved. I really was interested in Anne and finally learning more about her and her future.

Do not miss this one and this series.

Another delightfully mysterious Regency adventure with Mr. Jonathan Darcy and Miss Juliet Tilney! This highly entertaining series continues to build upon the foundation of all of Austen’s myriad characters and settings with wit and heart. So diverting!

Thanks to Vintage/Viking Books and Net Galley for the digital copy of this book. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is the third book in a series of mysteries surrounding characters in the Jane Austen orbit. You do not need to be a fan of Jan Austen (although it helps), just a lover of cozy historical mysteries. And while this mystery can be enjoyed if you haven’t read the previous two volumes, I do recommend it because it adds to the nuance of this volume (and they are just darn good!) The reason I like this series (because I’m not an obsessive Jane Austen fan) is the depiction of Jonathan Darcy. It is clear, in today’s world, he would be diagnosed on the autism spectrum due to his discomfort in social situations and other “tells,” but he uses them to his advantage. Juliet Tilney’s patience and understanding with him as they sus out clues and solve the mystery is endearing. This book has it all: a cozy mystery in the vein of Agatha Christie, set in Jane Austen’s world, with all the flashes of wit and smarts you’d expect from the genre.

This one was my least favorite in the series so far sadly. I am normally hard pressed to sit this book down or take a break. But I couldn’t truly lose myself in this book. It was dreadfully slow and tedious. I was hoping this would be the book where the courting started but once again…no. I will continue to read this serious but this one sadly let me down. 3⭐️

I loved this third book in the Mr. Darcy & Miss Tilney Mystery series.

Someone is trying to kill Lady Catherine de Bourgh; imagine that! There are several potential suspects from Mr. Collins, Colonel Fitzwilliam, or any number of people she has bulldozed over the years.

The main sleuths in this series are the team of Jonathan Darcy, nephew to Lady Catherine de Bourgh, and Miss Juliet Tilney. Jonathan and Juliet are so delightful together, but so far the books in the series left me wishing for more romance from these two.

Colonel Fitzwilliam has always been an interesting character to me from his first appearance in Pride and Prejudice. I am so glad he plays a part in this mystery. Honestly, I’d love for him to get his own book.

This mystery is twisty and full of red herrings, but also keeps a light and humorous tone. I highly recommend this series to historical mystery and Jane Austen fans.
