Such a lovely cookbook. As someone with an Italian grandmother who was sadly not a baker, and didn't have her mom's recipes to pass on to me it was a joy to see the recipes in here. Thank you for the advance copy!

This book is a wonderful addition to the crowded field of Italian baking books. The author, James Beard award recipient, has a popular bakery Ciao, Gloria, a veritable proof that his recipes work. In his book, Renato Poliafito talks about his American-Italian upbringing and his quest to marry two cuisines' favorites. The book has traditional Italian recipes and American recipes 'with Italian accent'. All the recipes' measurements are given in weights and volume, this way the need for error-prone conversions is eliminated for those who prefer one method over the other. However, his point that weighing your ingredients produces better results is well-made; he convinced me! The instructions are easy to follow making this book a boon for both beginners and experienced bakers. The book is also very visually pleasing, it has lots of gorgeous photographs. I would recommend this book even to those who already have extensive cookbooks collection.

You had me at La Dolce Vita and something sweet for breakfast and it only got so much better after that. This is the Italian cookbook I have been waiting for. It not only has all my favorites: crostini, taralli, biscotti, foccaccia, Mancini, but so many more things to try. The photographs of the recipes and Italy and Brooklyn are so beautiful. Besides looking at pictures of food, I was able to reminisce of my time in Italy through these pictures. But back to the food pictures, there is a picture of a tin of cookies that made my mouth water! So many recipes to try. The almond torta with roasted plums looks divine. Thank you to NetGalley and Knopf, Pantheon, Vintage, and Anchor for providing a galley of this cookbook that I will cherish for many years to come!

Dolci is utterly beautiful! The recipes varied in difficulty and all sounded delicious. Desserts list grams and teaspoons/tablespoons measurements side by side for ease. The photographs of Italy and the food are gorgeous. Will I dare to make homemade gelato this summer? Maybe!!! Thanks to Dolci! I can if I want to!
