A thrilling dive into the world of probation and crime, and an exhilarating debut that blends suspense, realism, and a touch of humor. The writing is sharp and engaging.

In "Obey All Laws," Cindy Goyette crafts a compelling narrative that blends sharp social commentary with humorous anecdotes. Her writing style effortlessly navigates between satire and introspection, offering readers a fresh perspective on conformity and autonomy. Through vivid storytelling and astute observations, Goyette encourages us to rethink the rules we live by and the implications of our choices. Her witty prose and keen insights make "Obey All Laws" not just a delightful read, but also a thought-provoking exploration of human behavior and societal expectations. It's a book that entertains, challenges, and leaves a lasting impression on its audience.
Thank you to Netgalley for a review copy.

This is a different sort of mystery than I expected it to be – in a good way. There is a feeling of watching a TV show play out while the story moves on.

The central protagonist is a probation officer. The author has experience with the profession and this shows in the mundane information that is actually interesting and adds a little something extra to the story.

We begin with our leading lady putting herself in harm’s way while helping a cousin in the same profession. A cryptic message later this cousin vanishes and then begins an investigation with a lot of twists.

I really enjoyed the actual writing and the scene-building. The various people who make up the take were the reason I read the book as quickly as I did. I would have eaten it higher just for that. However, I was not as interested in the ending itself. I must admit to being surprised by it but I was not as invested in it as I should have been given all the buildup until that point.
I would love to read another book by the author and would recommend this to fans of spunky lead characters in unique job roles.

I received an ARC thanks to Netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely based on my own reading experience.

The life of a Probation Officer is both a challenge and dangerous. This book packs a punch with its insights into the wrong side of the law, well worth the read!
The story follows some amazing characters, their life choices have shaped both their attitude and outlook on life. Casey is a Probation Officer with heart, her life is devoted to helping others and trying to bring change to those that need a push in the right direction!
I particularly enjoyed the feel of realism, Casey is attacked but continues facing danger to solve crimes and work within the system.
The characters all join right into the action, hopefully the mystery and suspense will continue into the next book of this series.

Congratulations and thanks to Level Best Books, NetGalley and Cindy Goyette for the opportunity to read this book..
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book will have to be a series. From the beginning to the ending you will be fascinated and want to read the book in one sitting. A page turner that shows how dangerous life can change on a dime and that probation officers put their life in jeopardy everyday. This author is an amazing writer and storyteller. A must read.

This is a bit far fetched novel of a probation officer, Casey, who is trying to find her cousin (also a probation officer) after she goes missing - and after the main character is attacked by a probationer. It's a quick read, but I am not sure how compelling the story is. We have a drug cartel, a ex-husband who is a cop, and still in love with Casey. An new neighbor is convinently always around, and is described like a greek god. And a once-over-weight, but now slim and horny cousin who has come to try to help find her sister.

Yeah, it's kind of a mess. But if you can get over all of these cliches, the story is ok, but I don't think I will be looking for a follow up novel. I do appreciate having had the advanced readers copy from the publisher.

Casey Carson is a seasoned, savvy PO officer. She is also a main character you can identify with and she’s smart when it comes to her job.

The author has packed some very likable characters behind her engaging main character, including an ex-husband that you keep asking why “ex”?

"Detective Barry Betz that is, got out and walked toward me, shaking his head. He looked good. Damn it."

From the opening action-packed chapter through the sub-plot with Casey’s cousin, the well-plotted narrative doesn’t lag. When Hope’s sister Joy arrives to help—it doesn’t.

I love the dry sense of humor from first person POV and the twists and turns. I liked the ex. And the new neighbor adds tension, suspicion, and a little fun.

I love the unique aspect coming from that side of the law. I was fairly familiar with the area—and the heat—so descriptions gave it an atmospheric and comfortably recognizable quality.

A great start for a new series and one I’m looking forward to. I received a complimentary review copy of this book from the author and publisher through @NetGalley that in no way influenced this review. These are my honest thoughts. 4.5 stars

This book starts with Casey fighting with a guy that she was seeing for another P.O. and from there the book never lets up/ of course along the way she is dealing with the death of her mother, her cousin being missing, her other cousin being kidnapped an ex-husband who is a detective who is still trying to protect her but she won’t stay in one place long enough for that to happen. An excellent story fast paced with good characters and very much worth the read.

I really enjoyed this book. I was able to feel the characters and their emotions. I loved the character building, it wasn't too much, but still enough. I actually didn't guess the twist at all, which made me happy!

Casey Carson knew she was in trouble as soon as soon as Javier Ramirez opened the door in Obey All Laws: A Probation Case Files Mystery by Cindy Goyette. When she went out to his home to let him know that she was his new probation officer, she had no idea that he was at least six foot four, bulked out thanks to his recent stay in an Arizona Department of Corrections facility, or that was a member of one of the very dangerous Phoenix area gangs. He is most displeased to see her.

Among his issues, is that she is not her cousin Hope Carson. Hope passed the case off to Casey and claimed something about she had a conflict of interest. She told Casey next to nothing and now she has an enraged Javier Ramirez on her hands. It isn’t long before he snaps and gets physical with her.

In the violent aftermath, and she was very lucky to survive, Hope promises to meet her and tell her some stuff. That never happens as soon she is missing. Casey, along with the help of Phoenix Detective, Barry Betz (Casey’s ex), try to find her and that increases the danger level for both of them.

At the same time, Casey also has other clients that she needs to find and work with as they navigate the system, questions about her mother’s recent suicide, and an attractive neighbor just moved in, and lots of other things are happening in Obey All Laws: A Probation Case Files Mystery by Cindy Goyette.

Billed as the first book of a series by the publisher, Level Best Books, the read is a very good one. A complex main character, as well as an extensive supporting cast with their own backstories and complexities, plenty of action, and a twisting and increasingly violent mystery make this one a fun read. If it had come out last year, it would have made my best of the year list.

Obey All Laws: A Probation Case Files Mystery by Cindy Goyette is a mighty good read and well worth your time. It is currently scheduled to come out the 9th, next Tuesday.

My ARC digital reading copy came by way of the publisher, Level Best Books, and NetGalley.

A somewhat funny and dramatic, but realistic view on life as a PO when things don't go as planned. Still recovering from the recent loss of her mother, Casey is forced into a whirlwind situation one after another.

This debut novel was full of everything - drama, romance, excitement, thrilling chases, and so much more! I could not wait to get to the end and find out who was behind it all!

This book is easy to read, entertaining and pretty fast. The plot is very good, with a few twists. The characters are realistic, including a main character that definitely isn't the smartest, but that's OK.

You can’t help but like a book that starts out with a scene like this one between Casey, probation officer, and her new client Javier Ramirez. She wasn’t warned but she sees the tattoos that indicate he’s a member of a dangerous motorcycle gang, and they have a fracas that ends up with Casey putting her keys in Javier’s eye. From there the story becomes a matter of life or death for Casey. With the help of her ex-husband and her own will to live she manages to stay alive. This was a debut novel for the author and it is well written with lots of twists and turns. I received an arc of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.

From the first page, Obey All Laws had me hooked! I found the novel so propulsive and laced with realism, wit and heart. Cindy Goyette has crafted a main character, Casey Carson, who is relatable and one to root for. I especially loved the twists and turns! (And that opening scene...so good!) Couldn't believe it was a debut.

I can hardly wait to see what the author has in store for Casey next!
