Whether you're new to crochet or looking to expand your skills, "Wonderful World of Amigurumi" offers a delightful journey into the world of crochet animals, with plenty of tips and inspiration along the way.
This book has got to have some of the cutest creations that I have ever seen. Each one is so darling and special in its own way. Thankfully, Khuc Cay has provided great instructions that make it easy to create these special animals.
She starts with basic instructions on how to crochet and even embroidery work. Of course, she provides a list of which types of supplies you will need to finish these projects, as well as which brands of yarns that she likes to work with. There are also great tips such as putting blush on the cheeks of your creations to increase their cuteness factor. She also gives tips on how to make them bigger if you would like.
Before the instructions for each amigurumi, she tells you a little bit about its personality. For instance, the picture on the cover of the book is of Onni the Platypus and he likes to hang out near the water eating ice cream.
The instructions include information on who it is rated for (beginner, intermediate, advanced), the tools you will need, the completed size, and the yarns you will need. You always have the option to change the colors of the yarn to make it more personalized. In fact, for Felipe the Fennec Fox, she provides you with two color palettes to show the possibilities. On Keiko the Crocodile's instructions, she demonstrates creating two different sized animals with the same pattern.
I just really can't get over how adorable these creatures are. Even Sunny the Anglerfish is cute (and they are very ugly in real life!).
Thank you NetGalley and Fox Chapel Publishing for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an open and honest review.
I loved looking through this book and seeing some cute amigurumi! I will be making some of these in my free time!
So cute ! Pretty models, original, very well explained patterns, very beautiful photos, a very good book for very nice amigurumis
This book looks amazing for beginner in amigurumi (I´m including myself here). There are so many figures that you can create with this book, all with their own step by step instructions. All of them are very original and really, really, really cute, which I appreciated a lot! <3
I formed a love of crocheting over the pandemic and this book is a great addition to crocheting blankets and hats. It is easy to follow and the results are so cute!
Khuc is an experienced designer, with their own website and many adorable pattern on Ravelry (Ravelry: Pattern Search). This book is clear and informative, with very cute patterns. It begins with a comprehensive introduction to this style of crochet, including what tools the crafter needs, and continues to detailed, well written patters. Mainly the design (of both the projects and the book) feels clean, like a craft space just after it's been tidied, when you are ready to sit down and start working or playing.
The patterns themselves are for very cute creatures, including an anthropomorphic mushroom, adorable monkey and an anglerfish that I really want to make.
I read this during the (thankfully brief) period when I was able to crotchet but not knit due to an injury, and it was very comforting to know that there is still so much cuteness and fun in the crafting world.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the e-Arc.

this is such a charming book! there's well-written intro sections with great instructions for the basics and all of the amigurumi themselves are adorable. I will say that I did some modifications when crocheting the mushroom––the cap was weirdly sized, so I did another round on it––but besides that this was great! highly recommend for anyone wanting to make some cute amigurumi creations (especially the mermaid).
The instructions and pictures are clear and easy to follow, even for someone at the late beginner/barely intermediate level. The designs are also extremely cute which is a big selling point
A fantastically unique amigurumi crochet book. I am new to the series, but I will definitely look into the prior two books, after reading this one. Khuc not only provides detailed instructions for any those at any crochet level, but also a passion that seeps through the pages. The amigurumis are a great unique selection and Khuc brings a real imaginative personality to the characters. The patterns are very easily laid out to follow and understand. I recommend this book to my fellow crochet enthusiasts to brighten up your amigurumi project list and learn new tips.
Awesome book with very easy patterns detailed enough to make it very friendly to follow!
Totally recommend to anyone wanting to learn how to make crochet plushies!
The patterns in this book are absolutely adorable! The book includes a bee, a cat, a mushroom, an anglerfish and a deer to name a few patterns. I also love the coordiinating accessories. For example the cat is a superhero, The first section of the book goes through the supplies and techniques needed to successfully create these creatures. The second section of the book is the patterns. Both sections are very easy to follow and have numerous photos.
I received a few digital copy of this book from Netgalley. All opinions expressed are my own.
This is such a lovely book and I would love to take on more patterns from Khuc Cay. I was a bit nervous about some of the projects in this book as an amigurumi beginner but I found it so easy to follow! It's really nicely put together and the projects are ADORABLE!
Very cute and easy to understand instructions that are also relatively quick to implement.
My children tried it themselves and found it easy for them too.
Have fun trying!
I love me a good crochet book to grow my understanding and skill of the craft, and this book was no different. I love that the artist includes blush into her works to give the stuffies a more realistic and adorable baby look. There are several points in the book where the artist shows the work in different stages, and it’s within some of these pages that I learned how to make socks/stockings and boots on legs look seamless, as well as simple stitches to make intricate looking outfits, flowers, and more.
There are instructions (written and visual) in the beginning of the book as well as throughout the book in the patterns. Materials, stitches, and yarn used on the projects in the book are shared. I also love the acknowledgement page where the author thanks her daughter for her love of crochet. I could relate to this with my daughter.
I think the first project I’m going to make is the cat. Wish me luck!
I am VERY new to crotchet and self taught, aside from an early life lesson on a chain stitch from my great aunt in the early 90s. There are definitely techniques in here that I would struggle to master, but this guide is VERY easy to understand. The photos paired with step by step directions makes this book great for beginners or long timers who want to make some cute characters and character clothes. Between the beginning "tutorial" and index bringing up the back this is a very helpful guide into Amigurumi.
I had an opportunity to receive an eARC of Khuc Cay's Wonderful World of Amigurumi.
DISCLAIMER: I am a beginner at crochet, with my previous experience coming mostly from those online crochet kits.
I really liked the diversity of the animals offered-- specifically the fox and the cat-- and all of the accessories too! The pictures were really helpful in some of the techniques I am less familiar with, they were clear and highly visible. It is obvious that Khuc put a lot of thought and love into these patterns; each animal has a background, interests, etc. that help give them life. Highly recommend for people who are both experienced with crochet, and those who are looking to expand their repertoire.

I recently read the book Wonderful World of Amigurumi by Khuc Cay and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The author has a unique crochet style that is filled with personality and adorable details. Not only does she create charming animal designs, but she also adds accessories like suspenders, hats, and even capes to make superhero-themed amigurumi.
One thing I appreciated about the book is that Khuc Cay starts with a few introductory chapters that explain the necessary techniques and materials needed to get started. This includes crocheting a magic ring, modifying size, connecting elements, and tucking in wires. These tips are especially helpful for beginners.
The book features a wide variety of projects, including a bee, giraffe, mushroom, crocodile, cat, boar, ladybug, and more. Each project has a touch of realism and a bit of magical imagination that makes them all unique and charming. I particularly enjoyed the embroidery and blush details that added a whimsical touch to the finished pieces.
Overall, I highly recommend the Wonderful World of Amigurumi to anyone who loves crocheting or simply wants to try their hand at creating delightful soft toys.
I feel like this would be better in physical book form. I've gone through it in Kindle and it's just not as cute as it could be and feels very PDF rather than organized book.
Cute idead and well thought out patterns though.
