I did not know that this was book three in this series, so even though it could be read as a standalone, there were some parts and characters that I wanted some background on. It felt flat to me as far as the story went. I wasn't entertained, so finishing this book took me a long time. It just didn't have a really good crime feeling; I honestly can not place what was bothering me as it is hard to explain.
I did enjoy the I am going to say voodoo part that popped up. I know voodoo is a religion, but I wasn't sure how to word that practice in this sentence. I was inquisitive about why he was getting married to someone in the story, and I may have missed the meaning behind it, but it felt weird to me. Like a quid pro quo was happening, but I could be wrong. In the end, the whole thing with Boise is he is trying to figure out who framed him as well as handle the trial of his mother in the States. Would I read the other books in this series? I might later on down the road.

This story had a great plot but the way it was worded through me off a bit.
I'll look in to reading other books by this author.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC

I enjoyed Crime Paradise. Great characters and scenes. I will be reading Gene Desrochers other books.

This book was a good read, it had suspense, intrigue, action, murder, mystery, A good who done it and some crazy twist and turns! The storyline was interesting and flowed nicely! The only thing I didn't like is that most of the book is in patois? Or that's what it seems like to me??! I understand it but I just didn't care for it, I don't know it through me off?! But thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
