Through the Veneer of Time
Vera Bell
OMG! What a read! I couldn’t shut this one off. I had to read it. It was hot, sexy, passionate and had an element I love…love that death cannot end. While I love time travel books, and this didn’t exactly meet that criteria it does come close. Author Vera Bell takes readers to Ireland in 1559. Young and beautiful Neave McConway marries King Adan of Tyrone. From the moment they met they loved each other with passion and devotion. The King is a warrior and fights to keep his lands which terrifies Neave. One of his enemies attacks their keep and brutally attacks Neave. The King loves her dearly and tries to be patient with her but isn’t sure she will ever be the same. In 2009 we meet Siena Forte. She is an artist living in Washington DC. She has been hired to do a mural but has drawn a blank as what to paint. She is married to Ryan, an FBI agent. Ryan is working on problematic case, a serial killer.
Siena is interested in Past Life Regression; her research not only leads to artistic inspiration but helps her to understand the visions and dreams she is experiencing. The experiences of her past bring danger to her present. This also affects Ryan and his case.
MORE PLEASE! Author Vera Bell has gifted readers a book that is sure to please. The history of Ireland is fascinating. It is obvious the author has done extensive research. The plot is fascinating, complex, and imaginative. This tale is tapestry with the threads of two stories expertly woven into one. I can hardly wait for book 2.

I absolutely LOVED this book!
Starting to think that I have a time travel niche/obsession….since I seem to love them all! 😬

Wow! This was incredible!

We start out with two completely separate timelines.
One in 1559! Yes. You read that right!!
And one in 2009….

In 1559 we have Kings and Castles and love and war…and more…in Ireland.

In 2009 we have an FBI Agent and an Artist!

Strange thing though…the artist (Sienna) is having a brain fart and can’t produce…. When she finally does, the man that appears in the portrait is from centuries ago…and looks like a royal…and somehow looks just like a guy from her dreams…. Hmmmmm….

We go back and forth between the two timelines, but, THEY ARE SO REALISTIC THAT YOU WILL GET DRAGGED IN…to BOTH of them!!

I can’t even tell you how many times this one literally brought me to tears…but it did…over and over again. And then, just as often…brought me the overwhelming feeling of love and peace too! Amazingly!

What a beautiful masterpiece this gem is!
So happy that I was recently gifted an ARC from #NetGalley and #TimeboundPublishingLLC #IndependentBookPublishersAssociation.

This debut novel and the start to a trilogy is delightfully unputdownable. The book follows two timelines that are interwoven and I love the way the author combines history with present day and the fantasy aspect. The characters are engaging and I truly felt like I was drawn into the story with them. The tension and pacing are spot on, the chapters are short, and it's well-written. I'm excited to read the next book and see where it goes. There are some heavy topics that could be triggering to some so check the author's note in the beginning before reading. The audiobook is an exciting way to enjoy this story!
