The author's elegant prose in this translation made the complex subject matter accessible and enjoyable, even for someone like me who isn't deeply academic. The blend of historical and modern elements is original and engaging. While I wished for more background knowledge on Caravaggio, the overall experience was intriguing and well-written. It may cater to a specific audience, but it's worth giving it a try if you're on the fence.

This book has some great moments, notably Micheal’s POV. However, the subject matter and references are meant for someone deep in academia—which I am not. I really loved the writing style, I thought it was beautiful. I am a sucker for concise elegant prose and this was perfect.

The original author is clearly very talented and this translation is accessible and well done. I think if you’re looking for something new and complex, this is the book for you. It’s very original and I loved the idea of blending historical figures and modern day lives.

I wish I had more background knowledge on Caravaggio, I’m sure it would’ve made the story more engaging. Overall, interesting and well written but meant for a select audience. If you’re on the fence…give it a try!

Everything has been already written about the exceptional talent of Alessandro Giardino, all is entirely true.. I was truly impressed by the standard of wririntg. The appeal and enjoyment of the characterization and the story are very personal. It did not work for me, but it is just a matter of mood. There is a drama and a sadness that did not suit me at the time I read the book, but it does not mean at all that it should stop other reader from enjoying the experience.
Many thanks to the author and the publisher, all opinions are mine.
