The twins are back and at it again when an exchange student is found murdered in her friends room. An enjoyable mystery that unravels as we get to know more characters from the world of port gamble.

I Iistened to the audiobook and I liked this one much better than the first. It focused more solely on the supernatural twin element and I enjoyed that part. I felt like the narrator even did a better job differentiating voices of the characters.

I’ve read a few of Gregg Olsen’s books and loved how in depth he gets with the characters. However, when I got this arc I didn’t realize it was not a stand alone from book 1. Would highly recommend reading book 1 first to acquaint yourself. Outside of that, I really enjoyed this book. He is a great storyteller that keeps you guessing!

Back again with the very unique Ryan twins, Taylor and Hayley. After reading book one in the Port Gable Chronicles book, I immediately dove into this one. I liked book one, but I definitely liked book two better.

I really liked the premise of this one and how everything flowed together. I felt there was less repetition in this one and that I found myself more drawn to the outcome of the story. A lot happened in book two and there are some major revelations to the twins and their unique psychic abilities. It’s a fast past easy to get lost in read. The twists were perfectly placed to keep me listening well past my bedtime. Though that cliff hanger ending had me sitting there with my jaw on the ground for a while, immediately googling if there was going to be a third in the series – and here I am still wondering – WILL WE EVER GET A THIRD BOOK!?

I would say that this series is more of a YA read, though there are definitely some super descriptive murder(s). I love the idea of these twins being little amateur sleuths and I am all about these psychic/medium powers that they have. Its a good series to pick up if you’re looking for a new series that is easy and fast paced, though I would definitely recommend reading them in order.

So this series was actually published back in 2012, this story has been renamed and edited and is being rereleased. Dying To Be Her along with book one Beneath Her Skin are being released on 1/5! While I have not had the chance to read book one it is now on my TBR due to the absolute excellence of writing in book two. The story follows teens Hayley and Taylor Ryan as they try to discover who is responsible for the deaths of their friends. Initially, the first victim, Olivia is murdered at a classmate’s home during a party. When her body is found it sets off a chain of events that threatens to tear apart the community of Port Gamble. Hayley and Taylor are very special twins that have some unique characteristics that they can use to help find the killer. However, if they aren’t careful—the killer will just might get them first. Highly recommend this one and I will be looking forward to seeing more from this author as well as his previous works.

Taylor and Hailey are back on the scene. A young girl their age has been stabbed multiplie times at a halloween party. It was their friend and they want to know what happened to her and why. Taylor and Hailey have special things that they can feel. No one knows they can do these things. Their mom is hiding something thou. Will this hurt their ability, or will it help it

Gives me YA vibes with twin amateur slueths who have medium powers. I think Gregg writes less repetitive when writing fiction vs some of his non-fiction I’ve read. You definitely need to read these in order as they have a lot of the same characters and reference things from the first book.

Really the same thoughts I had about the first one. The supernatural twin dynamic was cute and a unique storyline. I realize it is a YA book but I felt it was a immaturity written....perhaps maybe geared toward elementary children.

So I read book #1 a few days ago. It was good, not great. But then again, I’m thinking this may have been geared toward a YA audience…and I am not that.
In any case, this one again was good, not great.
The premise of the book again sounded good…but I don’t feel like the book delivered well.
I LOVE the aspect of the twins having a type of ‘psychic ability’, but I don’t feel like it played out well.
And again there was a lot of gory death…killing…twisted minds.
Good plot, but just wasn’t feeling it with this series. 😕

Identical twins Hayley and Taylor once again feature prominently as their best friend, Beth, has an exchange student living with her and she is found dead at a party where all three girls were in attendance. The teenage host of the party, Brianna, doesn't seem bothered by the fact that a girl died in her home. In addition, the twins find out more about the bus accident they were badly injured in ten years ago

While I don't always read YA fiction, I do always love to read Gregg Olsen's books. I would definitely recommend reading the first in this series, although it would work as a standalone. But it features very similar threads and I enjoyed getting the complete picture. A good mystery that I again didn't figure out. The narrator did a great job as well!

Great follow up book. Narrative was good and kept me engaged. The very epitome of page-turner with a chilling storyline that grips from the first Chapter

There is so much going on in this story which makes it so engrossing from the outset. It held my attention, which I love, as I had to know if I had guessed the killer.

Olivia, an exchange student from England, is viciously murdered at a Halloween party in the extravagant home of Brianna. Brianna and her boyfriend Drew are cold fish, sociopaths that immediately become suspects when seen making out in Victoria Secret the following day. Detective Annie is working hard on the case to figure out who the murderer is.

Also, there are the psychic (for lack of a better description) twins, Hayley and Taylor, who receive messages from beyond the grave and are working on their own to solve the murder. As they get clues, they call them into the tip line, which I thought was hilarious but appropriate for 2 identical teen aged girls.

Told from the perspectives of the multiple narrators, I was definitely entertained! The characters are well developed and I enjoyed the plot. Also there are a few red herrings thrown in just to make it interesting. I did guess the murderer early on and wanted to keep reading to see if I was right. There is also a twist in the end that adds another layer to the story!

Highly recommend!

Premise - a British exchange student is stabbed to death and the suspected killers, a spoiled rich girl and her boyfriend, go on the lam. Twin psychics Hayley and Taylor investigate.

The story is well paced and gripping, a bit stronger than the first in the series, but the characters still feel flat (especially the mustache twirling villains) and I could do without the supernatural element. Still, it’s a fun, easy read.

This will be great for fans of:
* spooky twins
* psychic connections
* class critique
* atmospheric coastal thrillers

Dying to Be Her is #2 in a series, and I highly recommend reading #1 first, as there is a lot of crossover from that first book.
We continue following the twins, Hayley and Taylor, as there is another murder in their small town of Port Gamble. A foreign exchange student from England was found stabbed to death at a Halloween party, and the number one suspect is a pretentious teen (who I just wanted to smack, and honestly hated).

There were 2 stories going here and I feel like the main one didn’t get as much focus as the story of the twins. So it got a little confusing as to which story was really the true STORY. It almost could have been separated out into its own book.

For that reason alone I gave it 3.5 stars.

Oh yay! A second Port Gamble book featuring the fascinating twins Haytay! A great murder with a twisty plot that kept me guessing and glued to my ear pods. Fantastic narrator. Gregg Olsen is one of my favorite authors :)

Just like my review of the first book in this series, I'm not a fan... but Gregg Olsen's true crime books are amazing. This series should find its audience, but female teenage drama is not for me.

This is the second a last book in this young adult crime series.

I know I often do not respect the order of the books in a series, but I am glad I did with this one. You really need to read the first one first in order to understand what is being revealed.

Not only are there a lot of recurring characters and a few new ones too, but you have to read book two  to find out about the secrets that were being kept in the first book. 

As soon as you have finished the first part, I am sure you will do as I did: dive into book two right away. I really, really wanted not to be kept in the dark any longer.

I was really shocked when I found out who was behind the murder in this story. This is beyond despicable.
