I definitely enjoyed this book more than the first book in this series as it had a more believable storyline. Although the writing was still juvenile, with little substance, there was a little more character development in this instalment of the series, based around teenaged twin girls with supernatural abilities.

I didn’t like or care for any of the characters, however my dislike of Brianna and her mother was enough to find them comical, so they did entertain me with their self-obsession.

The first book in this series is categorised as “mystery and thrillers”, but the stories and characters lack depth for adults and may be enjoyed more by young teens.

2 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Gregg Olsen and Bookouture, for an ARC in return for an honest review.

I love Olsen’s disturbing true crime books. In this fiction series, he does a great job of creating characters that are easy to hate.

I enjoyed Book 2, Dying To Be Her, a lot more than book 1 in this series. This story picks up a few months after book 1 ends. Another student at Hayley & Taylor’s high school is found dead. This time it’s a foreign exchange student. I found the story to be much more gripping and the character development better in book 2.

Overall, I would continue with this series, especially if the books continued to become stronger and more gripping thrillers.

Thank you @bookouture for allowing me to listen to the audiobook versions of this republished series, in exchange for my honest reviews.

good

This had a good plot and I did not expect the ending. However, I didn't care about any of the characters, good or bad. The image-obsessed teen, which should have been easy to hate, was written to be such a cliche that she didn't seem to be a real person. I listened to the audio book and found myself tuning out occasionally. The main characters are teens and this would be good for them (if they are OK with sex and violence). It is a solid book, but not the best I have read by this author.

This is very creepy and captivating! I didn't read the first book, but was still able to read this one just fine. I do wish I would've read them in order since it was a part of a series!
