This was the first audio book that I have listened to by this author and it kept me entranced through long drives. There were so many twists and turns, it kept you guessing right up to the end, when WOW! Another twist.
Loved this story and will definitely keep an eye out for this author.
This thriller had many twists and turns that kept me interested even though I didn't like any of the characters. Because the characters were so unlikeable I didn't connect to any of them and wasn't able to fully immerse myself in the plot of betrayal, deception, and revenge. It was entertaining, but never gripped me. This was not a bad thriller, but it was not the thriller for me. 2.5 stars rounded to 3 stars. The narrator did an excellent job bringing the story to life. Thank you, NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for my audiobook.
Aaron (a university professor) is happily married to Paige (a nurse) and have 8 y/o twins Bailey and Bryce.
When Aaron gets a promotion and is spending more time at work and Paige having her own work difficulties, they start to drift apart.
When Aaron isn’t able to make a concert for one of the twins due to a faculty mixer, Paige decides to turn up and surprise him. But she ends up being the one who gets the surprise. She sees him flirting with a fellow colleague Cara Morton, and instantly knows there is more going on here than just friendship.
When Cara goes missing, the police are informed of Aaron and Cara’s close relationship and he becomes a suspect.
There were multiple POV and time jumps of before and after Cara’s disappearance, it did take me a while to get used to what dates were before and after, as it all happens within a few months.
There are so many twists and turns throughout, everyone has their secrets. Will the truth be discovered? I didn’t see the ending coming but that is what always makes these books so exciting to me
I'm normally not the one who loves to listen to audiobooks but this one I had a hard time stopping from listening to. It is just the perfect blend of mystery and love. It really kept me on the edge of my seat the more I got into the book. I know that there is another book out now that I want to read after reading/listening to this one. I highly recommend this one to all who love a good mystery/suspense book.
The Perfect Affair by Angela Henry is a great thriller. I thoroughly enjoyed it from the beginning to end. It kept me at the edge of my seat, wanting to know what exactly happened next. The narrator was good at the female voices but not distinct enough for male voices so every time Aaron came on, it sounded like Paige talking so if I missed the beginning of the chapter where they say whose viewpoint the chapter is from, I sometimes got confused who was talking.
Huge thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy of the audiobook. #netgalley #theperfectaffair
Title: The Perfect Affair
Author: Angela Henry
Rating: 4.5/5stars
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Angela Henry's "The Perfect Affair" is a gripping suspense drama that intricately weaves the seemingly perfect life of Aaron & Paige Nichols into a roller coaster of events. The dual POV & alternating timeline kept me guessing as so many secrets were revealed leading to the unexpected OMG moment!
Henry's writing shines with an eclectic cast of characters set against an engaging academic backdrop in Cleveland, Ohio. As a first-time reader of Angela Henry, I was impressed by her storytelling prowess. The audiobook, with its wonderful narration, heightened the suspense. I wholeheartedly recommend this to fans of suspense & drama, eagerly anticipating more from this talented author.
Many thanks to #NetGalley, #ThePerfectAffair, and Angela Henry for the captivating ARC experience. My opinions are entirely my own.
This thriller definitely held my attention throughout, but I do think there were way too many characters to keep track of and some of them are just distracting. I wasn't at all surprised by the ending which I was kind of bummed out by. I didn't see the explanation for the ending coming but wasn't overall shocked by any of it. I think the characters were well developed, but I think I would have liked a little bit more back and forth between Paige and Cara. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
This was a quick and entertaining read. The story was engaging and decently fast paced, but dragged on in parts. The plot is initially the typical affair type story, but then suddenly explodes with secrets, drama, and plot twists. Things get interesting, but also confusing with the addition of multiple characters and unraveling secrets. The narration was well done, but it would have been more effective with multiple narrators. The voice for Aaron was a little confusing and the switch between characters was often hard to follow. Overall, the narrator was what kept me engaged. This one is for fans of unlikable characters, multiple point-of-views, slow burns, past and present timelines, and plot twists. Overall, an enjoyable and entertaining audiobook earning 3 stars from me. Thank you, Net Galley, and Dreamscape Select for the gifted copy.
First time reading an audio book using NetGalley. I really enjoyed being able to listen while driving to work! I loved this book with all the details and little funny remarks the characters had. I have listen to audio books before but they were just the same person reading the book. This audio book had more than one person reading the book (at least it sounds like it’s multiple voices…) I enjoyed this very much!
Thanks NetGalley & Dreamscape Select for this audio ARC.
The Perfect Affair by Angela Henry was an intense read to listen to with multiple storylines, characters and complexities. There is Aaron, the academic cheating husband, his wife Paige, his missing colleague and lover Cara and a full storyline that has you trying to figure out "who done it" until the very end.
This was my first time reading this author, but I enjoyed her thriller and the twists that kept me listening. I recommend giving this author and this book a read.
My congratulations to the narrator, I keep listening just because of her (and because I wanted to know who actually was responsible for the murder) but I just didn’t care in the end for anyone. I liked that there weren’t many obvious red herrings that detracted from the plot but I didn’t like how the book wrapped up.
The flow of the story was disjointed, with frequent shifts in timelines that confused me a lot while reading. I think the book would have benefitted from having the chapters explicitly titled past/present.
An ok book, but very forgettable.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review. This was a quick read and was just an ok read for me. Aaron Nichols gets a promotion to head of his department and then must find someone to fill his previous position. Low and behold he offers it to Cara who only has a few months experience and suddenly they form a friendship which turns into an affair. As it usually happens, his wife, Paige finds out about the affair and Aaron swears he will end it. All of sudden strange things start to happen to Aaron and his family and then Cara goes missing......guess who is going to be investigated for her disappearance? Is she missing or did she just decide to move away and start fresh? The concept of this story was good and I looked forward to reading it but there was just something about it that didn't click with me....Enjoy!!!
A quick phrase to describe this book would be "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned." There was nothing perfect about the affair(s) in The Perfect Affair and I'm telling you there were a lot of affairs. Would you stay with your husband after finding out he cheated on you? Would you defend him if his mistress went missing and potentially was murdered? This book may be filled with triggers for some. It was filled with lies and deceit but also the idea of hope for forgiveness (kinda). Not everyone is perfect...
There were a lot of intricacies and connections throughout this book. People who knew people from decades ago coming back to town. These characters were involved in past cheating scandals. Essentially every character in this book was either a child who grew up with a parent who cheated or they were personally someone who cheated.
If you enjoy a twisty web of a psychological thriller, this is your book.
I have to admit, that I had no idea what would expect me when I started listening to this audiobook.
And honestly I had to skip back sometimes to make sure I got it right, because I would never have guessed how this story would turn out.
This is what I call a twisted story with people you will love to hate. A psychological thriller deluxe with a very satisfying end!!!
The book was narrated by Rachel Handshaw who did a perfect job: a pleasure to carry her around in my earbuds!
Thank you #NetGalley #Dreamscape Select, Storm Publishing
This was a good book. Narrator was overall pleasant, except for her strange voices when she was playing someone else. Good book, a bit long or drawn out if anything
Engaging fast paced story that keeps the reader engaged from beginning to end

"The Perfect Affair" delivers a high-speed, intrigue-laden thriller. Centered largely in an academic environment, the narrative unfolds around Aaron Nichols, who assumes the role of department head following a recent promotion. Seeking solace in his new responsibilities, Aaron becomes entangled in an affair with his colleague, Cara Morton. However, complications arise when Aaron's wife, Paige, discovers the affair, triggering a chain of events that culminate in Cara's sudden disappearance, casting suspicion squarely upon Aaron. The perspectives of Aaron, Paige, and the detective handling the case collectively narrate the story.
Commencing with a woman purchasing storage units and stumbling upon an enigmatic discovery, this detail resurfaces unexpectedly in the book's concluding chapters. The main characters, Paige and Aaron Nichols, a married couple with young twins, are introduced next. Paige, a nurse, notices Aaron's increasing distance and uncovers his affair with Cara Morton. The plot initially follows a predictable course before veering unexpectedly into multiple tangents, introducing secrets, plot twists, and new characters, making it a challenging narrative to navigate. Notably, the investigation into Cara's disappearance receives relatively scant attention.
Narrated by Aaron, Paige, Cara (in the past), and the detective, the story seeks to create complexity through past events, presenting a multitude of details to keep track of. Peripheral characters gain sudden significance, contributing to the narrative's complexity. The ultimate conclusion feels convoluted and somewhat implausible, attributed to the numerous tangential stories. The epilogue introduces yet another plot twist, contributing unnecessary complexity to the overall storyline.
In conclusion, I would assign "The Perfect Affair" a three-star rating. While it sustained a brisk pace and maintained my interest, the convoluted plot made it challenging to untangle the intricate web of relationships, secrets, and twists, resulting in a somewhat unsatisfying conclusion.
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape for an ARC of The Perfect Affair by Angela Henry
This was one twisty story that I really enjoyed. The narrator did a great job! Love the multiple points of view and the past and present timelines. Definitely worth a listen.
This book grabs you from the beginning and listening to all the twist and turns to get to the end.
I had my theories some were on the right track others I was so off. I will say the beginning and the end were the best parts of the book the middle was a little long and some of it was at times unrealistic. As All thrillers I read I never want to give anything away so If you like puzzles and mysteries this is a good one to read.

Ok, this book was just twist after shocking twist but at the same time was a mystery that makes you really think. Exactly my kind of book! Great narration, story and characters that stick with you. Wow!
