Another fun episode in the 44 Scotland street series. McCall Smith keeps them coming with his incredible tie to the characters and an endless imagination. I was disappointed to see Irene rear her ugly head back into the narrative. I can't really laugh at her because she is just too upsetting!

🌇Fun, quirky ensemble of characters and situations😊

This continuation of Alexander McCall Smith's Scotland Street series is fun, whimsical, witty and I found it a delight for its quirky simultaneous plot lines. Bertie and his seven-year-old classmates, especially the girls with their pecking order and power struggles, were my favorite characters, but all six alternating subplots about the various residents of Edinburgh's New Town were full of irony, dry wit and entertaining situations. Particularly ironic was Bertie's mother Irene and the turn her life takes.

An excellent addition to a winsome series.

Thanks to publishers Knopf, Pantheon, Vintage, and Anchor and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
