Solid thriller. Really good if you’re into astrology, as I’m not too familiar with it, it felt a little muddled during gm those parts. But it’s a solid read and I didn’t expect the ending so that’s always great to me. 3.5

Secrets kept. Secrets revealed. A captivating dramatic thriller with a complicated web of characters. Although it took me a hot minute to get to know and keep straight the wealthy Manhattanite characters at the retreat-and how they all knew each other-I found myself needing to know. Know their secrets. Know how they were connected. Know what would happen after their secrets were revealed. I was quite impressed with the complex nature of the plot and the characters, and was pleasantly surprised at how the book ended.

Girl, wtf.
First, this book was interested. The beginning was slow, very slow, but once everyone started arriving to the Astrology house it started to get good and very very messy. The emotional overlaps, the cheating, the drama. My goodness.
The plot coming together and the build up was getting good. but the end!? I was so confused and I had to just cackle when I hit the last page.. Because what even happened.

I enjoyed this book and would recommend! I think that it gave White Lotus type vibes but was very well written.

This took me so long to read because it started out slow, but it ended up hooking me and I couldn't put it down until the end. The idea is great -- there's a special hotel where the guests have an astrology experience from an expert. A group of friends/relatives are there for a good time and to relax, but they are have secrets that will change everything. Of course there is a storm and they are cut off while the suspense gets higher.
I enjoyed the story and the ending and hope to read another book by this author. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this

I realllllllllly wanted to love this one. But I just couldn't. It was pretty slow moving in the beginning and it was hard for me to hold attention to the book. This may say more about me than the book, though. I did enjoy Carinn's writing, so I'd be happy to read more of her work.

"A group of wealthy Manhattanites escapes to an astrology-themed retreat, where simmering resentments and long-held secrets lead to a shocking death." - from Goodreads summary.
This book was on my radar thanks to that above synopsis. I love a book where a group of friends get together and things go wrong. It's becoming one of my favorite tropes. In this book, the reader knows from the very beginning pages that something has gone horribly wrong at this retreat but we don't know what exactly has happened or why. Then the book goes back to the beginning of the weekend before everything went wrong. This book was interesting because there were all of these weird vibes between the different couples attending this retreat. Added to that, Rini, the host and owner of the retreat, also seemed to have her own motivations behind the weekend. It all added up to a suspenseful read that kept me turning the pages. I really liked the ending and the way everything turned out. This ended up being a really solid read for me overall. I will be looking forward to what this author comes up with next.
Readers looking for slow burn, suspenseful reads and those like me who enjoy books where a group of friends get together and things go wrong need to pick this book up. If you enjoyed The Search Party by Hannah Richell or The Weekend Retreat by Tara Laskowski, pick this book up or vice versa. All three of these books are highly enjoyable and ones that I would recommend. Four stars for this book.

The Astrology House follows a group of people who end up going to an astrology themed retreat for a getaway but what happens when buried secerts and past resentments are revealed. This is a page turner from beginning to end with so many twists that I did not see coming. The author did a great job writing this and the astrology in the book made it so much fun. The book had so many interesting characters in it. This was one that I highly enjoyed and would recommend to any reader who loves thrillers or mysteries. Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for this read in exchange of my honest review of The Astrology House by Carinn Jade.

Even though I went into The Astrology House with high hopes for an engaging mystery, the heavy focus on astrology didn't really jive well with me. The setting, characters and general plot build was okay, but the story leaned so heavily on celestial themes that for me it overshadowed the suspense and character development I was hoping for.
For readers who are deeply into zodiac signs and birth charts, this might be good but for someone like me, who isn’t drawn to astrology, it was tough to stay engaged.

I was drawn to The Astrology House by Carinn Jade for its intriguing blend of astrology and mystery. The setting is beautifully atmospheric, and the astrological themes are woven into the narrative in an engaging way. The concept itself is unique and has a lot of potential to stand out in its genre.
However, I found the pacing to be uneven, with some sections dragging while others felt rushed. Additionally, the characters could have used more development, as their motivations and arcs weren’t always clear, making it harder to fully connect with the story. The ending left me with unanswered questions and a desire for more depth.
Despite these shortcomings, The Astrology House is an enjoyable read for fans of mystical and atmospheric stories.

Super engaging title and concept. It fell a little short for me because there were so many points of view to keep track. I did enjoy the astrology aspect, but that was about it for me. Unfortunately I was not able to finish this book. Thank you to NetGalley, Carinn Jade, and Atria Books for the ARC in exchange for my honest feedback!

Thank you to NetGalley for the chance to read an early copy of this book. Book was fine, really good if you like the genre! I would read more from this author.

This book was so unique! I know the word astrology was in the title, but I didn’t think it would actually include so much mixed into it! That aspect of it was super cool! I do think the actual thriller and mystery aspect of it was a bit tricky to follow and I was able to guess the twists. Overall I still enjoyed the book and sent copies to my friends who are super into astrology once it was published!

Thank you, Netgalley, for allowing me to read and review.
I hate doing this when it's a NetGalley book, but Iust DNF this one. I got about 56% through and I am struggling. The characters are very difficult to get in touch with. I don't care for cheating in books, and I did not enjoy the astrology parts as much as I thought I would.

The Astrology House is a solid debut that smacks of all the juice and drama packed into a quirky thriller. The book focuses on a group of couples visiting a B&B that is astro-themed (we love!). As one would expect, their time at the Astro House illuminates the cracks in each of their relationships along with a pretty unnerving proprietor who feels predictably "off." Gripping and dramatic, it was hard to put this one down!

I wanted to like this one. It's well written and the premise is very interesting. But the characters visiting the astrology house were so snobby and off-putting, it made me dislike more than I would have otherwise.

This one became a DNF for me fairly quickly. I'm not sure if it's the pacing of the book or the story, but it just didnt work well for me and keep me captivated enough to continue .

Let me start by saying that I've seen a ton of really great reviews of this book, so this review is a very unpopular opinion! But this was nooooot for me. I actually DNFed it 2 separate times but kept seeing the good reviews, so when it was published, I binged the audio in one sitting.
It was just so wordy and the characters' behavior was 95% completely over the top and out of left field.
I wanted to love this SO MUCH, but just couldn't.

This was a really great setup for a thriller/mystery, but the character voices were not very distinct. I had a hard time remembering who was who and how they were related to each other.

The Astrology House is an engaging thriller packed with drama. Four interconnected couples travel to the Stars Harbor Astrological Retreat for a much-needed break, hoping to relax and gain insights from the stars.
However, their peaceful weekend takes a dark turn as hidden agendas come to light. And with a hurricane on the horizon, chaos is inevitable.
The story is told through multiple perspectives, featuring a large cast of characters, but each one is distinct enough to follow. The astrology theme adds an intriguing and unique layer, though I occasionally got lost in the sun and moon houses. Thankfully, there's a helpful "cheat sheet" before each reading, detailing the guest's astrological chart and their relationships with others.
The book maintains a slow-burn suspense, a locked room mystery, leading to an explosive finale with unexpected twists. The characters are deeply flawed, and while I ended up liking most of the women (except for one), the men left me with the opposite impression.
Overall, this is an impressive debut novel, and I'll definitely be on the lookout for more from this author.
