Margot Flynn is an attorney who is looking forward to some time off with her husband, brother, and other friends at the Stars Harbor Astrology Retreat on Long Island. Here, with their hostess's guidance, Margot and the others will ponder how much of life is fate and how much is free-will. Everyone has a different reason for being there. Margot specifically wants to know if motherhood is finally going to be in her future. By the end of the book, the reader learns some of the characters have unexpected connections.
The setting is unique and readers get to see each character's horoscope as compiled by Rini, who seems to have an agenda in addition to giving readings to her guests. The atmosphere of the book is foreboding, and the multiple-points-of-view keep the book moving at a fast pace. Everyone in the book has secrets and while some of the characters are harder to get to know that others, I grew to like almost all of them by the end of the story. One person is behind redemption and it's hard reading about what that character did. Overall, I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to thriller fans looking for something different, but I was disappointed that the dramatic ending left some important loose ends open.
I received an advance copy of this ebook at no cost from NetGalley and Atria Books, but my review is voluntary and unbiased.
This was a fun read with a lot of similarities to The Guest List — mainly the multi-POV and the mystery as much about who the victim will be as who might be a killer. Not a whodunnit, this is more about the buildup of interpersonal tensions capped by a shocking reveal or two.
Speaking of reveals, I'm refraining from spoilers here but I'll say that my main complaint isn't with how everything wraps up exactly, but before its proper explanation, there's an 11th hour reveal that feels overblown.
It's a good cast of characters that could have been unwieldy in other books but meshes nicely here, and the astrological theme is both entertaining (for the folks who love astrology) and thoughtful on a fate vs free will level (for the folks who hate astrology).

I loved the concept of this book, but it ended up not being for me.
The story ended up falling a little bit flat for me, and it felt like more of a family drama than a thriller. There were a few too many characters for me and I had a tough time keeping track of them all.
However, I would recommend this book to someone who is not looking for too intense of a thriller, and I would read more by this author in the future.
Dnf'd book at 40%
I loved the premise, the idea and atmosphere of this book. I liked that she added pages of each character and their sign etc. However the story was falling flat for me, I wasn't excited. I didn't have any ambition to finish it b
it feels wrong to say i had fun reading this book but it's been a hot minute since i had fun/enjoyed myself this much reading a thriller. i wish some of the plots had been wrapped up more nicely at the end (Farah lesbian romance when??) but overall this read had me hooked.
As someone who is very interested in astrology, I was very excited about this book. And even if you do not know much about astrology it does not take away from any understanding. In fact, there are astrology cheat sheets before many chapters, which I really enjoyed and thought made the book unique. The setting of the book, the house, and the astrology aspect were the most enjoyable parts of the book for me.
The book was told from multiple points of view. Too many if I'm being honest. None of the characters were likeable, except maybe the host, Rini. The characters were very selfish and self-absorbed and predictable. The overall story was predictable and read less like a thriller and more like domestic suspense. There were many story lines which I don't feel like got the resolve that they needed. That being said, the book was still enjoyable. I was still invested in the stories even if I didn't like the characters themselves. It was a good vacation read. I rounded up to 4 stars.
The story does talk about infertility, pregnancy loss, questioning sexuality, and sexual assault if those are triggering for you.
I will say I loved the astrology aspect of the story but that was the only thing I liked. Unfortunately it wasn't enough and I stopped reading a bit over half way. The characters were unlikable and they kinda just blended together. It took far too long to figure out all the connections and keep them straight. The first 25% had so much info I had to write down the characters and their spouses as a quick reference just to keep them straight. I am truly bummed because I really wanted to like this. I would still try another book from this author and will never tell anyone to not read the book just because it didn't work for me.
The Astrology House is a look at the secrets couples keep from each other and their friend groups. Four couples book a weekend at the retreat hosted by Rini. They expected a relaxing weekend where they would be able to have some astrology exercises and maybe work through some relationship issues. The house has secrets in store for all involved. Couples behaving badly and secrets are forced to come to light. Although slow in the beginning, three quarters through the book the twists started and it was fast paced to the end.
THE ASTROLOGY HOUSE was a great story. It was slow to start but quickly picked up pace. I liked the multiple POV'S and the mystery. I thought it was a well written debut and I can't wait for the author's next book.
Many thanks for my gifted copy.
Loved the book cover and premise. The Astrology House is an atmospheric thriller with multiple characters & POVs, twists and turns and a satisfying ending. Recommended for lovers of suspense thrillers and/or astrology. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

As an astrology buff, I was immediately drawn into the premise of this book. Carinn Jade provides a cast of characters capturing perry much all of astrological signs, provides their charts, with a generous helping of mysteries and twists to satisfy both the astrological fan and the mystery fan in me. A spooky setting sets the scene nicely. This isn't a deep read, but light and easy. Thanks to NetGalley and Atria for the opportunity to read this fun eArc. 3.5/5 ⭐️
The Astrology House is a beautiful retreat in which a group of people can spend way too much money getting their fortune told in the form of a lot of charts. There were some twists and turns. The group visiting this weekend were doing all of the things they should not do. The connections between all of the players were slowly unravelled and revealed. I liked that none of it came from nowhere. I was taken through the connections in a logical order. Some of the secrets were easy to guess. Others less so. I found that it took me about half of the book to really get all of the characters straight. Especially with the male characters. A few were completely flat. Some were practically stereotypes (I don't even know 1 influencer!). I started to get them straight as the story went on. I was satisfied by the ending.
Thank you NetGalley and Atria books for a copy of this book!
I loved the idea of this one and was immediately hooked by the synopsis. I enjoyed the multiple POV and the short chapters. There were lots of twists that I didn’t expect which kept me wanting more. However, I also was confused through it and I felt like the end fell short for me with some of the characters stories having loose ends and not feeling complete. I think some of their stories were unneeded and they could have just been extra characters and not needed so much of a voice.
If you are a fan of astrology and believe in star signs, star charts, etc, I think you’d love this! I enjoyed that part and I’m not even into that stuff!
What a fun and really interesting read from a debut author!!! 🙌 Makes me want to learn more about astrology! 🤓
That major twist though!!! I did not see that coming and man, did it get me riled up!! 😱😤😂
Highly recommend this one - I loved it!!! 👏👏 Looking forward to reading more from this author!
Thank you to NetGalley, Atria, and Carinn Jade for the opportunity to read the eARC in exchange for my honest review!! ❤️ I will be picking up a physical copy to add to my collection for sure!!
Thanks to Atria Books for this ARC!
A group of wealthy Manhattanites goes on an astrology-themed retreat, not realizing that the host of the retreat may be hiding the biggest secret herself.
THE ASTROLOGY HOUSE is a drama-filled thriller with seat-gripping ending perfect for those looking for a spooky read! There is a cast of (mostly unlikable) characters, a waterfront Victorian house, lots of secrets to be revealed, and a shocking death. While I enjoyed this read the entire time, it really amped up at the end and my face was in a permanent cringe from all the secrets coming out! There are some trigger warnings in this book, so check before you pick it up!
I really enjoyed this book. It was a bit spooky and dramatic. I love a book set somewhat local to me and I was very intrigued with this one. I usually don’t enjoy this many POVs but with a full cast for the audiobook, I loved it. The mix of personalities was great especially when you find out they share more secrets than someone’s childhood diary. The tie in with all of the astrology and star signs made this one fun for sure. And the itinerary, horoscopes, and character profiles gave the story a bit more whimsy.
Thank you Netgalley & Atria Books Publishing for an eARC🔥
Buckle up, buttercup, because this book is a wild ride! 🔥I mean, who wouldn't want to escape into a mystical Astrology House with a cast of characters that are basically a bunch of hot messes? It's like a cosmic soap opera, complete with secrets, scandals, and enough drama to fill a galaxy!
These characters are like a box of chocolates - you never know what kind of crazy you're gonna get. From fake influencers to relationship trainwrecks, each one is more tangled up than a knot in a astrology chart. And when they all come together under one roof, it's like a cosmic explosion of drama and intrigue!
Sure, the ending might not have been the most mind-blowing, but honestly, who cares when the journey is this much fun? It's like a rollercoaster ride of emotions, with twists and turns that'll keep you guessing until the very end.🔥😳
I loved the concept of The Astrology House. A group of dysfunctional friends, a secluded weekend, and star signs thrown in for good measure? I was all in. However, the execution didn't quite work for me. There were perhaps too many characters with interconnected backstories that were revealed at just the "perfect" moment - that all felt a bit contrived. And the characters were largely one-note and often vastly unlikeable. I don't have a strong need for likeability, but I just couldn't root for any of these folks.
Summary from Goodreads:
Margot needs a minute. She’s been working eighty-hour weeks as a newly minted partner at her law firm. She’s disconnected from her brother, the only family she has left. And she’s still not pregnant after years of trying.
Stars Harbor Astrological Retreat promises rest, relaxation, and wisdom for Margot and her friends. With Instagram-worthy views and nightly astrology readings in an impeccably restored waterfront Victorian house, this getaway should be nothing but idyllic fun. For Margot’s brother, Adam, it’s the perfect opportunity to rekindle the romance that fuels his writing, but his wife, Aimee, hides the darkness of her past with a beautiful social media feed. Their friend, Farah, is a successful doctor who cannot admit she’s losing control. But no one holds a greater secret than their astrologer host, Rini. She has a plan for all her guests, and one won’t be leaving Stars Harbor alive.
Secrets, mystery, thriller - great!

The Astrology House from Carinn Jade is a book with drama, drama and even more drama. Told in multiple POVs, the story of the Astrology House retreat is a story of rich people with too much time on their hands.
Like, it's fun to look at astrology, but the characters in this book are looking for something to fill their empty lives. These are all people who have created their own issues and are looking for a 'quick' fix.
I feel like this was written for a certain type of reader and that isn't me. I think more people will have positive reviews and mine could be an outlier.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read this book.
