Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins for an advance reader copy of The Good Husband in exchange for my honest review.
After reading a few heavier stories, The Good Husband was a refreshing light but suspenseful read. One of those stories where everyone is suspect.
Highly recommend for a lighter palate cleanser.
A thrilling read, incredibly action packed and full of mystery and suspense. Very good twists, especially near the end.
3.5 rounded up
Amy is dead. She lied to her husband, saying she was in Boston on a business trip. The cops tell Mark she was founding LA on skid row. Cause of death was a drug overdoe.
But Amy didn't do drugs, so why are these cops lying to him
Amy works for a company that constantly needs more clients. Was this company laundering money or what was going on
Did Amy before she died know more than what she was supposed to know
Mark is determined to clear Amy's name and find out what was really going on and how she died. Because there's a black suv following Mark around, and Mark is starting to believe not only is his wife's death foul play, but someone may want to finish him and his daughter off as well
This thriller sucked me in right from the beginning and didn't let go right up to it's exciting conclusion. Short and fast paced chapters made this one a quick read but there was a lot of implausible situations going on. I know that's expected from this genre but some of what happens here is really over the top. I'm guessing that the author is trying to create a more exciting story and, do you know what? It works! This was my first Steve Frech book and I'd love to read more from him!
Thank you, NetGalley, for the chance to read this ARC.
Thoroughly enjoyed this fast paced roller coaster of a read.
This well written gripping thriller was an edge of your seat read with great characters.
The suspense & intrigue pulls you in with twists & turns all the way.
I burnt the midnight oil on this one as I literally couldn’t put it down.
If you like plenty of action then you won’t be disappointed as this will keep you on your toes.
Mike Burcham & his wife seem to have it all.
Perfect marriage , a beautiful daughter named Tatum , & a wonderful home in Los Angeles.
Amy appears to be missing as she has failed to come home from Boston where she was on a planned business trip.
Unfortunately her office has no record of this client .
Nothing is making sense any more as Mike learns that Amy has been found dead.
What secrets was his wife keeping from him.
As Mark starts to investigate what his wife was involved in he soon realises his every move is being watched.
Absolutely loved this gripping read.
Fast paced and exciting this book takes you on a veritable roller coaster ride from the offset and never slows down until the very satisfying climax. When Mark is told of his wife Amy's death he immediately is suspicious that someone is lying to him. With no idea who, if anyone, he can trust he goes it alone to investigate her murder. While it is a little farfetched that a stay at home dad would have the skills to do so it doesn't take away from how enjoyable the story is. All in all it's a very good read.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book.
This was an outstanding book! You are pulled right into the action when the story begins. I tore through the book. There was twist after twist and layer upon layer. Well done!
Another 5 star from this Author!
I don't want to give anything from this book away because I thought I knew what was going to happen and I was completely wrong!!
When you and your family live a perfect life and your wife ends up dead in an area and situation that is not like them at all! Who is lying, who can you trust and can you protect your daughter at the same time?

"The Good Husband" by Steve Frech is an utterly gripping thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Frech's masterful storytelling weaves a tale of suspense and intrigue, drawing readers into a world where nothing is as it seems and secrets lurk around every corner.
From the moment Amy fails to return from her business trip to Boston, the tension in this novel is palpable. Mark's desperate search for answers leads him down a dark and twisted path, where he discovers that his wife was keeping secrets that could have deadly consequences.
What I loved most about "The Good Husband" was its relentless pace and heart-pounding suspense. Frech expertly ratchets up the tension with each chapter, keeping readers guessing until the very end. The plot is filled with twists and turns that kept me guessing, and the shocking revelations left me breathless.
This book truly kept me up at night, unable to put it down as I raced to uncover the truth alongside Mark. The characters are well-drawn and the writing is superb, making for an immersive reading experience that I won't soon forget.
Overall, "The Good Husband" is a gripping thriller that will leave readers on the edge of their seats until the final page. Steve Frech has crafted a five-star masterpiece that is sure to thrill fans of the genre.
An action packed super quick easy read! My first Steve French book and It was better than I expected.
Very twisty and had a decent amount of action in, I’m wasn’t a huge fan of that but I’m not an action fan!
The plot did get a little far fetched and unbelievable towards the end but it sort of worked.
Thank you to the author and HQ Digital for this ARC.
Yes. Just yes. Pick this up. Read it. You won't be able to put it down! This thriller made my heart pound. I've never read anything by Steve Frech before, but that will be changing. We see you, Steve!
I always enjoy Steve Frech books and this one did not disappoint. This book kept my interest and kept me quickly turning the pages. I enjoy the light hearted way this author writes. The story was interesting though a few parts of the plot were a little hard to accept. I appreciated how everything was wrapped up at the end. Definitely a fun read that I'd recommend to others!
This is definitely one of those “high octane” novels and I loved the action and unexpected plot developments. Readers run around Los Angeles with the faithful husband, Mark, (seriously, he is a genuine good guy, no ulterior motive!) as he tries to find out what really happened to his wife.
I enjoyed following this story from a male perspective; it definitely made for a refreshing read. Following the devastating news that his wife has died, Mark does not believe the police report. From the beginning, his gut is telling him that there is far more to Amy’s death than is being reported, and when he clocks a black SUV following him around town, he starts to realise that there are bigger powers at play.
Like Mark, readers are taken on a high energy journey of discovery where truths are questioned and no one can be trusted. When it is clear that even his daughter is becoming trapped in an apparent web of deceit, Mark feels the pressure even more to keep his family safe. I admired Mark’s qualities: his determination to discover the truth at all costs and how much he cares for his teenage daughter. Even when the task feels hopeless, Mark follows a trail of clues to help him find out what really happened to his wife.
The short chapters definitely helped with the fast pace of this narrative but even then, I still felt like I could not put it down. I was so intrigued to see what would happen next to Mark and whether there was anyone who he could actually trust. When it is clear that there is deception far outreaching any authority figure, I could get a true sense of how helpless Mark felt yet, he never gives up and starts challenging the threats that come his way.
This was such a good read and I can definitely see it being turned into a film or television series. There are enough cliff-hangers to keep viewers interested! A family man turned protector, I enjoyed seeing Mark’s character at work over the story and how nothing is what it seems.
With thanks to HQ Digital and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I am a big psychological thriller and this book was definitely that! I was not disappointed. I absolutely loved this book. Although I've not read any of Steve Frech's previous books, after reading this 5 star thriller I plan on reading as many as possible!
Short Synopsis:
Mark Burcham and his wife Amy live the perfect life: they have a happy marriage, a comfortable home in Los Angeles and a beautiful daughter, Tatum. But one night Amy fails to come home from a business trip to Boston, and her office have no record of a client on the east coast.
Then Mark gets the worst news of all; Amy has been found dead. But nothing makes sense. Why was Amy still in town, when he’d waved her off at the airport a few days before? Who was the mysterious client she’d been meeting with for months? There’s only one thing Mark knows for certain: his wife was keeping secrets.
As he digs deeper into the life Amy tried to keep hidden, Mark realizes that someone is trying to stop him, someone who is watching his every move. And when they threaten Tatum to keep him from discovering the truth, Mark will stop at nothing to keep his family safe.
Many thanks to #TheGoodHusband #NetGalley and #HQ Digital for this 5 star E-ARC of #TheGoodHusband.
This book had a movie like feel to it, it was fast paced with plenty of action
I engaged with the characters and the plot was absorbing and easy to follow, well done!
Rarely have I dropped the rest of my life to read a book in one sitting but Steve French made it happen with The Good Husband. What a page turner…full of twists and turns. At first I had my doubts about Mark, believing he was responsible for his wife, Amy’s disappearance, but I grew to really appreciate his steadfast belief in their love. The pacing and slow revelations along with the nail biting action were definitely on point. So very many times I told myself “just one more chapter” until there were no more. That is the artistry of a great author with a killer storyline. Not wanting to give anything away this is one book you want to clear your schedule for…and I predict it will soon be a best seller.
I cannot thank you enough Steve Frech for taking me on this incredible ride with Mark, HQ Digital for seeing the obvious potential and NetGalley for affording me the amazing opportunity to read an arc of this gem, to be published on February 27th. Don’t let this one slip away readers!
Quick easy read with lots of action! A little like a movie, the characters were likable and you found yourself rooting for a good solid outcome. With that being said, it was a little predictable. Overall, I did really like it and would recommend!
I’ve enjoyed every single book written by Frech and The Good Husband was no different!
It’s incredibly well written, with just the right amount of suspense. I was completely hooked throughout the whole book.
The writing style was great, easy to follow and the twists were all so unpredictable.
Thrilling and exciting. This suspense novel will keep you on the edge the whole way thorough.
Thank You NetGalley and HQ Digital for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!
5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ all the way! I did not want to put this book down. There was so much action, plot twists, and drama… I couldn’t wait to see how it would end. My heart was pounding with all the anticipation! 🤯
Thank you to Netgalley and HQ Digital for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. This book officially publishes on 2/27/24!
This book had me hooked from the prologue! The author did a great job of defining the characters despite this story being told from a single POV. I did not see the twist coming with this one, and although it wasn’t the most shocking twist I’ve ever read, I was happy for it to happen; which I can’t say very often in thrillers. This book has all of the elements of a bingeable crime TV drama, so I found myself reading through this book quickly. If that is your preferred type of thriller, I recommend giving this one a read!
